  • Please note that Walsh is making these comments while wearing a jumper that cost more than than an average weeks wage for a ground crew member. Be ashamed of yourself.

  • @MaximusMingus that is really mean of you, to divert the issue to his own personal items ..

  • Well done to BA for totally unbiased approval of comments. Not.

  • Thank you for your comments. There are four videos posted about the cabin crew strike and you will find that we've allowed all those comments that do not insult groups, organisations or individuals.

  • Where should i turn for reliable information about the state of British Airways? Well a video made by the CEO of BA on the BA youtube channel seems legit!

  • Lucky the media are beginning to see through the spin.........

  • The end result of this is simple to predict, BA are going to need to reduce overheads, which will be staff members, this will also affect Unite, because if BA reduce heads, these people will be Unite members. Unite will lose out by a reduction of members.

Willie Walsh, keep up the good work, when you have cleared the dead wood, you are off to a flying start!

  • In today's business climate, combined with BA's current trading difficulties, I would have thought that Unite might have displayed some common sense.

Do unions not understand yet, that no company will be held to ransom. Unite's members need to consider one vital aspect, trying to prevent BA from running to full capacity is only going to end in a downturn, which in effect leads to a fall in income and a loss of consumers purchasing their services.

    (Continued)

  • This will hurt the ones striking far more than it'll hurt the company.

  • All i can say is remember Sabena (Belgian National career) strike action sent them out of business.

  • We congratulate you for keeping the flights going, well done!

  • Its interesting to see that the BBC and Sky give different weight to this dispute. BBC appears to treat comments from both sides as dubious 'claims' that suggests that each are in some way to be distrusted. What they forget is the fact that British Airways are legally obliged as Corporate (FTSE quoted) Organisation - not to give false info to the Press. Whereas 'Unite' have no such obligation, on the contrary, they're history is so totally entrenched in 'propaganda' its second nature.

  • My SFO>LHW connection was cancelled without notification, extremely unprofessional. On sunday the BA hotline in the US featured a very friendly computer voice that announced: "You'll have to wait 87 minutes until your call is processed".

  • Weakkkk!!!

  • A very positive atmosphere eh? Why is it that both my flights and 40% of all others are cancelled? The power of the Unite to strike against a national carrier! Unbelievable! This is of the likes of the air traffic controller strike in the 80s. Do you know what Regan did? He fired all the people who did not come back to work. This is a privately owned firm but w/national interests at hand and the same method should be employed here! Grow up! This wouldn't fly in US.

  • It would set a dangerous precedent for the Government to step in, on what is essentially a democratic/commercial dispute...!

  • @ChristopherAdderley Granted it would, but then the notion of a "national carrier" and the "flag of the UK" should not be used to describe BA.

Above and beyond this point, with respect, Mr. Walsh should step up to the plate, and fire them. It is a private company, and he needs to toughen up. A successful, thriving, and efficient company can not be run in such a fashion where unions can inflict such damage to the firm. It is an embarrassment to the UK, and flagrantly disrespects its customers.

  • I have always had a great flight on BA, much better them certain other airlines. I understand people want to keep their jobs and stuff but if BA didnt reduce cost it could spiral out of control and everyone would be unemployed...no-one wants that. Its the unfortunate thing in business that sometimes you have to make changes and in this case the changes are so BA can continue to give us great services

  • To be fair to Unite.. the argument is not apparently as simple as that.. they argue that the service you speak about being "much better than certain other airlnes" Jeremy is in their mind down to the nature of their employment.. number of staff on a specific flight etc.. They are concerned about the change, not only as individuals facing pay freezes but are concerned that the nature of the cost-cutting could damage their ability to do their job effectively. The airline could risk losing its USP

  • Mister Willie Walsh is indeed a professional.

  • I will always fly with British Airways, actually, I have a flight from Atlanta to Athens GR via Heathrow next week!

  • it's a shame so many workers don't fight for their right.

  • BA all the way!

  • Brilliant!

  • I love these public announcements from Willie Walsh. He's a true professional and is very good at what he does.

He represents everything which makes BA the best airline in the world. Even during the strikes, I am proud to be a loyal BA customer.

  • I agree. True Professional.
