Funny. I was fishing some stickups and roots one day for crappie i was using a stump jumper and i was catching good crappie. I threw out my lure again and BAM my drag screams then it just stops. I pull up on the rod and i cant move it. Thought i caught a big ass turtle (again) i trolled over to the spot and it turns out it was a largemouth that went nuts and wrapped himself around the underwater roots. LOL

@AddictiveFishing yeah. at least have it tighter on the hookset then loosen it....i've seen you pull a ton of hooks due to your loose drag and wild east coast hook set. This is how we drive hooks on the pacific side.

1.feel bite

2.let fish run

3.engage reel

4.wait untill you feel the fish's weight pulling against your drag

5.set hook STRAIGHT UP and not behing your head.

I am not saying this to be rude. I love theshow. I just die a little whenever i see a wild swinging hookset.

I went fishing around bradington today and caugt a 8 pound grouper that did almost the same thing, it went under the boat and baried itself... I almost went write in the water with it... it looked exactly like the one they caught
