I guess my best explination would have to be....chibi is a form of art in anime and manga that focusesd on making the characters look cute, small and simple. That's when the anime characters get those really big eyes and big heads and small bodies and over-exagerating emotions. Does that help?

Cute would be "kawaii" in Japanese.

Chibi is roughly translated to "little", maybe even "small/short person" and generally used in context in which it means "short/small person with cute features".

I only have some basic knowledge, and "Chibi" is amongst it xD

It's now a common name for a deformed style of manga, in which the character is pretty much 1/3 head or maybe even 1/2 head, with very small, stumpy limbs without detail.

Some anime use it in humorous scenes. Pandora Hearts and Get Backers are good examples.
