I recommend you ignore the idiotic comments here about "aliens" and the like. I was lucky enough to travel to Issyk-Kul and the nearby Kungey Ala-Too mountains last year..absolultely stunning and highly recommended. No wonder cosmonauts were sent to its shores to recuperate after their travels in space. The Kyrgyz mountain folk made us very welcome..but I would advise finding an exp.erienced guide if travelling off the beaten track anywhere in Kyrgyzstan.

i will be there in 2009 maybe i love the ideea of finding alien corps in the lake there is also a myth with a green monster in the water i say that monster is an alien search and u will find

I am in the US but my wife was born and raised in Kyrgyzstan and tells me this lake is absolutely beautiful. I wasn't sure if its your first time but I really think you are going to enjoy it.
