to Ian1980Si: if you dont like it, you dont connect to it. simple as that, but to disrepsect and say its not remotly talented; you just sound like and ignorant, sad, fool. As far as being intellectual? who says their trying to be? they bring up different perspectives of how people live their lives.the flow and talent it takes to be big? you mean selling out? silly fuck
I can say with absolute certainty that Dessa is one of my favorite artists, and that feels good to be so sure about something... it only happens every once in a while.
@kamackmac Yes, quite true. I have noticed that when I listen to a song, it is often which ever version that I hear first that I find to be better.
I haven't really checked out this album yet, though. Is it entirely re-makes of her old songs, or just a mix of re-makes along with new material as well?
@jesserawls1991 I'm pretty sure the only new song is Beekeeper, and the rest are re-dos. I don't have my copy yet, but I listened to the previews on itunes and they're fantastic~
@hawk14209 Their music doesn't flow plain and simple it seems forced. My friend used to listen to POS and Cecil and all these guys and I really tried to get into it but it is was just too painful. It just isn't quality music. It is amateurish and appealing to kids from rural America. It also attempts to be intellectual which makes it even more ridiculous.

Dessa and all the doomtree "artist" are horrible. This song sucks. How do people listen to this? POS and Sims, Dessa and all these guys are so choppy and hard to listen to.
@jesserawls1991 It was on a friends facebook page. I have never heard anything from doomtree that even resembles quality. That is why doomtree is not a well known label. It is poorly produced and the rap sounds exactly like what it is, a bunch of white people and one black guy from Minnesota trying to be rappers. It's sad. That is why their fan base are mostly from the Midwest (they wouldn't know quality rap if it hit them in the face). The flow and talent it takes to be big just isn't there.
@Ian1980Si Ah, I see. I don't think it's about quality or being big with them though, I think it's just about making music for the fans that they do have and also about loving what they do. Also, there are some good emcees from the midwest, I find that east and west coast rappers get too repetitive, especially southern rappers. I guess it just depends on where you're from though.
Love this real music!

@Ian1980Si As POS said, "We make our own, and if they don't feel it, then we are not for them. And that's cool."
No need to make the jump from "I don't like this" to "people who like this are inferior".
Out of curiosity, what would be an example of some "quality" rap from one of these coasts you're such a fan of?

Why did they change the beat to this? The original had a better instrumental behind it.
jesserawls1991 4 months ago
@jesserawls1991 I disagree-- I heard this version first and I find it much more pleasing than the original. Its got a more raw, bouncy beat to it.
To each his own of course. Maybe it really depends on which one you hear first.
Also, the point of Castor, The Twin was to take some of the hits and change the instrumentals to be this way.

@Ian1980Si I totally understand not liking Doomtree, even though I don't agree. But not liking the entire Midwest? One Be Lo? Common? Kanye?
