  • I'm curious, I wat both you, Jo Nakashima, Jeremy Shafer, and also Tadashi Mori(Not as much), they all have created their own models. I was wondering if you even created an origami model before? And if you have, would you teach it to us? Or do you ever think about publishing a book on it?

  • @Origamisarah I haven't really designed. On happyfolding(dot)com there's diagrams for an eagle I designed, but other than that I've mostly been teaching.

  • CAN I GIVE UP?

  • Now HOW does your apple look so ROUND?!? Mine is so square-ish D:

  • omg ...i made it but it looks so ugly. loool

  • @igogoify well, first step is to just get it right! Now you just have to practice folding it.

  • where do you get the duo colored origami paper with red and green

    please respond

  • @ShadowSpiritSean I got it at a convention. However, the combination red/green isn't too uncommon, so I think you can also find it online.

  • just get an apple and wrap it in paper ><

  • i kinda lost you at the word crease..........

  • yeah this is the second tut im downloading now . .cube ring box were awesome to make. really thanx for give us ur time in making these tutorials.

  • geez this takes ages to make D:<

  • @starwarsharrypotter1 That is why origami builts patience as well as creativity!

  • now im hungry

  • wow that is wayyyyyyyyyy hard

  • I made it !!

    Sweet

  • i have this in on eof my origami books i bought and i dont get it in the book

  • you should make easier one right?

  • you talk too much at the beginning :(

  • Thank you! Very easy and beautiful!

  • This is so fun to collapse ^^

  • not origami if here is cutting gluing or cutting

  • i did this a year ago. it is so easy, i used printer paper and it look amazing.

  • is it easy.

  • does printer paper works too?

  • @newone1919 yes

  • Definitely do NOT do this with heavier paper... There are too many tiny folds to get proper creases out of the heavy paper. I ended up with crinkles. :/ I couldn't find my lighter paper to try this out. D;

  • Just made a little yellow apple. Pretty diffecult, but you explaned very clear. ThanX!

  • i cant do this im lost at idk something

  • @adamssara

Thanks I looked at the video again and

I skipped a step on the precreasing :)

  • i lost you at 19:50 please send message

  • @Theonlyuj I show that one step three times, and then it's repeated a couple of times. I really don't know how I could give extra details about it. :(

  • cool

  • i also made one with 5.5 cm crane paper XD it came out sooooo tiny XD

  • ijust finished oneof these :D with 45 x 45 sheet of sketch paper XD thanks for the wonderful instructions :D

  • @AdamsSara

    But it works..

    :]

  • An easier way to do this is to make a origami water bomb

and then glue i piece of paper on the top

    DUHH :L

  • @PowerTowerE Aw, that's cheating. ;)

  • @PowerTowerE So put the pice of peper without glue!

  • @MrSTLucho Okay :p

  • of THE LEAF xD

  • I just finished making an apple, thank you so much! I kind of wish I knew how to make these when I was a child, they would have made nice gifts for teachers.

  • OMG I'M IN TEARS. you do well but i just can't freaking do it. :(

  • Wow. I made this, but it is definitely one of the hardest models ever-up there with the Maui rose. Collapsing the top into a realistic-iooking apple was diffiucult and it tore the paper. The bottom took time but I eventually got it. I think this would look great using a life-size sheet of paper- at least 12x12. I need some practice with the top. Thanks for taking the time to produce this.

  • your an amazing instructer. What is the size of the "granny smith" piece of paper you used?

  • @cuitepie863 I'm not sure, but probably it was around 24cm (9.5 in).

  • :Q a bone folder! ive been wanting one of those!

  • SARAAAAAA!

I cant understand the last part, the bottom of the apple

help me... atleast a better view will work :l

  • @ChristopazZX nvm i got it but the top part of the apple is bumped up so yeah... i didnt get that part

anyway thx for the vid :D

  • @ChristopazZX Please add a time reference to your queries. It makes it much easier for me to try and help out. Thanks!

  • i tried to glue two sheets together, but at 15:56 all that was left was a huge blob of different creases mixed together. (and the creases i made didn't get so big either '--' )

  • I made it to 23 minutes and then my head exploded.

Sara you are an amazing instructor.

  • @RaceToMediocrity Although your head exploded? :)

  • @AdamsSara I know :-) I got so close, I did all the folds and then I just could not make my fingers behave when it came time to put it all together. I was so frustrated with myself, but in hindsight I should not have been. The fact that I was able to do as much as I did is credit to your instructional video, and calm narration. I will not give up, so I will return and try again and let you know when I have finally succeeded!

  • this is funny his name has fuji in it it get it fuji apple

  • Hey apple!

  • Very good explanation, very clear video, I shall be trying this soon!

  • mine did not turn out right when i started collapsing it turned into a pentagon not a hexagon for some reason but it seemed to turn out ok

  • @darthsion71 Well, two sides of the hexagon will overlap in the final model, thus making it a pentagon. :)

  • @AdamsSara ALL THIS!!! for a dang apple u cant even eat....

  • @richard2mitchell lol that was funny(:

  • OMG its soooooo long! i started getting bored around 10:00 and gave up WATCHING the vid at 18:00. cool apple though.

  • What type of paper did you use in this video?

  • @MeLover99 I prefer using slightly heavier kami for this model. In the video I used plain kami (normal weight).

  • to me it looks like a tomato? but anyway how do u get perfect creases?? i tried to crease so they match up but it doesn't work!!! grr oh well i guess i'll just try again. i like your video

  • @af4lazn Before creasing, always check that the references are correct. If you fold two layers at once, ensure that the second layer does not drift (hold both layers together tightly, before creasing push them against each other again), or crease one layer after the other. With practice working precisely will get easier, too.

  • Nice

  • it looks like peppers

  • Nagyon köszönöm!!!!Szuper jók a videóid!!!!

  • Good Lord, you have an unbelievable amount of patience. At 23:52 I can see myself going crazy. Great how-to video!

  • this is so gay

  • @knalert Gay as in happy? Definitely! ;)

  • @AdamsSara no just gay as a sexuality. Although your fish looks pretty cool.

  • after 3 minutes i almost fell asleep

  • now I got a creased.. kind of.. apple?

Don't really see a apple in it actually xD

  • 26 min of my life waste........

  • 1 you sould like a pedo.

2 your right wrist is broken (looking like)

  • @tooni700 1 you think you are so smart by accusing others to be like you.

2 you go jump off a cliff because people like you waste place on our planet.

  • i'm not patient enough to work on this, lol. too much work!

  • my apple looks great but the bottom didn't...^^'

=D your explanation is indeed great!

  • apple iphone XD

  • really this shit is not easy men!

  • 26:35 mins for a torturial for a paper apple o.o

  • WHAT THE FU*** 26:35 MINS CRAZY!!!! and the max is 10 min ( nice h4cks

  • this would take me hours

  • cute

  • nice! ö

  • that's one tasty apple !

  • tessellation? does it support dx11? xD

  • Now I have a crease in my brain ... do you need more creases?

I tried it. But there is no apple ... the paper just gave up ... what paper do you use? Is ist special Paper?

  • @gruenerKoenig The model doesn't require any special paper, printing paper should work fine. In this video, I used kami (origami paper). I prefer using slightly heavier paper for the model though, the one in the video has 65gsm. Printing paper usually has 80gsm, which is more suitable. However, printing paper usually has the same color on both sides. You can color the paper, if you like, of course.

  • wow, very well explained and displayed. Wonderfully done! *thumbs up*

  • I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS LITTLE APPLES ♥

Tutorials in Szene... • Also ich hab jetzt ein schön gefaltetes Papier. Ab minute 15 bin ich spätestens nicht mehr mitgekommen xD

  • Echt super Video ,Respekt! Aber ungefähr bei Minute 13 sah ich keine Diamanten mehr hab´s zerknüllt, weggeworfen und einfach nur noch bewundert wie man sowas verstehen kann xD. Naja egal ich brauch´s nicht unbedingt ;).

  • Why are you able to upload a video with more than 10 minutes?

  • @Lawlno1 YouTube partners can upload longer videos.

  • ...beautiful but useless can u eat the apple??how does it tastes??:D

  • @TheFailor I'm sure it wouldn't kill you, but it might not keep the doctor away. ;)

  • OMG FUCK U AND URE VOICE!!!!!!

  • why u make apple´s out of paper?? go out to a tree and fatch an apple .. lmao

  • Ohhh you forgot the most important thing: This apple is round. Theres no missing part like in the original apple.

  • can you eat it now?

  • 26min ftw only for an apple ...

  • Imagine the effort of mother nature. So many folds for one apple ;)

Don't even think about the tree :p

Just kiddin. It's amazing how much work is needed to create such a small thing.

  • habt ihr kein leben ja sucht euch mal hobbyss

  • LOL

Respekt, du musst gut im Papierknüllen sein;) hahaha ich lach mich schlapp

    Ich finde es gut =D

  • super pfff

  • creative

  • 26 min video=

  • keine andern hobbies xD ?

  • wow thats lol^^w will do an apple too!!! wow!!!! great!

  • Very good lecture! Thanks a lot.

Just one remark: I think that the 6 folds from 17:40 to 18:55 are not necessary for the final closing of the bottom... Don't you think so? I don't know what are they for. All the best!

  • @antimilitaristas I think you are right. :) These are creases that are only necessary if you fold a version that is closed all around (similar to the top). My bad...

  • lol, i just love ur voice, its all weird and funky xD and loud...

  • i mean no offense but is english your second language for you? (NO OFFENSE)

  • @themusicalfan ...of course it is.

  • @AdamsSara

If i am correct, German was your first language. :) (guessed)

  • cool

  • Holy Damn this is hard!!

  • those are cute

  • Very good model I like it! :D What is the next origami model? :)

  • @Andza195 "Hatching Chick" by Peter Engel, especially nice for Easter (I hope). Check happyfolding(dot)com for a picture of one of my folds.

  • @AdamsSara I can't wait! I would love to fold that model!

  • i love you so much im a fan of origami hey i make some of my own if a make a vid will you make a how to make vid ii make original =] plz respond this is not a quick thing i just got my cam so im gonno be a while but my stuff is cool=]

  • by that i mean i make a novice vid then you make a master vid

  • @izope90 I'm a bit picky with which models I demonstrate. So I'd first have to have a look at the folding sequence and the final result, and then decide whether I make a video on it. Sounds reasonable?

  • really awesome

  • sara you r simply the best thank you for a next awesome video.the model is so cool.thanks again

  • where do u buy ur paper?

  • @102gab I have this "bad" habit of at least quickly checking what paper stores have in stock whenever I pass one. Other than that, I've bought paper at origami conventions and at origami-shop(dot)com

  • Great.A new video.I am always happy when i see uploaded videos from my oriheroes.any ways.i'll try it later maybewhen i havce some time on my hands.Until then

I wish you a happy folding

i wish you a happy folding

i wish you a happy folding

and models as acurate as you can

    lol

  • thats so cool!!!

  • genius as always SAra! What a fabulous design.. I will post what I made on my new origami webblog and link to your video :)

  • @doctorbeans I love your golden apple! Superbly folded by the way.

  • aww you really know how to make my day :) Glad you liked it ^_^ The only reason I made it gold was because I ran out of red paper and I didn't wanna make a granny smith one.

and Yes, I have you and Eric Gjerde to thank for getting the skills we acquire from doing many tessellations :)
