  • It was so scary at night ;_;

  • MEMORY

  • The suns gone down...better drink my own piss.

  • the only level that was scary as a little kid was creepy castle i even had a dream about it once. ah nintendo will never be the same again. R.I.P old nintendo

  • Ohhh chucky :"). I really do miss this game. But... THOSE DAMN TOMATOS.... And beavers....

  • When I was 6, I was afraid of the big annoying tomatoes.

  • Comment removed

  • @folkmetalking me to, and the giant spider

  • At night @_@

  • Same. It was so creepy I turned of the system every single time.

  • I love how Kirkhope can completely do that opposite of what a nighttime variation would normally sound like. Usually it'd be more calming, relaxing and serene. This is creepy, eerie and gives me the chills. Definitely wouldn't be caught dead listening to this music alone in the dark in some spooky woods. Or anywhere else for that matter.

  • perfect halloween music

  • When I was younger I hated it when it was night. i thought it was scary.

  • I HATED THOSE FUCKING TOMATOES

  • thank god they werent taking drug when they created this level unlike on banjo-tooie with cloud cukoocoo land...(wait they were HOW ELSE DID THEY COME UP WITH THE 'SHROOMS GUY!)

  • evil tomatoes check

    evil skellingtons check

    giant spiders check

mushrooms that are actually enemies check

epic boss fight with chunky check

memories that will forever be with this gamer check

*why does it seem that dk 64 is underrated compared to supermario 64?)

  • @marie90 Because while Donkey Kong 64 is a great game, it has many, mostly minor, flaws that give the game a gross aftertaste in hindsight.

  • @MajBlood What gives you a gross aftertaste about this game.

  • @badreality2 Too many collectibles and like a gazillion of repetitive minigames.

  • @marie90 because people think that this game is a clone of banjo kazooie

  • @marie90 because supermario 64 was much more of a pioneer, there was simply no comparison to it when it came out. banjoe kazooie & donkey kong etc came along thanks to sm64. ..Donkey Kong 64 is an easier, but better game probably today.. I mean if you had to pick up & play one, but mario came first.

As much as I enjoyed dk64.. It didn't excite me like sm64 did, because there was less revolutionary too it. I had already played 3d platformers, and already familiar with their puzzles

  • @marie90 so dk64 was a cakewalk.. I never felt challenged like i did played sm64 (great idea to hide the stars with only minor hints) or banjo kazooie 1. I had the same problem with banjoe tooie (but bk2 & dk64 were still great games and all.. that just happens in gaming.. once you've played a few...

  • @marie90 Its because rare made this game! RARE knows how to make games!!!

  • This level creeped me out... and I loved every second of it. :O

  • 2 get lost in the dark forest or got eaten by the big spider, because there were as small as Tiny, when she jumped into her box :D

  • Frickin tomatoes... >_<

  • The music on all the old games is 1,000,000,000Times better than the music on modern games!

  • @ThreeeSomeee agree 100%

    its sad, but true :S

this game was my complete childhood i want my n64 back so bad :(

  • @GuzXTrance I'm glad I kept mine, and I will always keep it along with my gamecube.

  • A beatiful song remixed can sometimes become something scary.

  • 243412

  • Who's listening to this while it's nightime?

  • Had I not played this game in my childhood.....I would be a total dumbass right know

  • I still have green tomato flashbacks.

  • if it gets dark, thats when i shut off the n64.

  • My explanation for the dislike: K. ROOL IS REAL!

  • The scaries thing in this game for me when I was young was the angry aztec and you get a banana in this 1 building and a gun target thing appeared then a guy yells "GET OUT!"

  • @MultiAsh12 for me, it was that as well, and also the Frantic Factor boss, Mad Jack.....auugghh.....

  • @FranceTheProject I know right it was so scary but I wanna play the game again. :(

  • @FranceTheProject I lol at mad jack who doesnt like phyco ducks lol

  • @FranceTheProject Also the Puff Fish

  • @MultiAsh12 That scared the hell outta me. I'll never for get that moment, just like I'll never forget "OOHHHH BANANA!"

  • @MultiAsh12 I thought I was the only one that got scared with that D:

  • @AlfredoDelDrama HECK NO!

  • @MultiAsh12 That STILL scared me to this day. lol

  • @MultiAsh12 to me it always sound like Gaara from Naruto...

  • @MultiAsh12 Holy crap, that scared me as well. I was three years old, it was the middle of the night (of course I wasn't sleeping like I was supposed to be), and suddenly that STUPID VOICE growls: GET OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @DarkCrescendo I had to turn off the game right away to prevent me from having night mares. :)

  • @MultiAsh12 the duck boss scared the shit out of me

  • @XxChoosingxX There is no duck boss.

  • @MultiAsh12 jack in the box

  • XD When I was younger, I loved this game. It was/is Nintendo's best.. But those the tomato things... *shudders*

  • ..this and Creepy Castle were the best.<33

I LUV anything with horror, even though this game isn't horror, but I liked the creepy elements it had.

  • I diden't like that wolf : 24 and owl : 0:41 and 0:14

  • people just dont understand its the music that makes a game memorable. if they threw this music in any game (doesnt matter) i would be reeeeaaaallly happeh

  • i almost peed my pants.

  • Best level in the world

  • Me the first time playing here: "Ooh you can turn it to night? I bet the music is peacful and there's a bright moon and a nice starry night sky :)" *changes it to night* "Ok try big creepy moon, dark skt, and killer fucking tomatoes that can't fucking die!"

  • ahem...I have but one word relating this to my childhood...

    "MOOOOOOMMMMYYYYY!"

  • night time on this level scared the Sh*t out of me

  • @Christianrocker1990 Hey. at least it's less scarier then the Creepy Castle level.

  • walk through an empty park at 2 in the morning with this on full blast on headphones~ or sit in the center of the local football ground, you can play survival horror without the controller~

  • I remember racing that smart-mouthed fucking rabbit in that forest. He ate my dust!!!

  • i was 7 years old when I met the tomatoes for the first time. and that was at night!

I think I dropped out with that game for maybe 3 years because of that scary moment

  • i would LITTERALLY turn off the system when i saw that big spider or the metal fish. or that damned eel from super mario 64

  • @klashmaster95 I HATED the under water levels of super mario games.

  • Those damn tomatoes...

  • Scary >_>

  • I love how scary the music is,it still scares me

  • Fall asleep to the theme to have a pleasant dream. Fall asleep to this to have a nightmare. I never paid much attention to this music before because I adored the day theme, but it's awesome. It's everything it's supposed to be...a creepy night walk through the woods. But one thing...they recycled some of the effects from the Mad Monster Mansion theme. (such as the howl and the part from 1:17-1:35 is a slowed down version of a similar-sounding part.

  • One of my favorite games. It was amazing it was sorta scary at parts like the mechanical fish in gloomy galleon but even tho I never beat it I loved the different levels and always wanted to play it. The boss for this level was insane

  • That goodness I´m not scared of the night. Playing this Fungi Forest was quite difficult. I loved playing the day and night gameplay of any type of game.

  • :) Donkey Kong 64 was quite frightening to play when you were little. Wish they'd do games like this again - family games don't always mean waving your arms to have fun. Or be freaked out. :/

  • This and Creepy Castle were the best levels in the game IMO.

  • Man. I miss playing games like these.

  • DONKEY KONG 64 forever <3

  • ahhhhh, nostalgia!!! this is that one good ol' game that i want to get back more than anything else. best memories ever :)

  • OOOOOOHHHH

  • i can imagine myself by me walking on a halloween night

  • @DaffyHersheys100 Yeah, and then suddenly a

grim reaper guy comes runnin' at you from a distance

    with the forest boss song!

  • @Ruttie2 i know right i agree with u

  • @DaffyHersheys100 That's how it always ends,

and then it turned out to be another one of them

freemasons, helping out good ol' lucifer, who

they believe is out to ''help'' people like the people

who control our world, know what i'm sayin'?

But let's not talk about that.

  • @AquadiustheHedgehog Thats one of the appeals to this game. It's one of the best games ever made, but it still scares the hell out of everyone. Fungi forest is my least favorite level, mostly because its hard to navigate in it xp

  • the 1 person that disliked this must have been playstation

  • @LetsPlayKings Naw it has to be Wii because they don't like the old skool Nintendo which was kick ASS!

  • @LetsPlayKings Oh, look Microsoft..

  • @LetsPlayKings and now xbox ? ;3

  • Recuerdos sólo recuerdos...

  • OMG i keep going to these videos and only remembering it when i hear it. as i listen to it i keep thinking "ohhh yaaaaahhhhh I REMEMBER THIS!!" lol

  • Can NOT get me to play at night! Prolly the reason why I never beat the game....nope, it was the bees.

  • ist it fungi or funghi??

because funghi is italian for mushrooms...

  • @passiondeathboy Fungi is the plural of Fungus. This level is the 2nd or plural incarnatino of Banjo-Kazooie's lost level, FungUS Forest. Get it? They needed a forest level, and Rare just happened to have a backup unreleased level,...

  • @Quinn24589

    ohhh ok i get it

  • @passiondeathboy Yeah I love Pizza al funghi :) But this fungi is probably the latin form, so they don't need to put an "h"

  • @passiondeathboy Fungi is just fungus in general.

  • @Zawicki1

yeah guys ive come across that fact right after quinn's comment ! I'm good thx

  • @passiondeathboy Yeah, be quiet. Nobody is talking to you.

  • the spider was my favorite part........ although it was a dick because it was spiting on me....old rare was the best

  • I want my old nintendo back. D:

  • I cannot stand Koshas. Most annoying enemies in the game. Stupid guys take off 2 units of a melon as opposed to just 1 and the only thing that can hurt them are instruments or the shockwave attack.

  • @jmario232 Actually, you can also defeat Koshas by throwing an orange grenade at them while they're trying to lift their clubs off the ground after doing an overhead swing attack with it.

  • @TheLightningstrike11

Oh you could? I did not know that. Those guys must be a reference to Kutlasses because they are vulnerable to attack when trying to lift their weapon which is clearly larger then them. I may have to try that when I decide to play this again. I already beat it 101%

  • aka: Creepy castle dungeon

  • This is nothing compared to the masturbating old man song.

  • @PhioenixPinion or cranky kong passing a massive kidney stone and moaning in pain from it and the kidney stone became the crystal coconut =D

  • This was my home in DK64.

  • @OgnarPliskin holy shit I pretended that too lol!

  • this is one of my favortie music from the game it is so cool

  • sounds like mad monster mansion and fungi forest combined..... aka:scary as fucking hell D=>

  • What starts out as happy & cheery in the first two levelsof the game, turns dark, austere & creepy.....laaateeeer!!

  • That game had so many scary parts...those GET-OUT temples in angry aztec, frantic fatory, fungi forest at night, creepy castle...

  • @breegull64 Holy shit, the GET-OUT temples were fucked up!

  • was so scary

  • Memeries LOLZZ i luv dis game still have it too

  • Someone should put these tracks in acapella style. That would be totally badass.

  • it may creep some people out but, i loved this music when i was a kid! my uncle had to get me from playing this level when it was at night~

  • i always had a hard time on the boss for this world

  • The coyote howling creapes me out to this day.

  • It's scarier as this area is more mysterious and you're not sure how to feel. The day time is so cheerful you wouldn't even think that night would be that creepy. You're already creeped out by creepy castle but you know that that was going to be a horror themed level. So when this came on in an otherwise cheerful level , you weren't sure where you were anymore.

  • was it just me or was the boss for this level really hard 0.0

  • i'm hearing orange grenades exploding... uh oh

  • Wish I still had a 64 I wonder where I put it...

  • The background sound effects melded in with the song are excellent too, especially in this level. The wolf's howling and owl's hooting really created ambience when walking around this level at night.

  • One thing Kirkhope was so good at was adapting the same themes to create different moods. Some might see it as unoriginal, but I see it as an amazing skill.

This song is an excellent example. Same tune as the day version, but the mood it creates is something else entirely. The day version is upbeat and cheerful while the night version is spooky and ominous.

  • @lughlongarm76 I know, they did it alot in Banjo too.

For example, in Mad Monster Mansion the music was like a halloween comedy kind of feeling, but when you got in what was actually meant to be scary, it lost all feeling and got creepy. As well as creating a more sewer-like feel for inside Loggo.

  • I like the day version better.

  • This level scared the shit out of me when i was a kid.

  • i wish this game would be put on the virtual console

  • i loved dk... until the game continually crashed.... very sad... then i bought another one..... SAME STORY!! (sniff)

  • this music make my scarrr when i was a kid :(:(

  • I always thought this place was scarier than either of the "scary" levels, Frantic Factory and Creepy Castle. I especially love the intro's creepy take on the bright-sounding intro of the day version.

  • i would totally go out & buy another N64 just for this game. i'd be the coolest guy in my college dorm. lol

  • @TheShoe1990 you can prolly get it off torrents. find an n64 sim and the game.

  • @HWAlcaz i have hella emulators for my computer, but they just don't have that "feel" of playing the real thing. besides, i haven't found an emulator out there than can run this game PERFECTLY

  • I was scared of this place at daytime because of the big guy that throws bombs (I called him cherry guy) freaked me out and those imitation mushrooms that pop out if you get to close

  • u think those r scary try the killer tomatos and by the way the guys who throws bombs is klump

  • gotta love the background effects... the owl, the wolf and any others i might have missed

  • @whistlemasterX you'd love banjo kazooie music then. they use the same instruments, background music, and effects as these songs do XD

  • as a kid, i wasnt scared of the nighttime rly. now, im scared of it(if i make it 2 fungi forest soon) lol. now, 15 yrs old. lol

  • @KingdomAtWar lol im 15 too, and night time scares me like hell.

  • killer tomatoes!!!!!!!1

  • i love everything about this game so much

    my favorite video game!!!!

  • Koshas are so annoying.

  • I played this level a few weeks ago when it was 3 in hte morning. With the lights off. I am still kinda afraid of this music... And I'm 19... :(

  • @YamiGekusu

Im 20 and it stills gets to me. kinda sad in a nostalgic way.lol

  • @YamiGekusu it's ok to be sceared. 1. play it in the day. 2.Keep the lights on. 3. In the game, PLAY IT WHILE IT IS DAY!

  • @MiniVoltar I only have time to play it at night D:

  • I played this when I was like seven, and I dreaded the night time because it scared the crap outta me. and yet I enjoyed the creepy castle. wierd.

  • i used to find daytime scarier. stupid klumps...

  • Esto me recuerda de pequeño a los cuentos de la caperucita y el lobo.

  • i remember this music all too well

    this is the best world

  • I think half of the reason it took me so long to get all of the bananas on the Fungi Forest is because I refused to do anything at night.

I tried it like, once, heard one of the "club guys" (as I called them) in the distance and ran away, changed it back to day, and didn't return until years later.

Still creeps me out to this day. To be honest, I think that DK64 as a whole was a creepy game. Amazing, but creepy as all hell.

  • I know, I kept saying to myself I would much rather play F.E.A.R. or Resident Evil before I go to bed than this!!!

  • lol

this game for kids around 7 years old = unbeatable xD

well at least for me it was :p

until i reached the age of like 9 :D

  • How did you ever handle the Creepy Castle level right after this? :P

  • @AquadiustheHedgehog I was so afraid to xD! I always cried at night time in Fungi Forest ._.

  • @AquadiustheHedgehog

It was all the same to me just like you at first.

But then, I got the courage to do it and got all the bananas =)

Now I smile in my mind when I replay these parts.

  • @AquadiustheHedgehog Lol i did this too

  • @AquadiustheHedgehog >_< Same, but with DKC. I loved Donkey Kong, I thought he was awesome but I was afraid of him at the same time.

  • @AquadiustheHedgehog Man i know what you mean the creepiest part of this game that still Freaks the crap out of me is the mechanical fish at gloomy galleon thats just waiting for you. don't worry i know exactly what you mean.

  • @AquadiustheHedgehog I noticed that too. DK64 had the same comic humor of Banjo Kazooie, but it also had some darker overtones to it.

I also think that the music in DK64 is a bit darker and more lyrical than that of BK.. but still written by the same guy.

  • @AquadiustheHedgehog The masonic side

of nintendo all creeps us out at some point...

  • the club dudes? those guyz were cute. the skeletonz were the onez that scared the crap out of me. until I found out they die in 1 hit xD

  • @AquadiustheHedgehog yea me 2 D: i did not like this level :/ i still have not gotten them all

  • @AquadiustheHedgehog Truly, the makers unintentionally made this a survival horror-game

  • Man, I hated that place at night, sooo Scaweeeee

  • 1st time was ez
