  • glad i dont have to hear that annoying buzzing sound every time i start my -83 240D! would drive me crazy!

  • lol ... love how you just tack the starter and it fires up. Nothing beats a classic Mercedes.

  • You need to disconnect that seatbelt buzzer. It's pretty easy, just unplug the two-prong connector under your driver's seat. You'll still retain the headlights-on buzzer, and you'll make your car a bit more euro-like to go with those headlights you've got. :)

  • what is the circular light on the dash

  • Sounds really nice

  • I want one of those. Great car, great engine, good looking, comfortable, safe reliable and easy to park.

  • What is the buzzer actually buzzing for? Surely cars this old don't have seatbelt reminders.

  • It is a seatbelt reminder, but the feature is more seen in the US versions than the Euro, which only have the headlamp on warning buzzer but not the seatbelt warning buzzer.

  • man i luv to hear that buzzing sound when i startup my 1991 4MATIC to go to skool every morining.

  • Likewise...

  • what do u mean

  • I mean I also like the buzzing sound every morning before heading off. :)

  • For a car this expensive, the buzzer has got to go in favor of a chime.

  • Well for a 24 year old car, that buzzer has done its job countless times and warned me that my lights were on when I forgot to switch them off. Chimes only came during the 1990's cars. This w123 was built in 1983 and designed in the '70's.

  • I love the w123 diesels. If I could get one I would keep it forever and ever =)

  • personally, I like the buzz better than the chime :]

  • @glokc19 my jeep has that buzz too. It's grown on me :D

  • It's the seat belt reminbder buzzer. Haven't you ever heard one before?

  • what's that beep?/

  • That car look like its in amazing shape.

  • DIESEL ENGINE :D .. i think that's y :D

  • why the wait to turn the key, before starting?

  • You should even do it to gassers, less wear and tear on the starter. Keep it smooth and slow on older cars.

  • You have to let the glow plugs warm up, otherwise you are going to have a hell of a time starting it if it is a diesel, (which in this case it is)

  • its called glow plugs, you have to wait till they are warm enough to start the engine successfully. you know if its warm enough when the rightmost amber light with the two loops symbol turns off
