  • You don't see too many left footed kickers.

  • who do you guys think he looks like? peyton or eli?

  • @MissMaddy881 He looks more like Peyton. But his playing style is totally Eli. Him and Eli are both scrambling quarterbacks that will make big plays out of nothing. But as a pure quarterback, Peyton is better than both of them.

  • Cool vid but why the fuck does the Raiders theme is here>>

  • Archie is tougher than his overrated sons. 1970's much different game. Most of today's QBs are not even real players. They are way over protected. Peyton and Eli are not tough enough.1970's was the REAL NFL. Goodell ruined game

  • More than 24 years later in that same Dome, the Saints kicked a field goal to send them to their 1st Super Bowl, which they won.

  • Comment removed

  • @yourpalal1227 Don't you mean 34 Years? Well, that IS more than 24.

  • @cynic2all Thank you for correcting me.

  • why is the autumn wind (raiders theme) playing in the background?

  • @planefreak3 Autum Wind was associated not only with Raiders highlights but bad weather late season games.

  • i saw this thismorning as it showed up on my um thingy suggested viewing thing

  • Archie Manning was one of history's best quarterbacks ever. But no matter what team he was on, his linemen sucked, so he'd get sacked frequently. It's a shame that he's not recognized as such; being one of the best. At least Eli and Peyton are good quarterbacks and good teams.

  • @Dergie14 number 1 QBis joe montana .>

  • I liked the white uniforms the Saints wore in 1975. I wish they would bring them back. It was nice to see a video of that time when they wore those uniforms.

  • WTF?! The Oakland Raiders theme song on this video?! Wierd.

  • it mustve been hard for Peyton to play against his childhood, father, hometown, and family's team

  • @Tru3Innovator77 That's what I said.

  • @Archie8Manning it mustve been really weird mentally

  • @Tru3Innovator77 Yeah, like, I saw a video he said his favorite team was Oakland(he was like 5) but really, I think they were saying their second favorite team, cause they're from New Orleans and I say another video from when he was 3 he said his favorite player is his Dad, which is pretty nice. And I mean, something as big as the Superbowl is different, like if it were just a regular game it seems sorta w/e but the Superbowl must have been weird.

  • Szaro went to Harvard

  • We love ya, Archie!

  • And then the next week Bart Starr would get his first win (as head coach) for the Packers in a game at Dallas.

Heh, Green Bay couldn't beat the 2-12 Saints but they could beat the 10-4 Cowboys who also made the Super Bowl that season (after the classic Hail Mary victory pass in Minnesota).

I remember watching the first game in the Superdome a few weeks before (an ugly 41-3 loss to the Billy Kilmer led Redskins).

  • I love the Saints old white uniforms.

  • the Saints should come out this season with the 1975 white unis as a throwback for the Home opener ........

  • Archie Manning was a very solid & good QB who had the misfortune playing for some lousy Saints teams in the 70's. Had he played for a Solid Franchise for most of his career, he would be remembered as a very good QB.

  • AMEN TO THAT

  • where do you find these old games? nowhere?

  • Peyton manning should ahve joined the saints too

  • everyone is so big and tall lol, looks like they run in slow motion, Archie looked like he flicked the ball and it went 50 yards,

  • Time to get laid.

  • The saints won! Screw all the naysayers and their sour grapes. Who dat!

  • @gostridr2012 superbowl champs, dats who!

  • Looking at this video clip it reminds me that Archie is really much more like Drew Brees than his own son!! Archie is smaller than Peyton and was a good accurate passer - but did not possess the cannon that Peyton has.

On the other hand, Like Brees - Archie was definitely a better runner than Peyton - and LORD that was a must given how woeful the Saints were during those days.

Peyton is more in the mold of Marino and Brees is much more in the mold of Archie

  • I loved Archie, but those days where hell!

  • He was a great quarterback and a pathetic team. He had no O-line.

  • amazing how today Archie Manning's son & his former team (in the Superdome)both won their respective games for the Super Bowl. Took a long time for the Saints to get to this point. Congrats to Colts & Saints from this Cowboys fan! ps: wasnt Hank Stramm coaching Saints in '75?

  • You have never seen Archie play in college or pro, he was one of the best ever, just didn't have any help.

  • @PITTSBURGHFANFOREVER take it from someone whos dad played with archie.....he was a great college football player..his name in college carried him as a good pro football player...billy kilmer was way better however....any saint that played with archie will tell you that...my dad doug wyatt #23

  • @PITTSBURGHFANFOREVER so just to be clear...a great college player...a ok pro player!!

  • @PITTSBURGHFANFOREVER You Better believe it.

  • @PITTSBURGHFANFOREVER that's right, he was a good player just wasn't on a good team his whole career. He didn't have good offensive linemen.

  • wat r u serious archie was 1 of the best eva

  • no hes wasnt too bad

  • i love how nobody has commented on that kick... did he kick that with the side of his foot? that was the strangest thing i've seen in a while...

  • @imaginator414 The last time I saw someone use that chip shot method was when I watched my high school alma mater back in the '80s. Nobody could get a job in the NFL doing that any more.

  • why r the using the raiders nfl song???

  • i'm pretty sure "The Autumn Wind" by Sam Spence,NFL Music, poem by Steve Sabol was first used in an NFL film that summarized the 1974 season & it was used to feature the Raiders, but when this Saints film was made, not even a year later,"Autumn Wind" wasn't established as the Raiders theme song yet.

  • How is Archie not a coach after all that his produced.

  • @JohnEko When Archie retired, I heard him on a radio station talking about his future. A caller wanted him to go back and coach Ole Miss. Archie said that there were two professions he decided he would not try after football......coaching and brain surgery. :)

  • I feel bad for archey manning, playing for a shitty team(no offense Saints fans) but Peyton takes after Archeys face because I ot a newspapaer with archey in his uniform back when he still played

  • if only he was born 10 years later and played with the dome patrol..

  • but then what happens to peyton and eli? :O

  • id just like to say saints arent a shitty team anymore as the NFC champs

  • thats like saying the seahawks arent a shitty team just because they won the nfc championship, saints are going to lose Indy and if I am wrong then I will make a video saying how how the aints are awesome and how drew brees isnt a fag

  • @fanofmanyteams wheres the video now? who dat

  • the video is in your asshole, I won $40 by betting against Indy, so since I rooted for the Saints to win, I basically don't have to do it. Brees isn't HOF material because Roethlisberger has won 2 superbowls and isn't considered HOF material, say what you want, just be prepared for the hangover and hope that Brees isn't put on the cover of Madden11

  • @fanofmanyteams yes but Roethlisberger cant compare to drew brees. drew is 2nd to peyton maning givew him time he will be one of the grates some day

  • We'll see, winning a superbowl doesn't immediately make you a great, and your right about Roethlisberger. You can't compare Brees and Roethlisberger, Brees can't take the damage Ben has taken from sacks nor can he pump-fake so well, he fakes the camera. Ben will never have the stats that Brees will have but thats what he might only be remembered for, you can say Brees is second to Peyton but Peyton is 2nd to Roethlisberger who is 2nd to Brady.Being great like peyton & brees dont win U superbowls

  • and even though Brees and Peyton won superbowls, that might be their only one, just look at Favre

  • @fanofmanyteams Lol Drew Brees isn't a fag, dumbass. What does that wife and child tell you?

And the Saints are ten times better than any team you could throw at them, all the other teams have sucky running games/passing games/o-lines/d-lines. The only reason we lost those last three games is because they kept Drew out because they didn't want him to get injured before the playoffs.

  • @Chipfan1111111111111 WELL SAID!!!!!!

  • @Chipfan1111111111111 Drew Brees is a fag, its not like gay fag but a fag just because you don't like them. Like that fagget quarterback from New England. Last I checked, those last 3 games had Drew Brees as starting QB for the game. If the Saints were 10 times better than any team you could throw at them, then how come they only just got their first superbowl win?

  • yea cuz it doesnt take a good defense or a good o-line or cornerbacks to go 13-3, and to the superbowl

    ur dumb

  • @nepnyy um Saints Defence since its SO great was ranked 25th in the league in total YPG, 26th in passing YPG,and 21st in rushing YPG, and the O line was ranked 6th. so no the defence sucked, Brees, Thomas, and Bush carry that team because they can score, and the defence cant stop shit, Saints are going to lose

  • Ha, yeah Reggie is one of the three that makes us good... judging by that comment, you don't know shit, about the team or about football. So shut up.

  • Archie Manning was a very good QB who was stuck playing for the Saints of the 1970's so he doesn't get his just due.

  • Wow the whole manning family is rich

  • Wow what an atrocious secondary.. 0:51 watch number 83 of the Packers get tackled/tripped by the Saints lineman from behind.

  • SAINTS RULE

  • Dallas does too. I like the "tear away" jerseys too. The Superdome was supposed to be completed a year earlier I think, hence that one SB was played at Tulane.

  • ok thx for the info GEAUX NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

  • Not against Tampa Bay because Manning made a statement saying that anyone that lost to the Buccaneers should be embarrased and guess what the very first win Tampa had was over New Orleans 33-14.

  • yea but look at Tampa Now THEY SUCK Saints Win the Divison and SB

  • Did N.O. always wear their "away" jerseys at home in 1975?

  • The Saints wore white jerseys at home because of the hot weather in Tulane Stadium. When they moved to the Superdome in 1975, they wore white pants at home along with their white jerseys because of that. The following year, Hank Stram forced his team to wear dark jerseys at home

  • Hank Stram was a good coach, he also coached the Kansas City Chiefs when they had Len Dawson

  • yes

  • the browns also did that alot around this time

  • Very nice. Difficult to find Packers footage from 1972-1976. I know it's Saints highlights, but it's nice to see rare film.

  • yeah even though green bay wasnt so good in the 70s i like too see highlights of them. go pack

  • geaux fuck yourself

  • Your a jackass

  • You're* :)

  • GEAUX SUCK YOURSELF

  • Archie Manning was a very good QB. For most of his career with the "aint's" (back then), he was running for his life on every pass play, with a very poor offensive line. I have often wondered what he would have done with a little protection.

  • look at that kick

  • what song is being played?

  • "The Autumn Wind"

  • Do you had more of the 1975 Saints highlight film?

  • Ha! A classic highlight from my 5th birthday! Geaux Saints!!!

  • Archie was a great QB.

Too bad he was on the Saints.

If he was on Dallas or Pittsburgh, he would be in the Hall of Fame.

His kids were lucky as they play for good teams.

    That happens.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • your an asshole. I'm a saints fan. And i love Archie, but one game, think it was 77 against the bucs, he had 8 consecutive inteception pick-offs, yeah. that can help anygame. Saints are proud to have the history of a great QB, and you wanna be a dick. Hate people like you, BTW. the Dallas cowgirls cry with every loss they get. So, yeah.

  • holy crap man, he said that Archie was a great QB who played on a not so great saints team. The saints were not very good back then, and archie really was a very good QB. Broadway Joe namoth and brett Farve have both thrown more picks than him so don't just go insulting your own team. you freakin' jackass.

  • Peyton signed for a shitty team like his dad

The Colts went 3-13 the first year Peyton was there.

  • well that was in the past

  • @catrachowhodat87 PEYTON WAS WAYYYYY BETTER THAN HIS FATHER...AND ELI ACTUALLY HAS MORE NATURAL ABILITY THAN PEYTON...

  • @catrachowhodat87

With one difference, the Colts front office were more competent at that time. Also helped when they got Marvin Harrison as well.

  • @GeorgeVreelandHill are saints still a bad team? hmmm

  • @charmedfover He was talking about when Saints couldn't even win 4 regualr season games in one season. The Saints from then and now are different.

  • @GeorgeVreelandHill He sure was a great QB.

  • @GeorgeVreelandHill Couldn't have said it any better myself! Archie was a GREAT qb, on a LOUSY team!

  • You ar a good commenter.

    Too bad your on Youtube.

If you were on Facebook or Twitter, you would be famous.

Your friends are lucky as they comment on good sites.

    That happens.

    FeebleNosemanny

  • Archie Manning is the man.

  • Hey, this guy fathered not one but TWO Super Bowl MVP QBs. What a family!

  • Good video of a thrilling finish in what was another season to forget in New Orleans.

Archie could do many things on the field; but when a QB doesn't have an O-line, he ends up running for his life.

Had he been given a proper supporting cast, he would have played in a few playoff games. Instead, he owns the distinction of having the lowest lifetime winning pct among QB's; and was probably the most sacked pivot in NFL history.

He gave all he had to give.

  • archie was the best qb ever just had no offensive line and still managed

  • geaux saints

  • archie shude be in the nfl hall of fame

  • Good song 4 da Saints!

  • yeah, a preview of things to come: 12 more years before they actually broke the .500 barrier. and that was total luck on that Manning pass. he had nice form, but he wasn't that good. Peyton's so superior it's ridiculous...

  • dont take this the wroung way but your speaking out your ass i mean if he was drafted by any other team but the saints {i love the saints and am glad they took him}he would have won a super bowl

  • you know its funny theres QBs that have done a lot more but he has got to be one of the most popular today

  • I read somewhere that, with two sons winning back to back Super Bowls, Archie's sperm is in great demand. A joke.

  • Does anyone else notice at the :54 mark, where Archie breaks out of the pack, rolls right and throws on a dead run to Tinker Owens looks hauntingly like a similar throw made by Eli in the Superbowl, other than Archie looks much smoother?

  • He and Bobby Douglass unfortunately will not be remembered in that elite class by many;but any 6 year old who watches the film on these guys could figure out these cats are among the greatest of all-time.

  • wow odawg u hit it right on the nose. just like benson nowadays who dont spend adollar out his pocket to get us quality players(to those who say hey we got alot of great players save it until offseason when we lose will smith and deuce macallister.) i dont think people grasp the concpet of how GOOD archie really was....

  • Damn. that kick was ugly (1:07)

  • True Tragedy. With semi-competent ownership, Archie would be remembered for the being the great QB he was supposed to be instead a of being a guy who always put up a good fight in losing efforts. Only the Culverhouses were MORE incompetent. This guy was MORE talented than his sons...he could throw AND he could RUN.

  • The best receiver he had was Wes Chandler, the Saints have never been known for having great WRs for the most part. Joe Horn is the only other great one in recent times.

  • That's true. He had Chandler and Chuck Muncie as his RB during his best seasons. HOWEVER...most people remember those two guys as CHARGERS not Saints. Those guys became legends in San Diego; after they left, Archie's career with the Saints was basically over.

  • yeah they traded Chandler too after he started getting recognition. Meacon, the owner, was trading the good players for less talent and pocketing the cash. He kept Archie though to fill seats

  • Well...although he never got a lot of attention and notoriety from the newsmedia, ERIC MARTIN was a pretty damn good receiver during the Mora-Hebert days. I'm sure he was their all-time leading receiver when he retired. Eric definitely had opposing defenses respect.

  • yeah i remember he ran like he hat shit in his pants but he had hands like glue n he could take bad hits all day long

  • look at the play at .50 seconds. it is not near as good as eli manning's play in the superbowl but man, it looks almost the same. must run in the family. and for other people who think he was not a good QB, he was so much better than say, Bradshaw..some people just got drafted by a much better team. The Saints sucked at the time

  • I really enjoyed going to Tulane Stadium as a child some of my best memories much better than the superdome.

  • Archie was a naturally all around talented athlete.

  • So it's not me that thinks he was a lot more mobile than his sons?

  • He had 4-40 speed. He was Michael Vick with an arm

  • Mike Vick had arm strength he just chose not to use it LOL

  • oh ya if the saints had a D-fence back than he could have led them to a super bowl

  • Archie was always a scrambling qb. At Ole Miss, he had as many yards running as throwing. His sons are pocket passers. Eli can scramble a bit more than Peyton, but Peyton has become a little more mobile the last couple of years.

  • Archie would have a better shot at 5 rings with the Steelers than Bradshaw would have had at 1 with the Saints.

  • Yes, I would love to see more Saints clips with Archie. I grew up watching Archie play in Tulane Stadium before the Superdome was built. Superdome was ok but my best memories were watching the Saints at the Tulane Stadium.

  • I had season tickets in Tulane stadium. A kid's ticket, SW end zone, row 5, seat 14, $15 for the entire season. We'd sell parking in our drive way and then walk to the game. Man, that was passing a good time.

  • I miss the all-white jerseys/pants. We should bring that back, at least once on the throwback weekend.

  • was archie a HOF

  • yeah, he's in it

  • Daints JHall of Fame...Not in the NFL hall of fame

  • If you mean the Saints Hall of Fame, yes. He was the first inductee. He's not in the NFL Hall, obviously. Roger Staubach said that if Archie had been with the Cowboys, they would've won (I forget how many) Superbowls. It's in Archie's book somewhere.

  • If only Archie could have been with say...the Steelers, or The Raiders...there's not telling how many titles he may have won.

  • THIS WAS ON NFL CHANNLE

  • love those all white unis. have never seen them "in action" before.

  • That was really cool. I hardly ever get to see clips of Archie Manning.

  • the best QB of all time. What he could have done with a team

  • WE WANT MORE ARCHIE MANNING

  • I love it! Can you find more old clips of Archie?
