Why can't there ever be a middle ground? Sometimes feminists can be a bit crazy, but most of them are not 'man-haters', they're just women who want equal rights. Phyllis cannot argue these points because she had a great education and a loving family, she doesn't know what it's like to have an abusive partner or limited access to an education.
@Peacima Phyllis Schlafly worked extremely hard for everything she has. She worked her way through college and graduated at the age of 19 with a Phi Beta Kappa key.
@vtoodler Yes and what is your point? She worked hard as we all have to do to succeed, but she had access to that education without having to deal with abusive family relationships or restraints based on her gender, race or religion.
@Peacima You do realize that Schlafly grew up in a poor family during the Great Depression? She graduated from Harvard in 1945--long before the advent of feminism.
My point is that we all have our problems (including me). However, dwelling on the negative doesn't get one anywhere. I think that Schlafly's philosophy is that women should stay upbeat and not dwell on the negatives. I highly recommend her book, "The Power of the Positive Woman." It's very inspirational. :)
YOU and I are living proof of the benefits. Ok, so I can't count on some man "taking care" of me and my kids. BIG DEAL! I can (as a consequence) run my own life! I will take it Phyllis and if you were not so old you would too!
Quote: "The American woman is the most fortunate creature to have ever lived on the face of the Earth; we can do whatever we want." You know why that is, bitch? Feminism.
Also, for anyone audacious enough to point it out, i'm completely aware of the irony of using the word 'bitch.'
Phyllis Schlafly herself benefts from feminism, so does the woman interviewing.
Neither of them have to stay at home and be housewives. They have both had careers, both have the vote and both have their own money. Feminism has allowed women to work in more fields, so why does she oppose it for other women, does she really hate them?
this woman is soo full of shit. as someone who calls herself a feminist, i can safely say that i have no problems with the "role of homemaker" but rather, i want both MEN AND WOMAN to take part in it!! i don't believe in the idea of "gender roles" or "masculine" or "femininity." I want EQUALITY. Is that so hard to understand?
"RESCUED" from the life of a working woman?! she is such a frickin' moron.
DING DONG THE BITCH IS DEAD! SING IT LOW, SING IT HIGH! DING DONG, THE HOMOPHOBIC BITCH IS DEAD! Bite the dust, Phyllis, BURN IN HELL! Im gonna PARTY CAUSE U CROAKED!
DING DONG, THE BITCH IS DEAD! SING IT HIGH, SING IT LOW, DING DONG THE HOMOPHOBIC BITCH IS DEAD! And the gates of HELL OPEN WIDE for the arrival of PHYLLIS! Hmmm, was it MURDER?? Or SUICIDE???? Inquiring minds really wanna know!
What a HYPOCRITE!! Mrs Schlafly wants all women to be a full time mothers and wives, yet she is a attorney, activist, and author of several books!! She most defiantly does not practice what she preaches!
In some cases women have been abused...perhaps Ms Schafly has never been beat but some women have been and a job was the only way out for them....I respect Ms Schafly and her opinion but many women do love their husbands , children and still work....the last time I looked the Bible has not changed & it does promote married women who work..Prince Charming lost his women because he did not value her & treated her less then God has created her to be treated..Prince was less then charming
I thought the whole concept for feminims, was to give choice, like men has had over centuries, choice to do what they want. If you want a family, fine, if you don't fine, up to you
I wonder what this hypocritical old bitch thinks about Sarah Palin as a V.P. (and possibly president?) Its the movie uh, uh, I can't remember, the uh, uh movie.
These anti-Schlafly comments here clearly show ignorance of Phyllis Schlafly and what she has said and written.

This old hag made a career out of telling women not to have a career.

Phyllis Schlafly is brilliant and clearly a very happy, contented woman.
By contrast feminists are all miserable, bitter, "oppressed victims" with a huge sense of entitlement.

@davegate2000
yeah, like you ever talked to feminists...
if schlafly is against women having careers, why does she have one?

Phyllis is an american legend. she's smart, well-spoken, ladylike, and she takes a stand for the family and she understands how politics should be.
cromptonator 3 years ago
She's not trying to empower women. She's just feigning sympathy to disguise her neoconservatism.

I treat those who want to be the same as men, just like I treat men.
