  • A targeted tax break violates the principle of equal protection for all citizens. It protects one business from the tax code at the expense of all other tax-paying businesses. If a tax "incentive" is good for one business it should be good for everyone.

  • Government has no money. Government can only shift who has it. Therefore, when government gives ("incentives") to one group of people ("film industry"), government has to take ("tax") from other groups of people (other businesses, citizens). Thus, these incentive programs are unfair to everyone else.

Secondly, government is horrible at allocating resources to their best use. (See USSR, Cuba, Amtrak). That's why we let the people decide where to spend their money--not government.

  • She's just ridiculous! I guess it's hard for her to see the big picture when she's wearing her agenda blindfold.

  • Did Ms. Havens actually listen to what she said? She is opposed to lowering taxes in order for businesses to better thrive without the need for incentives/subsidies? Ms. Havens speaks of "some folks that play off of own agendas". That appears to be what Ms. Havens is doing; her words indicate that she wants to keep taxes high so that incentives/subsidies are necessary & therefore will flow to her organization. Unbelievable. We all need to stand-up for liberty & vote for people like Rep. Amash.

  • There is nothing radical about the free market economics and equal opportunity for all businesses and individuals. In fact quite the opposite. Favoring one industry over another is called Fascism or Corporatism and THAT is radical!

  • Yeah! You give such a good sales speech! And IDEALS is what we expect from those we send to represent us! Yay Justin Amash!
