@mayorwest12 no, the gnat doesn't even notice the water. the red veins of the plant go under the clear water making it look invisible. the gnat is licking the sides of the plant between the dangerous downward-pointing hairs where sugary nectar is being produced. that's its mistake. it wasn't expecting water to be below it
@MFWFW yes/ try to fill it up only about three fourths or half way up from the top. though in the first year the trap usually secretes its own juices if its given enough sun.
