  • Hey!

Loved your recipe. Excellent comment "use your hands".

adding pepper has given it a chilli enchancement flavour.

I am from India and here this receipe is called cutlet and not patty. for Indians patties are made out of dough stuffed with vegetables or chiken.

Nevertheless excellent addition of chik pea flour.

Will follow you for more receipes.

  • this looks more like what i have been searching for.....not like ruby tuesday or tgif....pure veggie!!!

  • Can I bake instead of frying it with cooking spray and what would be the bes one choise?

  • @islam4eternity : you could, they'll be drier (as baked). You'd need to add a little oil in the mixture if you want to bake. Oil isn't bad, use a little, we're not frying them, only using it help cook. Good luck :)

  • looks fantastic and easy

  • Looked at about ten veggie burgers and then i found this, good ingredients and well presented. Thanks Jay

  • Yum looks great!

  • pt4 Is chick pea flour more healthy than whole wheat flour?

  • pt3 Is this best eaten with naan bread or roti?

  • pt2 I'm happy to find a recipe on here that doesn't require egg.

  • pt1 My own vege pattys weren't this good.

  • looks great!.

  • How many calories are in each patty?

  • 45 calries..

  • Oh man. That looks delicious. Can't wait to try it out.

  • I would think that olive oil or canola would be healthier than vegetable oil, as we know it.

  • Depends.. usually veg. oil over in the UK is from rapeseed (this is Canola) - which is good on omega 6 & 3.

  • Great recipe ... Thanks!

  • Can you use lentil (besant) flour like chick pea flour--as a binder?

  • Besant? Do you mean Besan? If so, Besan is chick pea (chana) flour.

You can use a fine flour like chick pea flour that can bind, absorb and stick the ingredients together. :) Happy cooking.!

  • Yes, I see, Besan is chick pea flour. I haven't bought it for years. Forgive my error. (Not Annie Besant!) But I remember a lentil flour, too, available at health food shops that they make pappadams out of. Could it be used as a binder, too? Thanks a million!

  • Thanks again for your reply, and for putting up your great vegetarian recipes. I'm now gonna have fun experimenting with different bean flours--like mung bean flour and lentil flour, as well as chick pea flour--and see what sort of veg patties result. Ta !

  • Yeah! thats the spirit!

Mixing different bean flours will give you much varied nutrition also - each bean will have it's set of nutrients, amino acids (proteins) .

    You're enthusiasm is great! :)

    Happy cooking, Namaste!

  • Yummy! These look really good! I've tried CANNED chickpeas, mashed, too, and they make for nice patties.

  • very nice uncle

  • Good stuff:)

  • Thanks :) Hope you've made them and enjoying them

  • looks good.

  • Did you drain and squeeze the grated potatoes to get rid of the moisture?

  • I'd imagine you need the moisture for the flour he used...

  • Spot on! The natural moisture of the veggies binds with the chick pea flour so we can shape them into patties or burgers.

  • Wonderful, can I use normal flour instead of chickpea flour. Or is that a big no?

  • I use chick pea flour for it's stickness and binding properties when it absorbs the vegetables moisture.

Normal flour - I presume wheat, plain/ general purpose flour right. I'd not recommend it as it won't cook in the same time as chick pea flour does.

Experiment however and see what happens, and let me know :)

  • fast, easy, tasty and healthy! great stuff!

  • Looks delicious! Might be something I make real soon - thanks :)

  • Excellent! :)

  • Yum, looks good.

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah, for sure Ketchup!

Have any relish, chutneys - just go with what your tastebuds say :)

Put them in a bun with salad stuff and make a different burger!

  • What reason can people give for not being able to cook cheap, healthy and also quick food. Simplicity itself. Just do not forget the ketchup! Thanks.

  • Precisely - cooking easy and fun - and you know whats going into the food you eat!

  • Very quick and healthy. I can also eat this for a side dish with tuna patties. Thanks!

  • I will try this...looks great. Thanks
