Like Fletch, I came to this through the "Dangerously Funny" book. The film originally concluded with a "?", I believe, but was updated with an image of Nixon's face on the second airing. Having now seen this, I can understand why people were impressed. And still are.
Thanks for posting this film. I am currently reading "Dangerously Funny," David Bianculli's book about the Smothers Brothers and their fight against censorship. It's fascinating. The author mentions this film. I was very curious to see it. It's quite an achievement, especially considering it was made in the days before CGI.
