In my cdj 2000 do not see the submenu with the quantity of tracks or playlists and do not know how to get the menu to search by genre color album bpm,search...so i can't access the touch keyboard...as i have to do????????????
@LogoMproductions Nothing at all. I actually think that's cool. The first time I played with cdj 2000's I forgot about it and touched it accidentally. If the Needle Seatch worked while the track is playing I'd be screwed. haha lol It only shows "neddle lock" or something like it. And I was like: "omg, i'm so lucky!"
1. Music playing = needle search disabled. Simple & smart.
2. CD: you must be Paused. VINYL: you must be touching the platter
3. Music plays as long as you leave your finger on the same spot. If you take it off in CD Mode it stutters. In Vinyl Mode it stops--but starts again when you remove your finger from the platter
4. In CD mode, you lift up your finger (which creates the stutter), and then press Play. In Vinyl mode, you lift up your finger from the needle strip and then the platter.
1) w/ turntables, hands rarely cross the needle's path. You drop, then retreat. W/ 2000s, BOTH hands CONSTANTLY move over/near/around the touch strip as you adjust buttons, knobs & platters. This means LOTs of chances to ROYALLY eff up a mix w/ the slightest finger graze.
2) it's REALLY easy to engage needle search when in Vinyl mode: rest the heel of your palm on the platter & extend your finger down to the strip--not that diff. from real vinyl.
Hmmm. To secure accedentally touch the needle search area while playing a track could be also done with lock / unlock function on some button. Just like for ejecting the CD.

"I didn't know Needle Search works only in Pause mode."
Neither did I. Needle Search was the primary reason I was considering getting these over the 3700's, and to be honest, I'm not so sure anymore.

Anyway what is the scenario like?
1. The music is playing.
2. If you want to search in needle mode you press PAUSE button? Or you have to CUE?
3. What happens if you hold the finger in one place while you are in 'needle mode', how long will the music play?
4. If you want to listen from the part that you found with 'needle', you press PLAY button?
Could you please make some video about Needle Search?

In my opinion it would be smart to offer a user if he wants to have locked or unlocked needle search.

When I needle drop on vinyl, the platter is always moving. I don't pause/drop/play, I drop/play and so does every other DJ I've seen.
The pause should be an option.

I didn't know Needle Search works only in Pause mode.
This is a star less for CDJ-2000.
