Geez, why are so many people hating on this? I feel like these days there is wayy too much emphasis put on the vocals. Did you rude commenters listen to what they were saying at all? This was an experimental take on one of his songs, it's not meant to sound polished. I think it was a success. He should incorporate strings more often.

If it's not put through Pro Tools, Auto-Tuned and over-produced into something that's completely different than what went into the microphone, people have a problem with it.

I think John Vanderslice has a beautiful voice. I don't see anything wrong with it. I think his vocal melodies are nicely done as well. He has a mellow, smokey voice and I can't get enough of it.
