I have one of those hand chain saws and you got to be careful the webbing after awhile will cut your hands. Use gloves with it. Second that fire rod SUCKS your going to smash your tinder to hell trying to spark a fire with that stupid design.

If you want to keep the saw folded inside the case try some velcro straps! You can find them in all sizes nowadays and they'll even be useful in other situations besides keeping the saw folded. Give it a try!

I think the case is a waste, not what is in it, I mean the case itself. Put that gear into a kleen canteen, this way you carry your gear in your cup, it is waterproof.

I'm going to ask a pretty stupid question so please forgive my ignorance but I have watched a couple of these survival videos recently (I'm drawn to them lately) and I just wanted to know why would a person need one of these? I mean, unless youre a hiker or a forest ranger or something, why would you need this to survive in the woods? I can understand the flashlight just in case your car breaks down or something but why else would you need a "survival kit"?

Oh give me a break. You aren't USING this thing. You don't have a clue whether the stuff is actually useful or not. You state repeatedly that you HOPE this works, or that LOOKS like it'll work. The whistle is junk. You don't know how to use a blast match. You can tell that you never tried the the camp saw. A chain saw blade only works in one direction. A camping saw works in two directions.

in reply to some others here survival kits I have found are personal to the user. This kit may be all he needs. I can survive with just a Swiss Army Champ. But that is just me not that I would want to. DDesign your personal kit and post it, but don't critize everybody elses because they don't fit your idea.

Very well said. There does seem to be a lot of people out there that don't grasp the idea that there is no definitive kit. They are all going to vary in size and will all be suited to the individual that has put it together.

This kit is not that decent it has fire capabilites yes but has no real blade or medical supplies hell it could at least have a pancho for shelter and space blankets

Just a little tip from a Lumberjack. if you use the Saw for practiceing or some thing will it be a good idear to get it filed agian with a normal round file have ou never tryed to sharpen a chainsaw chain go to your local chainsaw retailer and ask him if he can sharpen it for you also rember to put a couple of drups of oil on it so it will work smoother
