of course that's up to your opinion, but I think fiddle music sounds beautiful by itself as well with a band. And yep, at Clifftop, the fiddle contest is solo. There are also band contests.

I was just reading the rules for this years festival, they can have up to 2 accompanists with them.

@KennWV I think must of the bass competitions are usually played along with a banjo or so I've seen in the past. Never seen it played by itself in a comp, lol.
