@halkaa1 I have. It's arcade as hell-the cars have WAY too much grip to be even close to realistic. I mean, that uphill, windy curve at Spa at 140mph? No way. But, in the same way GT is fun because of its simulation of real car physics, GRID is fun because it's arcadey. Still, I think GT is better by miles, not only because of the races (which are, to me, a blast), but for two other reasons. First, Polyphony is always so exacting and precise, and therefore, no detail goes unnoticed in GT.
CLOWN, i own EVERY sim, except anything that only runs on x box and anything that you have 2 pay a annual fee, also, i can handle ALL of them, but the graphics on MY 1080p plasma racing GT5 has a lot of jaggies, same with GRiD, but on my pc, using a old gtx 260, it is CLEARLY better, half of you are mad because you cannot afford to spend like a grand to BUY a gaming pc, that is why you buy a console, by the way, i use my ps3 2 stream netflix and to watch blu-ray, that is it, PEACE OUT!

Their 3D options are highly limited whereas PC's offerings are very good. @mlgprotipsy I do play real games (metro 2033, BC2 and BC2:V in 3d vision discover, just cause 2 and bioshock in 3d vision discover), I just don't play them on outdated PC hardware (7800gtx aka RSX) and being upscaled

@mlgprotipsy All super computers use Nvidia or AMD GPU's and these have the same design as those used for gaming but with more features enabled, how does the ps3 have the architecture of a supercomputer?. The cell processor can get up 75GFLOP running double precision, an i7-920 can do 70GFLOP + the 2.6TFLOP single precision for the gtx480 in SLI. The pc will easily win in calculations per second alone. You are also forgetting the fact the the gtx480's are DX11 enabled and.....

So, yes the pc would run uncharted 2 and it would be able to do at 1080p (unlike the ps3) or above and over several screens. The RSX is a 7800gtx as this was the reference design for it, pretty much the same spec. If the cell is as powerful as you claim it, why is it not in ever laptop, desktop and workstation and most supercomputers. simple answer....
@mlgprotipsy its not as fast as the intel or amd offerings. The ps3 3d is not as good as the pc's as this has no viewing angle limitation. The ps3 is highly limited by the lack of memory, on 512MB, my phone has half that. A pc with 8GB could load the majority of the game into the high speed RAM and not need to use the HDD or optical drive like consoles do. The ps3 shares no components from the HPC world because the cell is designed for media, 3d modeling and tv's. .....

@mlgprotipsy Only 6 are used for games and they are clocked at 3.2GHz. RAM is needed and a lot of it to store textures, models, animations, sound etc. If the processor is so good why is just in the ps3? Intel and AMD makes better CPU's.

@mlgprotipsy That's the thing, PC gaming is fantastic if you have the wallet to back it up with, some don't but some do and choose not to and some still do. Console gaming is far cheaper for the hardware but it suffers 6 years down the product life. I like the ps3, its more social with split screen its just most of the time am on my own so a pc seems the better option and im willing to spend more for visuals and sound.

@mlgprotipsy What do you mean catching up? It's way ahead, I mean the xbox is stuck in DX9 and the ps3 cant do DX11. 3D was available on pc years before console. Innovation is made first in pc's because there the competition is far stronger between Nvidia AMD and Intel AMD compared with Sony Microsoft.

@altonator91 Agreed except for you implying PC gaming is expensive. It doesn't have to be if you know your hardware and can find a bargain. I put together my comp for about $500 or $600. (more than a console, but not the 1-2 grand ppl seem to think of.) Its specs are CPU - Phenom II x4 @ 3.2 Ghz RAM - 3GB. GPU - Nvidea GTX 460 1GB . So far I havnt found a game it cant play decently at high settings. (even GTA4, the biggest resource hog of them all, plays at ~30 FPS)
@11matt555 PC's can be even cheaper if you build them yourself. Or you could buy GPU's from the last generation to save money. With a bit of knowledge it wouldn't be difficult to build a gaming pc quite cheap.
@altonator91 party build it myself. I bought a cheap $300 comp with a mobo that could sustain many upgrades, so I did upgrade it. Replaced the CPU and GPU and the total amount spent was around $500-600

I've got Grid and it feels kinda arcadey, like a near perfect mix of arcade and sim. It's a great game, but not a simulator. However, GT5 is being built to be a simulator and there WILL be damage affecting driving.
Grid is an arcade racing game. Gt5 is a simulator game. I prefer gt5, it has way more cars,tracks and events of all kinds. It's the ultimate racing game. Also, the graphics are way better, not to mention that gt5 runs at 60 fps at 1080p(1440x1080).
I find rfactor to have a larger varitey of cars then both games. Need for speed shift is alot like grid just not the agrisve A.I and insane crashes. Gt5 will probley be one of the many games that make the ps3 stand out (that ps3 coment is coming from a xbox gamer) Over all GRID fun action packed racing.

If you're into Sim racing, GT5/Forza3 is the way to go. If you're into Knock down balls out exciting racing with insane crash footage and sick replays, GRID is the game to own. Personally, I get bored at times with Forza/GT, but you can't get bored of games like Dirt2 and GRID. GRID takes it in my book.
If microsoft want to lease or even be a good sport and release the patents they hold then we'd get a port of these games, but since that wont happen then who cares! fuck microshaft!

In GT5 the gameplay is exactly the same as the trailer graphic grid on the other hand has and excellent damage system the problem i have with grid is the dark filters the game filter is just too dark and city-central kind of racing dont appeal much to me....i prefer the race in a racing circuit or in a more country side enviroment .....so i will go for g5

i think both are awesome, because grid is really strong at the crashes, like the crashes are perfect, no comparison, best crashes ever, but the gt5 has much more graphics, in the cars and in the racing tracks, also gt5 has bigger track, like u can finish a race without hitting anyone, and in the grid thats impossible... but both games are awesome
The only reason why GT5 is not great to what your calling a "true gaming enthusiast" is be cause you can't mod the game blah blah blah. I have a computer that is £500.00 and it runs all racing games fine. And racing games aren't all to do with how it looks. It's also to do with how the cars handle, especially with simulators. the damage in grid is a lot better than the damage preview in GT5. The damage preview in GT5 is shit. If you really want a realistic game then get GTR Evo for the PC or LFS or if you are loaded then get iRacing. so what if it's 1000+ cars in GT5? Forza has like 800+ cars and everyone goes on about how those 200 less cars means that Forza will suck. GT5 isn't even that much of a simulator. Even though GIRD has less cars, the damge makes up for it like hell.

Grid is an Arcade Style game with tone of Action and Rage feeling.
GT5 is more of an Simulator with peacefull racing with 1032 Cars and 200 Premium in them. So it depend of view point. But I would prefer FORZA 4.

@mlgprotipsy Only 6 are used for games and they are clocked at 3.2GHz. RAM is needed and a lot of it to store textures, models, animations, sound etc. If the processor is so good why is just in the ps3? Intel and AMD makes better CPU's.

@mlgprotipsy That's the thing, PC gaming is fantastic if you have the wallet to back it up with, some don't but some do and choose not to and some still do. Console gaming is far cheaper for the hardware but it suffers 6 years down the product life. I like the ps3, its more social with split screen its just most of the time am on my own so a pc seems the better option and im willing to spend more for visuals and sound.

@altonator91 thats the thing though.....pc gaming is JUST catching up with consoles and a new wave of consoles is coming out soon......i have the money to spend but i would rather spend it on other things......also....one could go out and spend a grand on a pc and it will be a fantastic pc...........but it will not have any games..........ore one could go out and spend 300 bucks on a console...........and then the rest on games........i guess it is personal preference

@mlgprotipsy What do you mean catching up? It's way ahead, I mean the xbox is stuck in DX9 and the ps3 cant do DX11. 3D was available on pc years before console. Innovation is made first in pc's because there the competition is far stronger between Nvidia AMD and Intel AMD compared with Sony Microsoft.

Remember that Nvidia and AMD have partners like Asus, Msi, XFX that the other companies wouldn't. 3D isn't a gimmick, If you've played a game that has been developed for 3D like BC2 or metro 2033 then you would see how good 3D is. The ps3 doesn't use DirectX so it can't have a patch, RSX is DX9

@altonator91 Agreed except for you implying PC gaming is expensive. It doesn't have to be if you know your hardware and can find a bargain. I put together my comp for about $500 or $600. (more than a console, but not the 1-2 grand ppl seem to think of.) Its specs are CPU - Phenom II x4 @ 3.2 Ghz RAM - 3GB. GPU - Nvidea GTX 460 1GB . So far I havnt found a game it cant play decently at high settings. (even GTA4, the biggest resource hog of them all, plays at ~30 FPS)

the majority of people here screaming "sim" are console simmers, whom has never played gtr, gtr2, rfactor, lfs, etc. i have them all and i have a ps3, by far the best is to have a pc with a nice card, hell, even gt5 on a ps3 is whack, by the way, grid on pc is 3 times better than on console, peace!

Bah. Elitist PS3 and Xbox 360 bastards. Sure, Gran Turismo may be the driving simulator and Forza the racing simulator. But GRID is still the fun driving game that's immersive in the way it plays.
It's like saying a tagliatelle puttanesca and beef bourguinon are better than cheeseburger and fries. Sure, the former are technically 'better'. But we know it, and you do too, cheeseburger and fries will be your pick. It's not as fancy, but fuck yes it's good.

I prefer GRID thousand times. Even if I love simulators GRID is the perfect mix between sim and arcade. Awesome graphics and physics. But I think Codemasters will do an excellent job with F1 2010.
This is the one we would compare with a Gran Turismo.

@theking8701 Arcade= PGR, Blur, Ridge Racer Sim= Gran Turismo, Forza (for consoles)
In an arcade game you can go through every turn even without braking or slowing down. Slide and take the turn without loosing any traction or speed.
In an arcade you have to carefully brake and accelerate because if not you loose a lot of time when you get off the track or you can collide and get damages that slow you down to the goal.
GRID is a mix between these racing games philosophy.

In the pre Grid TOCA could play arcade is undamaged and too many driver aids. my opinion is a fan of racing games since the atari 800xl. Perhaps the GT5 is almost a simulator, having no car damage affecting driving.

Grid is an arcade racing game. Gt5 is a simulator game. I prefer gt5, it has way more cars,tracks and events of all kinds. It's the ultimate racing game. Also, the graphics are way better, not to mention that gt5 runs at 60 fps at 1080p(1440x1080).

I find rfactor to have a larger varitey of cars then both games. Need for speed shift is alot like grid just not the agrisve A.I and insane crashes. Gt5 will probley be one of the many games that make the ps3 stand out (that ps3 coment is coming from a xbox gamer) Over all GRID fun action packed racing.

If you're into Sim racing, GT5/Forza3 is the way to go. If you're into Knock down balls out exciting racing with insane crash footage and sick replays, GRID is the game to own. Personally, I get bored at times with Forza/GT, but you can't get bored of games like Dirt2 and GRID. GRID takes it in my book.

the owner of this video is actually comparing the game trailers not actual gameplay thats the problem..
In GT5 the gameplay is exactly the same as the trailer graphic grid on the other hand has and excellent damage system the problem i have with grid is the dark filters the game filter is just too dark and city-central kind of racing dont appeal much to me....i prefer the race in a racing circuit or in a more country side enviroment .....so i will go for g5

well i dont like both games very much:
GRID (xbox 360) was awesome when i bought it but after2 weeks it became boring.
Gran Turismo (PS3) is fucking gay, the controller of the ps3 sucks very hard for racing games you should need a logitech g25 but thats around 300 bucks and it isnt worth it.
the game you should buy is:
Forza 2 or forza 3
i never played forza 3 but it's better then forza 2 some say and forza 2 is one of the best racing games ever made :)
BUY A XBOX 360 NOT A PS3 IT SUCKS

i think both are awesome, because grid is really strong at the crashes, like the crashes are perfect, no comparison, best crashes ever, but the gt5 has much more graphics, in the cars and in the racing tracks, also gt5 has bigger track, like u can finish a race without hitting anyone, and in the grid thats impossible... but both games are awesome

I have a computer that is £500.00 and it runs all racing games fine. And racing games aren't all to do with how it looks. It's also to do with how the cars handle, especially with simulators. And BTW it's 'your two cents' not 'your two sense'. And obviously if you don't look at racing games on PC, you're not going to notice that they are better than those on PS3.
The reason why GTR Evo ect. are TRUE RACING SIMULATORS are because they are realistic. It has nothing to do with mods.

the damage in grid is a lot better than the damage preview in GT5. The damage preview in GT5 is shit. If you really want a realistic game then get GTR Evo for the PC or LFS or if you are loaded then get iRacing. so what if it's 1000+ cars in GT5? Forza has like 800+ cars and everyone goes on about how those 200 less cars means that Forza will suck. GT5 isn't even that much of a simulator. Even though GIRD has less cars, the damge makes up for it like hell.
