This is the new Legacy 4 door for 2010 and 2011 in wagon trim. Frontal and side impacts would be the same. Interior trim level is irrelevant. Subaru's are economical, safe and have all wheel drive. Toyota, Honda and Nissan can't compete with Subaru.

It really sucks we didn't get the Legacy wagon in the states. This bodystyle Legacy is the perfect station wagon. It's so roomy!!!

The NCAP has much higher standards than the NHTSA so I think it would safe to assume that this car gets a an A plus.

Notice, thats a station wagon they tested. That car is about 200lbs heavier than a sedan, or roughly around 3500b vehicle. Outback is even heavier than legacy wagon, and passed with flying colors.
