Sorry to ruin what you may think it is, but it really isn't. TICA has really been putting a stop to breeders that claim their cats are part bobcat, because it just doesn't happen. and breeders have made millions with this claim that they are. But dna tests have proved that none are If you would like more info, just message me. There is just too much to write here . He is a common domestic shorthair cat and nothing more. He is cute though
@egroegartfart Where you from ?? Lots of cats down here in Florida have Bobcat in them... True, he is just a house cat, but it is in his blood... He even has the dots on his tummy bobcats do... I seen too many of them... I know when a cat has bobcat in it's blood... Seen them here my whole life
@egroegartfart If you go have a DNA test on him and he has bobcat in him I will give you one million dollars. It cannot happen. The chromosomes are too different for a successful breeding to occur. I study wildcats. and have for 20 years. Breeders have tried for many years to breed the two together. It never works. and it doesn't happen. I'm not trying to be a smart ass, but people claim to have a bobcat domestic mix all the time. Lots of domestic breeds have spots on their belly.contin
@egroegartfart A lot of breeds have characteristics that are similar to bobcats. but there is no bobcat blood in them. The DNA test cost's about $50. go get it done, and I will send you the million. My word on it. I am sorry but I know the facts. I have the experience. I own a full blooded bobcat too. I am well versed in the breeding of cats, It's complicated to get into but to simplify it the chromosomes are too different making it impossible to happen. your cat is 100% domestic, cont.
@egroegartfart and the only way to prove it is to have the test done. It is painless and takes a couple seconds. There are facilities all over that can do the test. The only resemblence to any wildcat that yours has is a jungle cat. and there are a lot of those runining around in Florida. Jungle cats can and do breed with domestics all the time in the wild. You will see bobcats breeding with domestics too but there is never a litter born. or they are all still born not making it full term
The chromosomes between bobs and domestics are just too different for a successful breeding to occur. The only way to tell for sure is to have a simple painless dna test done that will show if there is any wild blood from a bobcat in it The test costs about $50. I would bet millions that it isn't. It has all the characteristics of a domestic cat. There are no visible characteristics of a bobcat in that cat. Even if it did have extra toes. That is a genetic defect and would not be from a bob
I don't mean to be rude So please don't take it that way, but I didn't see any extra claws. How many did it have on the paw? It looked like 5 which is normal. The next part is the downer. There is no way that the cat is a bobcat hybrid because it is virtually next to impossible to happen. I am a breeder and have studied wildcats for over 20 years now. There have only ever been two proven cases of bobcat hybrids. If this cat were a true bob/hybrid it would be worth probably $20,000. cont
