So happy Cuba managed to become a socialist country and standing against the shitty USA. Americans are now butthurt from this!Ok , there is some unemployement in Cuba but things are nowhere near as good as in Greece,where I live with 100% capitalism.Solidarity to all Cuban comrades! :)

@jlalewicz Make sure you get the documentary DVD by the same name, "Buena Vista Social Club." It's on sale at Amazon.com and it's simply AMAZING! I was part of their world once upon a time. I grew up in Havana before immigrating to the U.S.A. This is the music of my parents and grandparents generation. There is nothing like this anymore... :(

You might want to look up the individual artists too: Ibrahim Ferrer, Omara Portuondo, Rubén González, Compay Segundo, Barbarito Torres, and Eliades Ochoa. Enjoy! :)

Nothing like this stuff anymore. The rythm is complex yet pleasant. The harmony wonderfully unique. The lyrics are basically about women, travelling, life and work in a much more simpler time and place. It brings a country I never knew, alive again. I can barely tolerate the new stuff I hear nowadays.

I thank Rye Cooder for rescuing and rejuvinating this music which quite possibly may have been lost to the ages.
