  • i have a question canu freeze this after u stuff them?

  • @romero6788 Yes, the best way is to place them in the freezer on a plate or baking sheet so that they don't stick together. Then once they are frozen, you can place them in a plastic freezer bag :)

  • me encanto ...!!!!Gracias x el dato!!!! ;

  • @erikaadrianao Thank you :)

  • Hey there - I made these tonight - both steamed and deep fried - and they were a WINNER - beautiful.....thank you. I also made the shrimp and vegetable rice rolls - my kids think I'm soooo clever now...hahaha.

  • @AussieTrueBlueRecipe Thank you so much for trying these! :)

  • What folding style is the first u do? the little hats

  • I alwalys havea described them as 'little hats' easy to wrap, making sure you wet the edges. I LOVE THIS SIMPLE delicious recipe. thanks.

  • If I wanted to make wontons in freezer, do I boil them first?

  • @53531640 No, you can just freeze them. I usually lay them out on a baking sheet with wax paper and freeze them. Once they are frozen you can remove them and place them in a bag. Then when you cook them cook them straight from the freezer - don't defrost them first :)

  • I think you did an awesome job. Really easy to follow.

  • @Kipskate Thank you - I appreciate this :)

  • Thanks for the vid. One bit of stylistic criticism, however. You need to eliminate the phrase "go ahead and..." from your vocabulary. Rewatch this video and listen to how often you use those three words, which add exactly zero to the meaning of a sentence.

  • @srollans lol..I know, this is an old video and I've changed this in my newer ones due to all the comments :)

  • Whenever I make wontons, I always have an issue of them puffing up on me. How do I prevent this?

  • also great with water chestnuts in it

  • Hi. Can you use any other kind of oil to fry the wontons?

  • @Envira76 You can use vegetable oil or canola oil as well :)

  • i want the boiled wonton really bad

  • Looks yummy! I bought all the ingredients to make wontons but didnt know how! Now i do! Thanks for the great video!

  • do u put a damp paper towel on both sides, for the wrap wont dry.

  • @Mustang5516 I usually have the stack of wrappers that I'm working with and just lay a damp papertowel on top. Also, sometimes I place on on top of the plate of finished wontons so that they don't dry out and crack as well :)

  • i like wonton ---just when i try to make them..it tears or the wraps get to dry

  • @Mustang5516 To keep the wrappers from drying out place a damp paper towle over them while making the wontons. Also, placing too much filling in the center will sometimes cause them to tear as well :)

  • @Mustang5516

    thanks alot...ill try it

  • I HAVE THE SAME CUTTING BOARD

  • So we can cook them fried or boil? U don't boil it then fry it right? Lol

  • @jushlub You can either boil them OR fry them :)

  • hey loser-----if u dont like cooking----then dont watch--------ill be like u----Lol

  • @LiL0M0MMA You can use any oil that has a high smoke point, so vegetable oil would work fine as well :)

  • toasted wontons!!

  • is wonton wrapper is the same as eggrolls wrapper? ^^

  • @ruthsaromo1 Wonton wrappers are much smaller and usually thinner than eggroll wrappers :)

  • @AsianCookingmadeEasy can i use egrolls wrapper then xDD and cut it like wontons wrappers? ^^

  • @ruthsaromo1 The eggroll wrappers are sometimes a bit thicker depending on the brand you buy, but you can do this if you wish :)

  • @AsianCookingmadeEasy okie tn q ^w^

  • I was wondering myself about the dipping sauce for the fried wontons. Do you have a recipe for that? I had that in the restaurant and I could only make out it had soy sauce, ginger, green onions, sesame seeds and something making it sweet. Are you familiar with this sauce? It was served with the pork version.

  • The soup, and the wontons came out awesome! It taste just like getting it from a restaurant, which is nice, because with having a family, we can't afford to eat out much these days. The food was a huge hit for my kids. I have to buy some more wonton wrappers everyone loved the fried ones for munching on. Also I didn't know Publix was in other states, I thought it was a Florida chain, that's why I thought you lived there. I sure do miss it there.

  • Hi, just wanted to say I made Wonton soup, and it came out fantastic, just like I've had in the restaurants. I am going to make fried ones now, with the other half I have. I was wondering, I saw in your Chinese chicken stock recipe you had a Publix chicken. Do you stay in Florida? I used to live there, and hope to be back there soon.

  • @Mojosfire Hi - I'm so glad you liked the soup. I'm not in Fl, but my grandmother used to live there on the west coast in a little town about an hour south of Sarasota. It is so beautiful there and though it is mainly a retirement area, they have the best food and the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen. I hope to visit there again soon :)

  • I use a spray bottle full of water to mist the entire wrapper...I think it's easier..

  • I'm not sure if anybody else asked you this but how for those that don't eat pork??? What can I use???

  • @blackberrie86 Hi - you can use ground beef - I actually make the beef version for my husband - he doesn't eat pork either. I'll be posting a ground beef wonton video soon as well :)

  • Just made them! Turned out really well, but I added in some teriyaki marinade and water chestnuts. Thanks for the video, it was really helpful!

  • @rfdavis09 Thank you so much :)

  • These look lovely, can I freeze the boiled versions and then steam them to reheat?

  • @Slappingplastic Yes, freeze them on a baking sheet first so that they don't stick together. Then once frozen you can place them in a freezer bag. Then to reheat I usually boil them straight from the frozen state :)

  • @AsianCookingmadeEasy

Thanks so much, I can't wait to try these little beauties :)

  • Oh God! Thank you so so so so much! I have to do a unique cooking for an iron chef competition at school! You're a life-saver! :)

  • so easy to make, me and my dad makes them alot. Yummy

  • Thanks a lot very well taught

  • this video is very helpful. thank you!

  • Very nicely done! I learned a lot!

  • Thank you for your videos. Can you suggest a vegetarian option for wontons?

  • @Dragonlady66 I use all of the same ingredients but subsitute the inside with vegitarian soy sausage and egg subsitute, leave out the salt if its listed on the package ingredients already. Not the already form cooked kind of sausage patties but the kind in a roll like regular raw sausage.

If you don't eat soybean meat products. Add all the ingredients (salt/ginger) to finely shredded slaw mix (cabbage and carrot) don't need the egg if there is no meat or meat product at all.

  • Thanks for the great instruction. I'm making wontons tonight! Btw...you have very good-looking hands!

  • can you store them in the freezer? if so, how long?

  • Lol people ask disturbing dumb questions lol!

  • Maybe it's just me, but the boiled ones don't look nearly as tastey as the fried ones :P

  • Can you use ground turkey instead of pork?

  • @ammperry2 Yes, that should be fine. I sometimes use ground chicken and it comes out delicious :)

  • Can I use vegetable oil instead or peanut oil??

  • @UnderworldRod Yes :)

  • @UnderworldRod

If you're allergic to peanut oil look for another low smoking to non smoking oil such as corn oil. It has a simular burning factor as peanut oil. Vegitable oil it the highest smoking oil and it intends to cook your items to fast and or require you to change out the oil before you finish batches,

  • you forgot the shrimps?

  • Can you use chicken instead of pork? and if you can how much? 1.5lbs?

  • Can you use chicken instead of pork? and if you can how much? 1.5lbs?

  • can you put chicken instead of pork?

  • This is the first time I see one of your videos and I love the way you explain everything so thoroughly!

  • Great vid, just drove me nuts hearing "just like that" a million times lol.

  • Thank you.

  • I EFFIN LOVE WONTONS!!!!!!!!

  • That was very informative. I will have to do that one day. Can this also be made as wonton soup?

  • @tonysmile1 Yes, you can either add these to a soup broth after they cook; or cook them directly in the broth, which is what I usually do :)

  • I'm so damn hungry after watching this. I wish i could get the wonton wrappers here in Ireland :(

  • Outstanding instruction!!!!

  • Very clear instructions that even an amateur cook like me can understand. You need your own cooking show :)

  • This is wicked it's so idiot proof.

    Thanks.

  • Very clear and precise instructions.

  • Is there any way you could possibly post a video with the recipe for the lovely dipping sauce that you can always get with the steamed wontons? Ive always loved making steamed wontons but i can NEVER get the dipping sauce right. Pretty please with sugar on top. :)

  • @alraune84 Yes - I'll put that on my list of vid to do :)

  • @AsianCookingmadeEasy Thank you so very much.. this will definitely make my roommate happy.. lol. he loves the stuff and i cant figure out the recipe.

  • nice video but buffer the echo in the kitchen. suggestion....put up some roman shades on those windows, like bamboo, and add fresh plants.

now your vid will be perfect.

  • thanks for this recipe. It looks very easy. Love the accent, very cute.

  • @ 4:20 sustitute egg white for the bonding

  • I usually put water on just two adjacent sides of the wonton wrapper using the same spoon that I use to pick up the filling.

  • do u know a recipe for the black sauce that comes with steamed dumplings or steamed wontons from a chinese restaurant? Thankyou?

  • Thanks for making this video! I am a vegetarian and am probably going to use this method accept replacing the ground pork with wither tofu or mushrooms. I love wonton soup!

  • Very helpful, thank you!

  • Do you add salt to the water when boiling?

  • No - not for these I don't :)

  • could you know how to make crispy wanton with prawns

  • Yes - I will put this on my request list :)

  • love this recipe, thank you for making the video :)

  • Nice wrapping technique.

  • i need to know how to make wonton soup

  • I'll send u the link through youtube mail :)

  • is your name leela, lela,or lila

  • It's spelled "Lila" but pronounced "leela" :)

  • brought the wonton wrapper packet at store at only one dollar per packet -

  • Can u tell me how to make the wonton wrappers.

  • I have always just bought them from the store in pks .

  • I usually buy them pre made - but if I do make them I just use a mixture of water and flour. About 1/4 cup of water to each 1 cup of flour. Just knead it until it forms a dough; let it sit for about 15min, then roll it flat and cut it into squares :)

  • is it okay if we put shrimp instead?

  • Yes shrimp would be good too :)

  • fried onez looked great!

    i must try this 5/5

  • wow lady, you have a nice kitchen

  • Thank you ,,!! you are the best

  • great!!

  • hey i wonder :) when you're wontons are done boiling and you want to make a soup with it, what do you use? what's your advise? ;) i loved this vid!

  • To make wonton soup I usually just use chicken broth with some ginger and green onion added. I simply cook the wontons in the broth and add the green onions in towards the end :)

  • oh okay thank you so much! didn't think you'd actually reply :)

  • instead of using pork do you think i can use ground turkey?

  • Yes, that would work fine too :)

  • Awesome vid. Thanks for posting.

  • Your wontons kinda looks like tortelinis

  • They look like Spring Onions...

  • you should do a dvd i would deffinatly buy it

  • great video! thank you!

Yesterday a friend gave me recipe to serve w/ wontons. It comes w/ stir fried pineapple, red pepper, red onion , chicken and shrimps! really good!

  • best demonstration ever. I was wondering what do you use to make the flavor of the pork wontong and shrimp? thanks

  • If I make pork and shrimp wontons, I usually just use 1/2 pork and 1/2 shrimp and basically the same seasonings as I used here. I sometimes add a little sherry - just 1 tsp and a little sugar 1/2 tsp as well :)

  • Hey, I love your videos! I really appreciate how you take the time to make these.

I was wondering if you had a recipe for wonton soup base?

  • For the soup I usually just use chicken broth. About 4 to 6 cups, and then I cook the wontons in that. Once they are done I add some pepper and sherry to taste and then a few chopped green onions :)

  • can you suggest a dipping sauce with these?

  • I usually use a soy ginger sauce made with ¼ cup of soy sauce, 2 tsp minced fresh ginger and 3 tbsp rice wine vinegar. Sweet chili sauce is also great with the fried ones :)

  • i really like your recipes. your accent reminds me of Paula from Foodtv and I hope you keep it since it makes you different from the rest.

thanks for sharing your passion! :)

  • Thank you so much, that was the best demonstration that i have seen

  • what if during frying the outside is cooked and not the inside. how do i know if the filling is cooked properly. also can i substitute pork with something else?

  • If the outside has cooked before the inside, then turn the heat down lower. You want to try to keep the heat at about 350 F. The filling is cooked through once it is no longer pink.

Both ground shrimp or beef make great substitutes :)

  • Thanks, as usual I got some good ideas from your video! Please keep posting!

  • where in the US are you from? You have an accent.

  • I was actually born and raised in NJ, but moved to the south in '97 :)

  • I'm wondering about the cooking time when you boil. Do you really need 8-10 minutes? I read some recipes that only say to cook until they float to the surface, some that say you need only 2 minutes (with 1 tsp of filling) since you don't have a lot of pork. I'm just wondering since it is pork and I don't want to undercook or overcook. Thanks!

  • This is an interesting question. It does depend on how much filling you place inside. I always worry more about undercooking pork rather than over cooking it. I normally boil mine for 8 minutes. Usually when wontons overcook they start to break up and fall apart. One exception would be if you use shrimp inside, then it may overcook quicker. The best thing to do is check it after a few minutes and make sure that the inside is cooked through. If not, check again after another minute :)

  • whenever you use oil to fry stuff, do you keep to oil to use again later, reusing it several times, or would you discard it and use fresh oil every time?

  • Oh I definitely reuse oil whenever I can. I usually try to use it at least 3 times. Only if it's really dirty then I discard it :)

  • cool

thanks for your videos, they're wonderful!

you make everything look so easy and delicious

  • You really should be on Food Network. I'd watch your show.

  • I wish! Thank you :)

  • @debauchery73 Are you serious? She can cook and does seem knowledgeable BUT that voice is so fucking grating and annoying would not make for a good host!!!

  • I'm the WonTon Rapper

    and I'm here to say

    without shrimp in your dumpling

    It's not a nice day!

  • Now that's funny! You can put shrimp in there if u want :)

  • hi thanks for the recipe.but one thing how can i make the wraper .could you pls give me homemade wraper recipe . thanks again.

  • I usually use purchased wrappers, but to make them you can just use about 2 1/2 cups of flour to 1 cup of water. Then just knead the dough, divide it into about 40 peices and flatten them into discs. Then they can be filled :)

  • It would be awesome if you had a website with an option for printing out your recipes :)

  • I do - it's bellaonline (dot)com (slash) site (slash) chinesefood

  • nice nice!!! im so gonna make hundreds of these now :D ty for the instructions!!

  • is egg roll wrappers the same as wonton wrappers?

  • No, the main difference is that the egg roll wrappers are much larger than the wonton wrappers. As far as thickness, in the grocery stores they are usually the same - however wrappers do come in different thicknesses, especially if they are homemade :)

  • I'll have to try this one! I have tried another recepie which is good this one looks a little cheaper to make. Good idea doing the frying outside to keep the cooking oil smell and mess out of the house. Also the only problem with wontons they take forever to wrap LOL! Thanks for the video!

  • I have been looking for the dark brownish sauce that is served at buffets and when you order out with boiled pot stickers. Some times they have a little green onion floating in it. From all the cook books and other recipes I have seen the sauce is never discussed. I tried soy sauce, balsamic vinegar and some green onion but it just tasted awful, perhaps too much vinegar. Any suggestions? I guess each restaurant makes it different unless they buy the sauce premade, but so far all taste the same.

  • Also do you really need to use peanut oil or can vegetable oil do the trick just as well? A difference in taste or how it fries?

  • I usually just mix together a little dark soy, regular soy, and hot chili garlic sauce. I did find another recipe which may be more what your looking for. I'll send it to you through youtube mail :)

  • I think you are talking about hoisen sauce.

  • you're probably talking about hoisin sauce. Even if you're not, you should try in on pot stickers, it's tits

  • Another great installment!

I've only seen the boiled versions in "Wonton Soup". Are there other serving suggestions?

  • I actually love eating the boiled wontons in a bowl with just a little soy sauce and vinegar sprinkled on them. You can also serve them in a bowl with a soy ginger sauce on the side for dipping or topped with a bit of sriracha :)

  • Hi is it possible to prepare them ahead of time? say, do them at night and cook them the following day. Will I store them in the freezer or just in the chiller?

  • Yes you can make these ahead of time and freeze them. Just line a cookie sheet with wax paper. Then as you make them place them on the paper. Freeze them, and once they are frozen remove them from the paper, place them in a plastic bag, and return them to the freezer. This way they won't stick together. Then when you want to cook them you can take them directly from the freezer and add them to the boiling water :)

  • thanks for the respond>>

but i bought wonton yesterday and there was loose pork in the soup, but how? i think it has to be fried or something, right?

  • Did you buy the wonton soup from the store, or just the frozen wontons and then made your own soup? Sometimes wonton soup has little strips of roasted pork in it. But if it is the ground pork coming out of the wontons then they probably were not sealed properly.

  • very understandable :D

can you use a different type of onion?,,,,,

but the one the chinese sell, they keep in the water, and the water haves flavor, so the boil ones, you just eat them like that?
