i used to be apu certified on the 727, gpu for the dc-10. loved to go up the rear stairs into the cockpit and fire it up. my signature is in the tail section of the last 727 made. working for federal express was the greatest! super video!
A Purolator 727 took off and its probably the second loudest aircraft in YVR aside from the F-18's. Those good old turbofans! Sounds more like a rocket than a vacuum cleaner!
The hushkits do a lot of work. If they didn't, this beautiful aircraft will surely be grounded due to noise guidelines which every aircraft has to adhere to.
Because 727s are Stage 2 aircraft. The technology for quieter engines didn't exist when 727s were built. But there are a few other aircraft that were noisier than the 727. I can handle the 727, but try watching up close a BAC 1-11 taking off. Those Rolls Royce Spey engines were far louder than the JT8D engines.
Yep,, its a lot more quiet than the ones in the 70's-80's. I just watched a 727 from this airline take off from Minneapolis/St. Paul INTL. about 2 hours ago. Its been a long while since I've seen one, I was a little bummed that it was "Hushed".
Because they are basically the same, same manufacturer, same era (although the 737 has long outlived the others in production). They actually share the same basic nose and fuselage design and cross section, with different wings and tails. The 757 also has the same fuselage cross section. Whilst the 767 externally has many differences to earlier types (although the cockpit is near identical to the 757 internally), it shares the same nose and external cockpit with the 777.
thats my baby. comes to San Diego everyday.

BPch1 even with a hush kit it is still way louder than most things out there today, like crj's and a320/319's
