  • it is real apparently the director of the movie of this is a massive star-wars fan and he just put the R2-D2 in there as an Easter Egg from what i was told.

  • bullshit it's real

  • Its there at the 47;39 mark. its much clearer in Blu ray

  • ILM puts in easter eggs like this in other trek movies too. The Millenium Falcon is in the Borg Cube battle in First Contact.

  • ITS A FAAAAAAAKE!

  • Well I'll be damned, I just checked and it's really there. I thought at first that this was just another silly fake.

  • definitely there, I just slow motioned the blu ray and there is no doubt. suck it Trekkies!!!!!

  • It turns out that R2-D2’s guest spot is something of a recurring theme of films featuring the handiwork of Industrial Light & Magic, the special effects company owned by Star Wars creator George Lucas, with the robot also having recently cropped up in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

  • R2 D2 took Star Tours to Star Trek...I guess its the new distenation Disney was talking about :D (I know its not i`m jokeing)

  • I have no idea what you people are going on about that it's fake.... I just checked and R2-D2 IS there... :/

Still, kinda neat! lol I wonder how they got away with that... xD

  • in star trek the motion picture when spock is flying into v'ger you can see darth vader and miss piggy

  • 47 minutes... 47?! The Star Trek "47" conspiracy lives on.

  • Its not fake. I've seen the movie a million times, listened to the commentary (in which they TELL you its there). Its just something they do for kicks. Awesome, if you ask me.

  • trolol i knew i saw him xD

  • OMG, there he is! I heard about the R2s in the audio commentary, but I couldn't find him.

He's in another shot at Vulcan, right?

  • Sad That JJ put this in deliberately. Note to all the people who think that Industrial light and magic did this on their own: ILM has been making special FX for Star Trek since 1982, and they never did anything like this before on any of the 8 Star Trek movies or 500 Star Trek episodes they worked on. Only Star Wars nerd Jar Jar Abrams would do such a thing to Star Trek.

  • @Trekfreek what about the millenium falcon in Star Trek first contact?

  • @TOK150. That was just a rumor. It was only there through people’s imagination. Just like the "Ghost" in Three Men and a Baby.

  • @Trekfreek Strangely, Leonard Nimoy is connected to both of these films.

  • @jimbopumbapigsticks Nemoy is not connected to First Contact.

  • @Trekfreek Really? Care to put money on that? How about the Millennium Falcon at the beginning of First Contact? Stupid fanboy trekkie. Get over it.

  • Is it sad that i got my DVD And found it myself?

  • @workstrength - I don't think it's really revenge. The effects for Star Trek 2009 (as well as a few of the other ST films) were done by Industrial Light and Magic, which is owned by Lucasfilm. It's most likely an easter egg the effects crew threw in.

  • trekies bitchies

  • That would have been a great thing for them to do! Kinda like the firefly in Battlestar Galactica or the Millennium Falcon in Wing Commander...

  • yes, looks similar... maybe it's revenge for having someone that looked like Data in the bar scene

  • R2: "How did I end up here? Is this the robot afterlife my abusive master sent me to?"

  • If it wasn't for JJ's freaking lens flares we could probably see it a little bit better.

In my opinion....he used the lens flares as a distraction. Either to cover up flaws in the overall design of things or just to fill you optic nerve with overloaded stimulus.

  • It's real, very nice. I checked it in my movie, and paused it at the exact same time. Never knew about this, either.

Apparently he's in a second scene, but I can't find him.

  • In a Galaxy far far away...i didn't think so.

  • that's not r2. r2 is blue and white. that's black and white.

  • this isn't the droid you're looking for.

    go about your business.

    move along.

  • @FryskerStarwalker

    I know you

  • @NICKREAPER316 Amen to that. And as you said, it's just an opinion. IMO, I think Star Trek has deeper moral values and better plot devices, more intricate character development, and an emphasis on diplomacy and peace. Star Wars has a very rich history and lovable characters, as well as a wider variety of alien species and fantasy technology. It focuses less on the tech and more on the story, which it tells very well. I just prefer Star Trek for nostalgia reasons as well as a love of peace.

  • @NICKREAPER316 Um, didn't you just contradict yourself there buddy? No one opinion is correct, so if you think your is correct you are an idiot, does that not suggest that I am wrong for having my opinion? So then if no opinion is correct, how can I be an idiot if being correct is my opinion and therefore is not wrong? Furthermore, if me being an idiot is your opinion, then me being correct is no less wrong. Think before you speak... eh, type.

  • hahahahahahaha

  • Wow. The best showing I've seen. I looked for a long time last summer.

  • ok and now? i thin Bender is visible at 30:34

  • Wow I guess the hype is real.

  • Thank you

  • star wars is better than star trek, but that's just my opinion

  • @NICKREAPER316 Nope, Trek is better. Let the war commence!

  • well that's you're opinion, and there's nothing wrong with that, but that doesnt mean my opinion, or yours is wrong or right. if someone actually had an argument about that, which lasted for 2 hours, they should be awarded a plaque that says "congratulations, you had the time and patients and such a non life to not only create but sit through this entire piece of shit. you've proved you're nerdiness, now go fuck yourself" .......wow i got carried away there...

  • @NICKREAPER316 Ah, you fear I am right. Hence the unneeded and childish swearing. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering, suffering makes you eat cookies, cookies lead to the dark side! Come back to us! Nooo! Too late, he's gone. He's on the Lucas side. Roddenberry is better. Not saying I hate Wars, I fuckin love it, but I prefer Trek 'cause it's more fun and deeper. Plus, Wars is Science Fantasy, Trek is Science Fiction. So it's a tad bit more realistic. XD

  • R2-D2 also makes an appearance in Transformers 2: Revenge Of The Fallen when Jetfire's parts merge with Optimus Prime.

  • it's true R2D2 was the only character in star wars that servived his hole life and he still lives to this verry day so he's the one that lived on to star treck he's gotta be somewere in thoes movies if he's the star of star wars he's able to apear in witch ever one of these movies that he would like to plus he's the greatest star wars character of all time he's my favorite of all time too by the way it has something to do with the story of star treck..............................................

  • wow lol get a life

  • how did anyone ever find this?

  • actually the directors pointed it out during an interview.

  • Not trying to break a fight,

BUT R2 JUST OWNED THE TREKKIES! Just had to say that.

As I said, don't wanna start a fight.

  • its hard to find him i thought. thanks for showing us

  • if you cant see it....upgrade to blu ray already

  • on the left side of the screen

  • this is true....right when they enter vulcan space where everything is smashed, the enterprise leapes downward trying to dodge some remains of a ship, it scratches one of the engines of the enterprise and he's there right when they make like a 1st person view of the command center of the ship

  • Yep, I just found him on my copy.

  • faaaake i just got the movie and it looks much smaller then that

  • Ya got me! Its a total fake. I played the movie back, and saw something there but it was too small.. So I brought it into a video editor and put R2D2 in myself in the exact same place and the exact same frame everyone else claims to find him!... Busted :(

  • welll i acctually did see him....or what appears to b him... i mean there is a little white thing on screen but not sure if it is him... the power of suggestion is strong

  • Yeah so don't you feel silly for yelling "faaaake?" :)

  • not really and i didnt yell

  • how could you, alancolon! :(

  • @alancolon dood, its not fake, check this article out

    io9.xxx/5287267/r2+d2-spotted-hiding-in-star-trek-movie

  • Nuh uh!! No way!! Post a Video Response :)

  • oh no! trekies!
