  • He's right about 'it depends'`. But powerbars, gels and sport drinks are not good. If your overweight, eat light before a low intensity workout, if your normal or under, eat fairly heavy calories.

  • dont mean to spoil the party here guys but i spent 3 years in the royal marines commandos and i had to run 5miles every morning, and when we got back to base we would have a full english breakfast, this guy is abit like the russian guy in rocky (dolph lungren) he talks about electrolytes and gel" etc etc, (basicaly rocky beat dolph because rocky was eating raw eggs and running with weights tied to him etc,(going in a real gym too!) u guys should look up royal marines fitness training on youtube

I do two-a-days for football and I threw up on the sideline in the middle of a hard drill I think because i drank water-perhaps more than a couple of sips. i felt like the throw up was 90percent water because i couldn't taste any acid or stuff like that. especially the viscosity of the throw up. it was like 0 percent solid/food.

  • @TheAclark109 during two-a-days it is normal to throw after a vigorous workout. the couches want to see you throw up so it doesnt really matter if you drink 2 much water. the excess water actually cools your body down but its good to have plenty of fluids. NO ENERGY DRINKS :THAT CAN HARM YOUR BODY IN THE LONG RUN.. VITAMINS AND PROTEIN :D , VEGGIES,FAT FOR ENDURENCE

    Yeah idk why it happened that one time. I got in real good shape before and during the two-a-days. I'm the WCAC sports league which is pretty competitive near the virginia, DC, and maryland area. We worked a lot harder in the later two weeks after this. I drink more water now but I'm the only starter who's never played football before. a lotta stuff was happening that summer, i lost like 15 pounds i wasn't eating a lot. I had no idea how mch to eat. I didn't want to eat to become fat

    I'm better than most of the linemen on D and offense, but everyone else gained weight. I'm afraid of just gaining fat if i eat more. over the summer i ate a lotta veggies and stuff and did a lot of working out on my own. hah but I'm lost on how to improve my body as a player

I do that or sometimes drink half a protein shake with just the protein powder and water. i sip on it for about 30 mins. wait another 30 mins and just Effin run. it is that simple. Remember what it was to be a kid again, and Run Free with not a care in the world. I jog, sprint, pull ups, push ups and sit ups in the morning all at the park rite next to me. Put on your iPod or phone or MP3 playa and just go nuts.. Have fun. These people get to Technical.

  • yea getting ready for my 15mile run I ate a ton of carbs, mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, etc. You can really tell the difference when you get the right type of fuel food in you and when you don't.

  • when i do distances under 4 miles i usually run them first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. thats what we used to do in the Army in the morning PT sessions. we never ate before training in the morning but ate about 45minutes or so after. for really high miles run we ate a big breakfast of just about anything we wanted and did the high miles 2-4 hours later and then had lunch after that.

  • As long as you eat something with carbs and fiber like oatmeal and spaghetti, you should be good.

    For me, i like to eat 45 mins before i run. Make sure you drink about a cup of water 15 mins before the run and a sip of water a minute before u run.

  • if your running 10k or more eat all you can manage without overdoing it, i have a lot of muscle mass to keep going for longer periods so i eat 4 weetabix with UHT milk and a piece of fruit- i swear you can just keep going and going with that

  • unless you are fasting for a religious reason, then fasting is so dumb! please dont do it, i promise that fasting does not make you lose weight. by fasting your bodys metabolism slows down so it can feed off the energy still left in ur body. believe me im in the army and the fat guys use to fast and they would lose no weight. eat regularly and exercise and you will lose weight. i promise.

  • This is the problem I always have with this kind of advice - they tell you the 'what', but they fail to tell you the 'why'. Because I might feel heavy running around the track? What does that mean? An hour or 1.5 hours before a long run? No. Wrong. This depends on WHAT you eat and I can fully tell you the why. As a trainer myself I always explain the 'why' in anything I teach - it lends itself to much better retention and understanding of what exactly is being taught.
