  • Aerodynamics of a tissue box and 4-speed tranny = a good showing but no win for the BMC

  • viva l'alfa

  • I remember Longman building 1340 Ford engines to fit in Minis....way back then!

  • the alfa was playing with you...

  • weber sound is so fucking cool.......

  • wait hang on the alfa has about 3 more seconds left and all its electricts will fail

  • mini = billion times more fun

  • Nice Alfa

    Alfa ftw :D

  • NICE

  • Bye Bye mini..

  • Wouldn't really call that a race,you got hammered!!!I used to have a 2.5 v6 156 and it wasn't a particularly quick car!

  • Shame its a straight line race, the alpha is bound to win on the straights but through the corners he wouldn't get near the mini. And i'm all for modded a-series engines honda engines aren't exactly original, but they are fast and very reliable engines and there's plenty of them just don't wreck the rest of the car.

  • vtec isnt THAT good. idk why people think vtec is so great. How about redo the entire topend and add a supercharger...thats the real way to add power. (just dont forget to do the bottom too)

  • all that shit on the mini, and he never passed the Alfa...nota race, just a chase.

  • yeah, forget the engine is twice the capacity, that means nothing.......

  • @burton76

    ok,but its almoust unfair!

  • ha, if you listen to the engine, this mini has a standard box (too much rev drop between ratios) also, by sound of it, it isn't running right and it aint a very good spec. if he tried again with its current spec, thing would be different

  • If you like the Vtec buy a bloody Honda FFS lol

  • but who wud win in the bends not the alfa ill tell you tht and if th mini was a vtec it wud have been byebye alfa

  • lol the alpha was always going to win but i have a feeling 0-60 times are close and round some roundabouts the mini would win but a straight line is the alpha unless you vtec that mini lol

  • leuk ding

en ging die alfa echt voluit? want ik weet wel ongeveer hoe zo'n ding vooruit komt en dat is niet mis dus dan zal dat in een mini nog wel extremer voelen

  • and its easy just dnt change gear yu knob

  • u hav twin dicks on ya hed stil dnt make u go faster wen ur gettin on boys

  • ur a mug i get my focus abuv 4000 and its 1.4 so shut it pootang lika u lik mens balls

  • 150 hp for a small engine....sumore an NA engine...now that ROX bigtime...yeah maybe d big cc car can beat that mini at straight line but put it on a REAL track n u see that mini can be thrown at corners at high speed, brake later n speeds away at corner exit leaving d bigger cc,much heavier car eating d dust...REAL racing is all about skill n timing of braking n balance at corners...not just how fast u can finish a quarter mile...drag race is for wuss (j/k :P)

  • mini is nice bro. and to all the haters,,, you own a mini cause its a fuken classic. awesome car and is reliable, just build it right and she'll last forever. was never realy a straigh line car put one corner in there and that alfa is fuked.

  • i disagree with minis being reliable.and theres no point putting a fuckn alfa 156 against a mini. theyr both awesum cars in their own right. and for all u fkers hu talk all this shit about putn these 1.6 vtecs in ur minis get fucked. its not a real mini if its got a honda engine in it...and dont get me started on the bmws with mini badges

  • mini's can be a v reliable car , had one as my daily driver for 7 years. you just have to maintain them well, and not bore the shit of them. mini is mini keep em clean and classic,

  • aaahha yeh bro typo error was supposed to say unreliable. i own a 1982 leyland mini and as long as u look after them they will last forever =] its already lasted 27 years!

  • try an 8 port head with twin webers and 1:7 rockers the alfa wud be chokin on mini dust

  • A flyby video of this would be great

  • nice try.

  • MINIS RULE YOU CUNTS

  • t44fly hw can u say minis old shit and boring? when and alfa is boringest car alive

  • Them Alfas are quick. Good on the Mini for giving it a go!

  • get the head compression ratio seriously lowered then bold a garret t2 onto it, Alfa wont see you for dust...

that is untill the drop gears give out (experience talking) so stick some straight cuts in and you`re laughing!

  • Massive RPM on a 3 bearing crank... LOL, thats a quick Mini...

  • minis are ALWAYS better

  • Minis are fantastic cars - especially for handling.

in 1958 a ferrari test driver drove a pre-production mk1 mini and said this when he got out: "if it wasn't so ugly, i'd have to kill myself". pretty good testament if you ask me

the real test would be to take the alfa on around some twisty bends... the mini would absolutely DESTROY it.

  • @veyronman well, the real test would be to drive the roads you usually drive. it doesn't help to be quick in the bends when there are none. you need to have VERY tight bends to be quicker with the mini. that said, the mini was a great car back in its days, but suspensions have come a long way.

  • @Account091027 the mini is better then most cars out there at the moment STILL with handling even in the slightest of bends, its like there on rails!! you have to spend alot money on a car to get such good standard suspension, i go out with my mate in his civic type r and RAPE him in the bends i almost feel harsh! haha

  • @saviour11 haha nick his engine!!

  • @veyronman i reckon classic mini's look fuckin awesome =] haha. and definately , mini's come into their own on the bends. i shat all over a holden v6 on a windy road out west. i do think that 2.5 v6 in the 156 is a fuckin sexy unit though, my mum has one and the sound it makes and the torque it produces is orgasmic haha

  • @veyronman not really i got the alfa and yea the 1.8 and the 2.5 v6 are great with handling but not the best. but the 2 litre engine and the gta model are very VERY good around bends. still not as good as mini but very good indeed

  • the ammount you spend on that alfa....you could spend on a mini with race suspension/brakes, and a 150bhp turbo engine proably more, and that will whipe the floor with the alfa tbh.

  • If you can do that for under £2500 let me know ;)

P.S Autodelta can take the 156 to near 280BHP with a bolt on turbo kit for under a grand

  • right so you add that on there it gives you 186bhp/tonne.

for 3500 with a mini i can put a 185bhp red top engine in it and lighten it to less then 700kg.

    this gives 264bhp/tonne

    WINNER!

  • i reckon i could beat your mini in a xr3i with the doors bonnet and bootlid taken off and holes drilled in everything... but yeah the mini would do it in style.

  • indeed.

however with minis its when you build a turbo engine to crack that 150bhp mark, they become brutally fast :D.

    like your name btw lol

  • hehe, indeed, 150 bhp is great fun on a car that weighs around 650 kilos

  • Mini 1380cc, Stage 3, 285SP cam, 1:5 roller rockers, Weber 40mm with K&N, LCB and Jan Speed exhaust wont give 150 brake

  • i replied to Flyinggears2002, who had it about a mini with a turbo, which can produce 150bhp...

  • i raced a carrera gt in my old 1275, kept up with it for about a second.

i was driving along a27 once and a veyron overtook me, tried keeping up with that aswell, understandably failed to.

  • Italian do it better ;-)

  • It's not a car, IT is ALFA! ;)

  • For less money than a buggered about mini I could buy a 156 GTA - serious motor!!!

  • ...which will break down every time there's a day in the week

  • My 156 has had 3 days off the road due to breakdown in nearly 5 years - faulty German electrical part !! My previous alfa - a 166 ( serious motor!) never missed a beat in 3 years

  • wow. that mini is awesome.

  • wow, if i ever want to know how to waste money i know where to come!!

  • i beat an alfa 156 on my aprilia rs 154 ther nt tht great !!!!!!

  • ahhauuhauh i'm italian and i have hard modified mini...but alfa is alfa.....wild horsepower.compliments for your mini sound!

  • I have my own 147 Alfa...Alfa Romeo rulessss. ;-)

  • At the moment I'm totally rebuilding my gearbox: Straight cut gears:) My 4th synchro had some problems. I placed new crankshaft and con rod bearings. Furthermore I placed a new Kent oilpump. I'll immediately post new video's when the motor is running again.. take a look at our website for more photo's and details; miniprojects . nl

  • very cool post ! I have a Kent 286 SP going into my resto project. my dream is to have a 45 DCOE webber, roller rockers and the sound of your one is just making my dream that much more desperate !! Give us more videos, i love the sound of the 286 !!!

  • fantastic. Love minis (have two, ok one is in "a lot of boxes") Alfa's are beautiful. Cool post.

  • it's not about winning a race, it's about taking a challenge! what challenge is a 2,4 v6 for a 1380! annoying people with bigger cars, that's fun, gotta have it!

  • respect!! at least you are man enough to post this when getting beat. quality mini dude :)

  • u would see great diferense if u ride alone dude ;)

  • Off the lights the Alfa wasnt that much quicker! I love Mini's and Alfas. Pretty sure my '86 Mini would be blown away by the Alfa though!

  • Braaavooo Alfa

  • Swap engines with the Alfa, that'd sort it.

Those 2.5 V6's are good for 145mph with having a 6 speed box. Good effort tho!!

  • alfa rulez

  • dream on dude

  • mieljaar wat een klotestemmetjes!!

Wel lekkere minisound... volgend filmpje een tegen 3.0 V6? :D

  • Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuper mini!!!

    Loopt lekker door hoor!!!

    :)

  • Which mini is this?

  • For specs and pics look at our website (MiniProjects dot nl)

  • Don't listen to exmoorcakes, a well tuned A series mini engine will always come out on top!!!!! KAD twin cams are good but you need to rebuild them every 50,000 miles but thats not suprising when they rev to 9,000 rpm

  • nice mate

  • Vtec it.

Have you seen the VTec at the Nurburgring? Its on Youtube.

  • alfa v6 power

  • on a track the min would piss on the alfa no worries, specially considering the alfa would gradually fall apart on the way round and have loads of wiring problems resulting in a fire

  • ...or you could just buy a faster car!

  • 5 speed would be nice with stright cut gears!!!

  • Minisport now does there own in-house 7 port crossflow head. Not as good as the KAD twink, but probably cheaper!

  • how about a honda V-Tec....

  • true, my plans have changed im going for a b16a2 honda, thing being is im getting a hks manifold, wesco pistons imported from america changeing the cams and the crank change the comrods, megaquirt ecu and raise the rev limit to 10k also throttle bodies also, as there is no chance in me insuring it its going to be a track car only

  • "you better get some more power" it doesn't get much more from an a-serious unless u wanna do rebuilds every 3 months however a stage 4 head isent the best thing for power on a 1380 proably better to put a kad twincam 16 valve or failing that why not do what im doing, lotus elise engine

  • you just got pwn3d, you better get some more power, its embarrassing!
