The US Marine Corps (hoorah) serve a purpose. That purpose is to keep American's and their way of life safe. It is when they are misused in "police actions" and war's based on bad intelligence that the serviceman's deed becomes tragically deformed. This is coming from a former US serviceman. Misuse of the military is, unfortunately (as in the Roman Empire) a favorite attribute of our form of government. This is coming from someone who joined 23 years ago. It's sad that we believe we must defend something that is actually a natural state. Ben Franklin, in February 1775, said this: "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."
