This reminds me of Woody Guthrie's 'Baltimore to Washington'. Pretty much the same tune, I'd say, or not far off anyway. But this is one of my Carter Family favourites. Love it!
"The Cannonball". A.P. Carter learned the song from his friend "Esley" Riddle. Who learned it from Blind Lemon Jefferson. Riddle's family had played the tune for generations. A.P. added more lyrics including (my personal favorite) the line "my baby left me she even took my shoes...."

I grew up listening to the Carters, and all the old timers....when every one else was into the Beatles, the Stones, etc.....still the best music!!!!
