  • ok ok ike was big we get it my famly got hit by both of thow storms

  • Before IKE including after Katrina the worst hurricane to hit the united states WITH recorded water heights was the 1938 hurricane.... report salt-water damage to buildings more than 25-feet above sea level, and yet Katrina caused 40 but yet the UNITED STATES failed to recognize that, your a lier and an idiot, Katrina did not cause 40 feet and lucky if it caused 15 feet, IT was reported THAT what HAD caused the MOST damage OF all was the levy breaking SO BLAH BLAH put that in Ur pipe.......

  • Don't compare New Orleans to Mississippi! Everyone knows Mississippi did not get any attention because everyone was looking at New Orleans. I agree that the only thing that happened to New Orleans was the levey break. So what does that have to do with Us? I was telling you about the surge in Bay St Louise MISSISSIPPI! The Right Quardrant of the hurricane, Where the surge is always the highest!!! Get your geography right!

  • You are retarded to go on a rant about a totally different place than I was talking about! Te entire town of Bay St. Louise was under water! All the way to I-10!

  • and the only reason my family's house in baton rouge got flooded was because the levy that held the water back broke, the one that they were working so hard to make shire didn't brake during Gustav, YES if a fucking levy that held back what 15 feet of water broke i think major flooding would accure do you agree ? Katrina didn't bring no 40 FOOT surge that's Ridicules the Great 1900 flood in Galveston didn't even cause no 40 FOOT surge neither did Katrina

  • lmfao, you do realize that if katrina had brought 40 FOOT surge waves that shit would have came to Port Bolivar no questions asked, Please explane why Mississippi had got a 30FOOT wave caused from IKE, my Family in Lu GOT flooded by IKE, however Port Bolivar had a 22 FOOT surge for over 24 hours how do i know I HAD FAMILY THAT STAYED THERE just 1 person, but still the facts are if the house was not atleast 20 feet above the ground it got flood, and you can not classify ike as a katrina, word...

  • wow IKE another KATRINA, ughm IKE was like 5 times bigger brought about 12 feet higher storm surge ???? yeah thought so IKE MAY have had wind storms of a 2/3, but it's high tide was like a 5 ???? have you seen Port Bolivar peninsula yeah j.s I'm tired of people calling IKE ANOTHER Katrina HOW ABOUT WE TRY REFERRING TO IKE AS ANOTHER 1900s storm or even 1915 storm but NOT a Katrina, gRrrr OK, IKE 0wNeD Katrina,bTw Katrina was not shit compared to IKE Seriously,bTw Ike brought 22feet of high tide

  • LOL, you are soo mistaken! How could you think a 22 ft surge is higher than a 30 foot surge with 10 foot waves on top like Katrina had? There were places in Bay St. louis Mississippi where the water line in the trees(the highest the water touched) from the surge was 40 feet above sea level. Let me repeat... 40 feet above sea level!!! That is almost double to your 22 feet!!! TOP THAT!!! and yes I have seen pics of the Port Boliva Peninsula. Yes it was horrible, but no Katrina!

  • I can destroy these monsters...

and want to make my discovering in practice...

  • it makes no difference if it's tx,la,ms,fl,al if you lost your property.i went through hell after katrina i was insured both homeowners and flood.i live in the suburbs of new orleans not in the "bowl".some people wasn't as lucky as me they couldn't afford insurance.some people could not get flood insurance because they weren't in the flood zones.all you "bertha better than yous".must not have too much damage or you wouldn't be running your mouths.walk a mile in someone else's shoe than you talk.

  • You are right about Hurricanes being tough for everyone, but you are wrong about not being able to get Flood Insurance unless your in a flood zone. Anyone can buy Flood Insurance, no matter where you live, and it's real cheap too.

  • tell it to all the people in la who owned their homes outright b4 katrina and were told they could not get flood insurance unless they were in the 100 year flood zone. since katrina the rules have probably changed.i have a mortgage on my home, the mortgage companies require it.

  • You are wrong!I have been a mortgage broker for 15 years, and I have Never heard of an insurance company telling anyone they could not buy any kind of property insurance on their home, whether owned or financed! If someone lived in the desert and wanted to buy flood insurance, they would get it! It would be easy money for them.If people have told you they were not allowed to get flood insurance, they LIED!If I am wrong, then your friends would be rich, they would win their case without going to court!

  • I agree Texas does not put up with raping or looting and we do not look for a hand out either New Orleans really made the south look bad but thats ok I hope texas is under the microscope we will show them how the south really is

  • alessia8299 , I really feel for you. It was 2 1/2 weeks that I went through that after Katrina. It was during that time that I wrote the Katrina Song. I remember one time I heard that a gas station was getting a delivery at 9 am the next day, so I got up at 3:30 am and went there early to make sure I could get some gas. When I got there, around 4am, there were already 20 cars in line. It will get better. Remember to be very careful what you put in your mouth. It sucks to get sick!

  • Ike hit Galveston like Katrina hit New Orleans... but Houston took a huge hit too. I still don't have power and no water. The media hasn't seem to have been able to get into the neighborhoods that were hit really hard. All of the neighbors have come together and rationed out food because we're all running low - none of the grocery stores have opened and there's no gas to drive to get groceries.

  • Ike is twice as worse as Katrina. At least us Texans can act in a calm manner and not go looting like New Orleans African Americans.

  • I wish all of you the best. I think that being without electricity was the hardest part of recovering after Katrina for us. One thing I would like to point out is that the power will always be on sooner than they say it will be. They tend to give a worse case time line. I guess you have power though, so good for you. Otherwise, how did you send this comment.

  • I hope you and many others are safe.

  • Great tune!!!

  • Thank You! I wrote that a week after Kartrina hit us. We didn't have any electricity so we had to fill the time doing something. Thanks again.

  • >.> actually, the Look and Leave was canceled due to looters....and not all looters are one race, how would you possibly know what race every person who is stealing is?

I'm staying in Austin, TX now because Galveston is "unlivable". I went down yesterday to check on my house and friends' homes. I wish we could go home and start to rebuild...$2000 fines for being home aren't worth it though I guess.

  • Kieth, I respectfully disagree. Katrina destroyed over 70k homes in Mississippi. It took jobs, lives, and many commercial buildings as well. 3 years later we still havn't replaced everything. The storm surge took away much of our industry and all the bridges connecting our coastal cities together. Kieth, Gustav did make a mess in Baton Rouge, I have many friends there, but you will recover in much less time than we could every dream of. I wish you well, and hope you have a quick recovery!

  • Interesting video...really didnt get hit that bad this year hear in lafayette...now we just have to watch where Ikes going...

  • It didn't hit here bad either. Your right about Ike. If it hits. I will have some great video. I will be all right up in it. I never evacuate!

  • Katrina left us without power for a long time. Those first few nights left us with little to do for fun so a friend and I would just break out the instruments and play. One night that friend, who lost everything, just leaned back and looked to the sky and said, "The Hurricane 'ill take it away". and I wrote a song. The Katrina Song was sung written and played by me.The song is a way to express sorrow with a positive spin. Thanks again for the comment.

  • I never heard that song before. It's funny but sad at the same time.

  • Around here Hurricanes are a part of our lives. Gustav was no Katrina. Everything Today is back to normal and it has only been a few days. Every Casino is back open already. Katrina was a different animal. We have just gotten back to normal from that one.

  • I agree with you because Ike hasn't killed people like Katrina...but then, you have to think about the place you live. Galveston isn't built like a bowl waiting for soup to be poured into it...Katrina is a terrible situation, but also...the thing about Galvestonians is that they have a whole lot of back bone. We'll be doing good from working and getting what needs to be done done. If the government helps that's be great but we don't expect it.

  • You sound like we did after Katrina. We helped each other out without waiting on anyone else. I pray that everything works out for you.

  • Really interesting footage. I'm even feeling Gustav's effects up here in Cleveland with all the storms Gustav's causing
