  • what type of software do you need for the hc4500

  • why do you guys all think DJ'ing has to involve a laptop....I use CORTEX rigs I have 3 models..the HDC1000, HDC3000 and a DMix300...all run off a external hard drive...I am using SSD's now..solid state drives...120Gb...this method does away with interfaces...laptops that die...and duplicated functions...ie Virtual DJ and it's mixer control AND a fully functioning mixer in your DJ rig..btw I am not a newboy, have been DJing for 35 years

  • okay, this is really good equipment, but still .... you should consider Traktor instead of Virtual DJ, it costs the same (freeware version of Virtual DJ is only free, as long as you use it at fx. your home - private audience).

And then..... WHAT a big flightcase for just that equipment.

  • @trykkermike video is 4 years old....

  • @mike71flores ..do you have some video with your now-adays equipment then ? - if you do, you can just post link in my YouTube profile.

  • how mush for all of that ? its cool i want to buy one. the asio where can i buy that? does any music shop have that for the head set and speaker?

  • fuk buying vinyl when u can download all sound for free

  • this is what i want

  • beyluxe

  • Do you know a reliable but realativly cheap soundcard with 2x stereo line/phono in and 2x stereo out? I'm dj'ing with vdj and timecodes on vinyl, but I have to use a Hercules RMX to use connect it with my laptop. It would be nice if I could replace the RMX with just a simple soundcard.

  • how do you control (on the program)your eq and your gain and master vol since the midi dont have any control over that and does that matter

  • @thedjfantastic1 you can control through the software or hardware...the new denon controllers can control everything.

  • @thedjfantastic1 how does it work for the crossfader for video mixing im thinking about getting this one but wonder how will i mix videos? i know the cross fader on the mixer works for the audio! but how about for video?

  • can u give me an estimate of the total cost of all this?

  • @djredmon1990 1200 at least

  • did you save much by custom making your case

  • @toupee100 250 dollars for case on ebay

  • hey mike im a Dj from jamaica,i mainly se serato now but i was using vdj from i was 12 and i like it more than serato. do i have to use the vdj timecode cd's with my set up?

  • @nuhsmile1 check virtual dj's website, they sell a package that does this, or you can do a search on youtube and theirs's some DJ's that figured out how to do it without having to purchase the hardware.

  • GOOD TUTO CONGRAGULATIONS

  • @mausgdj Thanks

  • what costs this denon?

  • @palmeiraant video is almost 3 years old...I'll be posting my new setup soon.

  • nice video mike! I already tried to search on youtube but i didn't found it could you please give me some help?

    chears joseph

  • that usb-plug in you are using to send midi files to your pc. what kind of cable do you need to have ?

  • @dendikzak just your plain everyday USB cable.

  • @mike71flores

is it also usb-input in the cd-player? cause I have a Jbsystems and I don't have usb-outputs on it. only digital output and 1 white and a red one.

  • Hey Mike, i've got the DJio connected to my laptop as well as my Numark Mictrack Controller. I'm using the DJio's headphones jack for my headphones, but i dont have an audio cable that can convert the white and red L and R audio to my 1/8th inch jack that my speakers use to plug in. Is there any way to have the 2 songs play through my laptop, as well as through the DJio in order to cue songs in my headphones?

  • hey mike! What does it means when it say error in the asio sound driver: not enough channels? what am I doing wrong or what do I need? Please help

  • @trios71 the HC4500 has a built in soundcard so NO DJIO neededed

  • im jus wanna kno if ya can help me out with the virtual dj (CD timecode settings) that work good with 2x dennon 3700 coz i seem to have trouble findin the best settings

plus im not sure if it my gear or the virtual dj but im having controling the tracks (E.G i press play but virtual dj doesnt respond n when i stop the the dennon the virtual turntable keps goin back n forward (Make A Scratching sound which is pissin me of)..... plz holla back...peace

  • For all the people who are intimidated let me help....dont be....you dont need to get a bunch of things....get good music...get a laptop....get a dj software.....know how to blend in songs, or how to keep the pace good then....get some good speakers......main thing make sure your safe and healthy........and then after that ask qustions if you need answers.......

  • Hey Mike, I've been looking for a coffin case with the exact specs as the one posted in your video (perhaps something just a tad longer). I know you mentioned something about it being custom made. Was it more expensive to have made versus just buying one already made?

  • @bigtopkaraoke any time you have something custom made it usually costs more, this one I said is custom made, but they are actually manufactured like this...just check ebay for them

  • OMG I am sorry Dude that Denon thing looks like a waste of alot of money and time. I am a Dj and I use Virtual DJ. I just control it with a mouse to my laptop. and It works awesome. I get many complements on how I run my shows. All that extra stuff just looks like a waste of time. Like you would be focusing more on running your equiptment then your customers. As a Dj we need to focus on keeping a packed dance floor and keeping the people happy.. all that extra Crap to me is just a distaction.

  • @davieboy1970 - I totally understand why you might feel that way bro. I used to Dj w/dual cd decks but had to go digital. I did the laptop/mouse thing for about 5 years but was feeling a bit like a lazy DJ & missing the hands-on feel & creative control I used to have with dual decks. Don't get me wrong, everyone has their own way, but after 5 years, I had to change up my game, so I eventually bought one of those "extra stuff" you mentioned. Definitely made my money back from gigs! Take care....

  • i need your help, i have a mp3 controller that plugs into my laptop via usb, and i want the sound to come out an amp, but that leaves me with no audio jack to listen to the other deck, any ideas ?thanks

  • how much doet that cost.. i we been improviing with all kinds of stuff, but think the setup u have in this video is very siple and efficient..

i would recomend that in ur video descritpions u write all the bits ur using and the cost (aproximate)

  • DID YOU HAVE YOUR COFFIN CUSTOM BUILT, IF SO WHERE?

  • @tkantone you can find it on ebay

  • good man

  • good shit now i just need $5000 2 buy me all this lol

  • @ulalaulala12 wait for The traktor s4 to be released. Its coming very soon, has its own internal mixer and soundcard.

  • @ulalaulala12 wait for the traktor s4 to be released. Its coming very Soon, has its interna

  • maan! thats sooo cool!! did you buy the box that way, or did you build the inside of it? :)

  • @1VDFTV i purchased the box, you can find the link to the ebay auction in the description.

  • So whats the benefit of having two laptops? i got a new one so now i have my good one and the old one which is still pretty decent enough for a dj setup

  • @CommandoCaseMods benefit of having 2 laptops is simply a backup...

  • hey...im going to have my 16th birthday party and i have virtual dj. I want to dj my own party...do you think i need anymore than speakers, virtual dj, and a laptop if im just going to be switching songs by crossfading?

  • @SoCalyankeefan you need a mackie mixer, if you want to just use a laptop and powered speakers or amp, if you go with a powered speaker with built in RCA jacks then you don't need a mixer, but it's always good to go that route since it gives you more options, versatilty are control over the sound.

  • hey mike i love ur instructions heres my email get at me im really tryna learn sum things...

  • easy self set-up

  • can you hook turntables up to the DJio?

  • @DJTSKONE NO, DJIO is just an external sound card, you can hook up TUNRTABLES to a PHONO input on the back of a mixer, but then you still can't control software without some sort of time coded vinyl...which requires hardware like virtual dj or serato scratch live, which includes boxes that have sound cards built into them...there are some hacks or work arounds to this if you are looking , just sure around youtube.

  • @mike71flores

Hello i have a little quistion for you mike.

I own a numark midi controler, and i am looking foward to get something more proffesional.

Im looking after a way of getting a mixer and some cds players working together with traktor. But i dont know what to buy, Wether buy anything and then get a Soundcard that will allow me to make the whole set work together or buying some cds that are also midi controlers, like the pioneer 400 for example. What is the easier way?more efficient?thx

  • Ok I think This is a Dumb Question but IM A BEGINNER

I cant plug speakers to the dj io (like on the red and white holes?)

Wat do i need to plug speakers to my (total Control Mixer)

  • @cheesepuffs1234 a numark total control is not a mixer, its a usb midi device for controlling conpatible software such as vdj or traktor.

  • very good vid . that was what i needed :)

  • I am an older (42) DJ and I started on 1200's using vinyl. Then they stopped producing or selling up to date vinyl in the earlier 90's, yes you can get SOME music on vinyl, but there is more than house and rap out there guys. Then came the Technics table top cd players and the Denons too. We have taken off like rockets since then. In clubs (mainly hip hop clubs) is where they want scratchin and mixin. Never did anyone at a wedding want me to scratch. But with Serato using the vinyl you can.

  • hey mike iz there any other place i can find this case??? thanx

    mrdjmaster91

  • @MrDjmaster91 some places will custom make it, but im not sure of any other vendors that make one just like this....

  • @MrDjmaster91 ebay

  • the djio has to be one of the worst interfaces on the market but most economical i would go with native instruments or the rane sound card.

  • Nice job Mike! Keep up the good work! Like you said, no one dances to scratching, don't sweat the haters. I bought a decent mixer 3 yrs ago and gave up on it, couldn't figure it out. I guess I'll dust it off and try making it work now, with your help. If you are in L.A. hit me up, I'll be interested in lessons. I'm not looking to be a career DJ but love music and love to throw good parties, so there you go! Thanks Mike!

  • @vicparedes562 Thanks VICPAREDES!

  • How you look? if you walk in anyplace with a Laptop and call yourself a DJ... I will ask where the hell is the disk your jockying? this shit is for people who cant beat match... you use a pc, you better be producing at least

  • @mordsgaudimachen Your Absolutely correct. I'm not a real DJ. Im just showing people how to use a Laptop to DJ with, Virtual DJ was downloaded over 2 million downloads...that's 2million laptops that are using it to dj with.....

  • @mike71flores well I dont mean to be rude... but when I think DJ, I think turntablist... I go to the club, and the "DJ" can not even beat match! Thats no DJ, its a guy with an ego. Think about this. If you go to a show, would you rather watch someone mix records? Or play on a computer? I think there is an entertainment factor there that is lost. Plus Im a digital hater! I like my 12"s and I like my analog synths

  • Comment removed

  • @mordsgaudimachen

I totaly agree on the beatmatching thing, i mean at least if your goin to do what i do(use a laptop) u either need to no how to beat match(like me) or either use software that does it 4 u.......i wanna know what are your thoughts on a Dj that has turntables but have them connected to a laptop?do u have somethimg against that style also bekuz they still have a laptop or r u ok with it because of the turntables

  • @DjR3aper Too many people use laptops to beatmatch. If you use A pc for storage of Digital tracks, they are all stored in square waves. Shitty Dynamics. Anolog Records have a warmer feeling to them. I think it is better to have like serado than CD's, but when I play, my Computer is only a sequencer for my hardware synths, and I only play Records. I love my Anolog stuff! Its just my opinion, and my style. You dont have to agree. Find your own flavor :)

  • @mordsgaudimachen

Thnx 4 ur honesty, and i was thinking about trying serato n the future but 4 now i cant afford all that, im a teen n highschool w/o a job

  • @mordsgaudimachen the laptop is just a storage for music so you don't have to carry crates or cd's anymore, I can beatmatch with the equipment you see in the video, no problem...the crowd does not know or even care how the music comes out......ask them.....they don't CDJ from VDJ or Turntables...and who dances to scratching? It's all DJ look at me .....to other DJ's that your talking about...

  • @mordsgaudimachen You sound like one of those old ladies that says "You kids claim you can type fast, but you're not a real typer unless you use a 1930 typewriter". You're mad because something in your profession was made easier AFTER you learned the hard way. That doesn't make harder = skill. You've proven (with this comment) that you are not a good DJ, because a DJ cares about 1 thing, satisfying the crowd. The crowd could care less HOW that sound is coming out, so long as it sounds awesome.

  • @bohicadeus I dont need to be a good DJ. Anyone can go to the store buy a cd/record/mp3 whatever, and play it. That is easy. Composing is whare it's at! Dj's are a joke! I mean you just play something someone else made, and act like you are so cool because you can press play? My MP3 player can do that! I have respect for producers, and for turntabilists... but not DJ's! You clowns are a dime a dozen

  • @mordsgaudimachen The trouble here, is you're comparing 2 100% different things. You're moreless saying that Movie Theatres are worthless because they only play a movie, and don't actually make the movies (just an example, but you get the point). I produce, can do tables, AND at times just get paid to do what you call "just pressing play". While I agree that mobile DJing is easier than producing/etc, it's not exactly as simple as "just pressing play". You have to feel/satisfy a crowd still.

  • @mordsgaudimachen well good luck being able to use a ipod to dj. and actually play what people wanna hear

  • @mordsgaudimachen your comment is UN call for, how he looks has nothing to do with his talent you ignorant brainless idiot look at Dj Khaled his fat and shit

  • @goshinryujiujitsu2 I believe you mean "uncalled for" learn to write than I might take you seriously fat ass

  • @mordsgaudimachen "How you look? if you walk in anyplace with a Laptop and call yourself a DJ"... You obviously have ZERO clue what a laptop is used for! Almost every top dj around the world who works in a night club or where ever STOPPED using real vynol a long time ago! And you have the nerve to call out MIKE???? HAHAHAHAHAHA Mike, good video brother. You answered a few questions I had.

  • @missle25 DJ = Disc Jockey... wheres the disc? These top "DJ's you talk about... well give me some names I guess, because most Top DJ's as you say are also producers who are doing more than using some bullshit to just play songs. If I go to a club or party and see some asshole on a computer I can just assume he is playing with media player and doing his taxes up there... Feel free to think what you want. I just put in my 2 cents

  • @mordsgaudimachen I'm not gonna get into a war of words here. You're taking this way to seriously. But to answer your question "who uses software" Dj AM, Dj Tiesto, Dj Samantha Ronson, Dj Paul Oakenfold, Dj Pual Vandyk, Dj Sasha. (that's enough for now) You get the point now? Have a good day.

  • @mordsgaudimachen HAHAHA! How old are you? 60? 70? You can plug a DJ Controller into a laptop, which has two turntables and a mixer. Same effect, just on virtual turntables. It takes 100% the EXACT amount of skill! Besides, DJ's don't just "press play"... there's an extremely complicated process involved. And FYI, it's not them "stealing other's work", it's giving the crowd something to dance to: if anything, it's enhancing the originals. I don't see why you have a problem with laptop dj'ing...

  • thank you so much, i was going to buy another cdj because i thought it needed its own special program, thank you:)

  • Really a great Tutorial.

Just having one question did the auto matching option can be used of virtual dj with the controller and does the pitch will get affected. Plz rply I know only u can tell us the real thing plz..

  • @tinkupinku01 Technically yes you could take one of the buttons on the HC4500 and program it to talk to VIRTUAL DJ's auto beat option, but on the HC400 you have a pitch control button that does work fine with virtual dj, so you can adjust the pitch to get your beats matched up rather than just hitting the auto mix button, you can do this in your headphones before fading over for the crowd to hear...

  • @mike71flores Thks buddy u r such a nice person.

  • @tinkupinku01

and also Virtual Dj has a thing called beat lock and it makes the pitch stay the same no matter how fast or slow the song is going

  • YOUR WACK DJ WITH A LAP-TOP

  • i want that deck.. how much did you get it for?? :)

  • hey mike awsome explaining but i have a question for you on this video??? when you move the faders on your denon mixer does it move on virtual dj???and also another question if you load a song on the virtual dj deck does it send it to your denon hc-4500???well those were the questions and ill be waiting for your respond okay thanks

  • hey great tutorial but i have a quick question. So does the DJ IO act as a sound card basically?

  • @longest22 yes that is correct

  • help i'm afraid

  • i have NO idea what your talking about.

  • @JennerKills did you watch part 1?

  • @mike71flores lol no

  • bro i only have the virtual dj software. How do i connect my laptop to the denon hc 4500 ? i also have the virtual dj timecode that i downloaded from denon dj.. Do i need a audio cable from my laptop to the mixer ?

  • lemee get this straight, the hc4500 can control vdj perfectly right?

  • @ExoticSoundz it is mapped to most of the basic settings...so not perfectly, most users download a custom midi mapper called jpbogis

  • i wish i had that setup, a Denon controller and a Denon mixer.

right now im using the Numark M1 USB. im sure u can figure out how that works just by the name haha

  • Sweet......

  • what does the two laptops add oposed to just one?

  • Possibly different programs running for different features, I've seen Deadmau5 use 2 laptops before, and he uses a lot of programs

    Just a guess...

  • @13meman backup

  • does your fader works on the virtual dj...when you go right to left?

  • no the fader does not control the fader within virtual dj, because it is seperate from the midi controler.

  • @mike71flores So I've been wanting to get into dj'ing. I want to do it using my laptop with the controller and mixer put together. (Numark OMNI controller for example) Its just I need to get good quality audio to my amp and speakers. Do I have to get a more expensive controller that has the outputs I need or can I get the audio some other way? (possibly by way of USB)?

  • k thanks

  • does the controler and mixer come with the case

  • no, the controller cost about 399 and the mixer cost about 400

  • great video, what is that software you are using?

  • ITS VIRTUAL DJ

  • virtual dj :D

  • I need help!!!!!!

ok what if i have a a mixer and the dj i/o and some speakers can i just mix without an amplifier?

would that work? or i need an amplifier no matter what?

  • Yes, you only need an amplifier if your trying to fill a large room with sound.

  • @mike71flores wat if ur just a bedroom dj??? do u steel need it??

  • no bedroom dj's can just plug into your radio or buy some small speakers for the house.

  • thank you very much man I appreciate :)

  • dude very detailed :D

    good stuff

  • ok thanks mate

  • do you really need 2 laptops to dj with 2 turntable like you had it set up?

  • @2fastg35 no you can have lots off der=ferent set ups like

    cd and ppc

    or i pod and pc

o ipod and ipod or ipod and cp what ever wroks

  • yo dude do you have to use vdj or numark dj software on the laptop and can u use any. because i want to be able to use the djio but ive got a different software on my laptop (great video)

  • You can use any software, but Virtual DJ 5.0 versions have all the hardware pre-configured and (the MIDI MAPS) so you don't have to hand configure each control. DJIO is just an external soundcard that will make your songs sound a lot better

  • hi mike i got a small setup with the dn-s 1000 and the dn-x 120 so can i use this same setup that u just showed .thanks

  • the DN-S 1000's don't talk MIDI, so you won't be able to use them to control virtual dj software without using some sort of TIMECODE hardwar like serato scratch live or TRAKTOR SCRATCH. The hardware will convert timecode signals from a timecoded cd inserted in you player to control your choice of software

  • lol wheel 1 wheel 2, you really pulled all the stops. Great vid man this dj stuff is really confusing.

  • it's easy, there are just so many options with so many vendors to choose from

  • i got a question.. if you bought the Denon HC4500 would you need the DJ IO? yes?,why?

  • NO DJIO needed if you own the HC-4500. HC-4500 has a built in soundcard. DJIO is just an external soundcard used to demonstrate how to dj with a laptop. HC4500 is a controller that happens to have a soundcard built in...making it really nice....

  • @mike71flores thank you, really. i am starting to forming a new band.. do you think buyin the HC-4500 will be usefull? like makin some scratches in the song..

  • Hey mike I plan to purchase the same equipment as you I live in the chicago area so as you know the 2nd city never sleeps and can always ude new djS I really appreciate the info and tutorial i plan to buy the dennon dnx900 and hc4500 so i expect more tutoriols thanks hey look me up on facebook luis santiago bonilla itll be a while before I have evrything so keep me posted look me uo on facebook id like to learn more about this equipment I cant wait to have it all man thanks

  • yea, go with the denon x-500 it's a lot less money and does the same thing....

  • hi i need some help as i am buying the Hercules DJ Control Steel and also a preview device so i am buying the behringer 202 like the one in this video and was wondering how i would set it up so i mix with the steel and the master is from the 3.5 stereo mini jack and use the behringer for a preview. how would you achieve this? thanks in advance

  • is the djio numark a pre amp?

  • the DJIO is an external soundcard. no amplificaton involved

  • yo yo yo homedog this is dj dangerdotcom coming at cha from the basement of funktown.

your tunes are beepbopping my soul, oh yeah!

keep blasting those tunes out and respect giraffes. peace out brother

  • hi there. i am just starting out. hense why im watching your videos. there helpingful and all, but i was curious as to what you need to start out. i was shopping around online, and there's controllers, mixer, keyboards, etc. what do you need to start out?

  • hello everyone can someone put a link to show the numark total controll with virtual dj please because i was thinking buying the denon hc4500 but im just starting djing and im just 14 years old so the total control for me right now it is ok maybe later i will buy something better

  • mike please answer what kind of case or rack is that were can i buy one online

  • i put a link to the ebaystore in the info area to my right...

  • 400 for the controller, 400 for the mixer, 400 for the case. 1600 for the speakers, 1200 for the laptop. 1200 for lights 400 for haze machine.

  • Are u familiar with the mac version I using 5.2 because of the mapper do u know how stable virtual dj is when using the bootcamp because the pc version has more to offer and should I use maya 44 or should I use asio soundcard in the hc4500 please let me know

  • I tried it once using bootcamp last year and had too many issues. With newer versions of windows, mac, and bootcamp and VDJ, it may work but to he honest have not tried it yet. I use the the soundcard built into the HC4500 which utilizes the ASIO sound driver. But the maya 44 should work fine.
