  • @Elukaszeko - you are very welcome!

  • Really good tutorial mate, but Im having some problems getting the bones to behave "normally". Whenever I try to rotate the arm or leg bones (I already have a child-parent system. The torso is the parent to the arms & legs), the bone scales itself up like crazy. It stretches to about 4 times its original size (so it basically ruins my rig).

I was just wondering if you could help me with this. I must have missed something somewhere...

  • @ncshuriken - Well, I don't really have a lot of time for troubleshooting right now - best I can recommend in a pinch is going through the tutorial very slowly step by step.

  • Thanks man. Yours is the easiest skinning video on youtube. It took me a while to find, so I'm a gonna vote it up

  • @HappyFhantum - yeah I know what you mean it takes forever to find the tutorial that we need, huh? Glad it helped.

  • can u plz rigg a dinosaur for me?

  • @MultiJacob123 - nope.

  • greatings, you helped me a lot

  • @dpressismyname - glad I could help.

  • You have no idea how much you have just helped me =D awesome tut dude.

  • nice tut! :D

im having a problem with my ik solvers they leave behind a blue line from where it was created, everytime i try to move it. is that a normal?

  • @redhors - I think that is just the IK being stretched - it does happen sometimes but if it is happening a lot, you may be doing something wrong. For example if I am doing a walk cycle and I make the character come up too high, yet the feet are stuck to the ground, I will get a blue line from the IK on the ground to the foot as it follows the body into the air. I am working on a bones demo that will hopefully demonstrate this issue.

  • really good video, I fell like I dont need to watch it again because you went over stuff and repeated too :D Also the fact that you seem to have a small screen helps for watching in youtube, makes everything clearer :)

  • great website

  • @goranification - Thanks for the complement and also thanks for all the nice comments below, also sorry I took so long to approve some of them it's been a busy term...

  • @3dcognition aaah, no problem :), I underestand.

  • Why would bones be better than just linking the objects together?

  • @hashbrown567 - sorry for the late reply - but try animating a character with just links. Your characters need a skeleton, just like real people do - links are not as flexible or controllable as bones...

  • Thanks for an excellent tutorial!

  • gud tutorial thanx

  • Many thankx

  • Does anybody know how you limit the rotation of joints so that they dont pivot the wrong way? (like bending the knee backwards)

  • great tutorial. thanks

  • great tutorial, I just have some problems with the HI Solver, I click on the bone on the top, do Animation-> IK Solvers-> HI Solver and the cursor does not chages if I move over the bone on the bottom. Do you have any idea why?

  • Because you need to make the parent>child relationship between those bone first

  • Nice =)

  • When i add a texture to a skin, when it is animated via bones, the texture doesn't move with it! The texture stays in the same place, can you help?

  • Great tutorial! Thanks! I learned a lot and you made it look easy!

  • Men Men Men Men Men ...

  • Or maybe you could just press the button with the mouse and tell the watchers that hotkey's can be used :)

Either ways are good, just kidding ;)

Again .. nice video, well done!

  • In fact .. I'm not sure you know so I felt for telling ya'll..

    I see you've done well in that video but hotkey's would speed up the process, here are some( Not sure bout the version differences :S );

Q - Change to the normal cursor

    W - Change to the "move-tool"

    E - Change to the "rotate-tool"

    R - Change to the "scale-tool"

Pressing down the middle-mouse-button - Moving the camera around

Alt + Pressing down the middle-mouse-button - Change the camera's Angel

    Hope these help =)
