THATS THE EXACT POINT. Yanks had to use Ponson and Giese due to injuries....so thank you for proving my point. Ponson and Giese did in fact suck, and they still suck, but we still won 89 games. You also cant name ONE member of the lineup who wasnt hurt last season at one point. The yankees did not have a healthy lineup or rotation all season.
But I'm sure losing the staff ace which wang was at the time, mid season isn't significant enough for you.

Wang has a high WHIP and low ERA+ for a "Ace, he was gonna get laced eventually. He wouldn't have been an ace on any other staff.
Dan Giese only made 3 count 'em 3 starts for you idiot, also he was a decent reliever.
On top of that, you had plenty of good hitters to even out the bad pitching, only Posada was gone for a long time, Matsui was out but they upgraded with Nady. Let alone that they fleeced pitts.

Wang was the staff ace LAST YEAR, prior to landing CC and Burnett. Losing him was with a doubt huge for the yankees. 19 game winners dont grow on trees, and yes I do think wins are an overrated state, but prior to last year he was a durable and atleast a good pitcher to the staff. He had extreme importance to the staff because their really wasnt a starter better on the staff. Maybe Mussina..Maybe, but noone expected what he did last year,
