  • No Dudly Moore, I can't watch

  • sunset during a quite tranquil mood...

    Milo: OOWW MY PAW!!!

  • "Is that a baby cow? Yes I believe it is. Oh Dear." What the heck?

  • The japanese Version is shit

  • 0:00 - 1:00 milo licking milk. LOL i wonder why this scene was even filmed

  • I loved this movie until i watched it when i was older. a bunch of asians made it and threw a cat and a dog off a cliff and into a river...go watch it again

  • Whose the narrator? I love their voice.

  • Man, that Nine Inch Nails track really fits the mood of the mother cow losing her baby and having to watch those pesky crows try to devour it as brave Otis tries to shoo them away...

  • @joshguy64 Were you being serious?

  • @neodevilbane

Yes I am being serious. the Nine Inch Nails track really fits the mood of the scene.

Did you choose the track? Because if you did, you made an excellent choice and I congratulate you.

  • @neodevilbane Why so serious?

  • Wow kinda dark

  • @joshuarayborn Crows feeding on a dead cow in a childrens movie, great idea right

  • wow... that cat ran up that tree really fast haha

  • so sad

  • Towards the end I thought about how in real life a dog wouldn't try and help a cat down a tree. This gave me the idea that no cats or dogs were killed in the movie.

  • why werent these scenes on the american dvd version anyways?

  • i can understand why some these scenes were never in the american verison, might be too intense for little kids, the part with the baby calf was so sad. :(

  • omg! poor otis!!!!!!!!! Those mean ppl letting those rude old cows attack him! AND THE DEAD CALF!!!! GAPHIC AND GRUESOME!

  • really sad scene. I think it would have been too depressing to be in the movie. Good editing choice.

  • I've watched this movie over 500 times since I was born... Jesus, I'm a 20 yr old man.... If I ever "God Forbid" have children it will plague their life too... It's really nice to see these, considering there's no special edition DVD

  • i have a dvd of it

  • They probably cut this scene so little kids wouldn't be exposed to the death. I never knew of the deleted scenes-they're awesome

  • @jonwasser

actualy, it was probably cut due to not finding a way for it to fit into the story used in the US version, as the stories were made up to connect the footage.

  • it does not appear in the american version

  • This scene is'n deleted from the norwegian version of the movie! Chataran and Posky <3 Haha that's what they're called in Norway, it brings back good old memories <3

  • good thig that sceen was deleted i would have cried real bad as a child.

  • Nevermind I found it- it's actually track 13- thanks so much

  • I can't find a version similar to the one from this clip? Do you know where I could find audio of thing song?

  • what song is playing in the background when the cow dies?

  • Never knew Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds was in this film.

  • That was pretty random... Im glad it wasnt in the American version. But I guess it shows life and death on a farm, meh.

  • It says that Milo finally understood the meaning of death, and that he was thinking of his own mother. Does that mean that his mom was already dead? Cause all I remembered was that when Milo fell in the water and his mom went to save him, that was the last I saw of his mom. Did it show his mom dying in any of these deleted scenes?

  • NIN!!!

  • Why did they cut this scene out?

How come the cow is dead? Did the crows kill it? Never thought crows were strong enough to kill a cow.

At the end, Otis seems to be trying to shoo the crows away to save the cow. Oh well, too late.

  • The baby cow died because it was sick, not because of the crows. Otis was just pissed because the crows kept fucking with the body.

  • Oh I see.

  • i love how direct you put it

    haha

  • @AlGretBosRhenLavAvr how would you think the crows killed it? yeahhh theyre so strong they can just fly over a cow and their presence will make it collapse and die.

  • Comment removed

  • hmm, that bit at end of part 1 where milo fell off the cliff and kept falling back in made me hell sad -.-

I'm so glad these scenes were all cut. I like the American version how it is ;[

  • Overall, the American version has more footage than the Japanese one. For instance, the whole thing with Otis finding a wife and having puppies doesn't exist in that.

  • How did the Japanese version end?

  • Ok that is soo not a good vid i like the movie but this one makes me feel all down!

  • for a kid's movie, that's some pretty morbid stuff

  • I think Jaye Davidson from "The Crying Game" did the narration for the deleted scenes.

  • woah woah wait.

So diffrent things happen in each version???

    Theres not just one movie???

  • Never mind I read the comments I got it now.

But is there a version you can buy that has all the footage????????

  • I watched the spanish version. (The Japanese cut with Spanish voiceovers) Does the original Japanese version include Otis (whatever his original name is) finding a mate? The spanish version here on youtube doesn't seem to include it...

  • The Japanese version doesn't include Otis finding a mate. The American Milo & Otis is the only version that has that.

Basically, the director of the film shot about 20 hours of Milo & Otis footage. In Japan, they cut one movie out of it... and then later in America, they cut a different movie out of it.

  • Ah...so he shot additional footage...

  • Not after the fact. The Japanese movie just cut things differently, and the American movie used footage the Japanese movie decided not to use.

  • @thesnake383

he shot a whole lot of footage over quite a long time, and just selected some footage that would work to make a story.

  • Wow, the Japanese release doesn't even have Otis meeting his mate? I would definitely think that that would make the ending seem like it came out of thin air; having it in the film makes it less jarring.

Still, it is interesting to see the differences.

  • There was brief connecting sequences in the Japanese version with narration and words that aren't there in the American that serve as bridges.

  • what happend to the calf?

  • It got killed. Died. Tragic, really. :(

  • oh.:(

  • This movie is Japaneses and named "The adventures of Chatran". The cat was named like that. The english version, edited, was named Milo&Otis (giving credits to the dog). About this 1984 film, there was a lot of hoaxes and miths. No animal was harmed. It was directed by 6 coachs and a lot of edition. The director recently unmistified all.

  • "The director recently unmistified all."

Do you have the source on that? I'd love to see it. I read the director is a zoologist, and as such, would never allow these animals to come to any serious harm. He owns an animal farm too.

  • that scene with the cow was very sad....if this was left in the english version children would be scarred for life lol..plus it would mess up the plot since the english version has Otis finding Milo at the end and not twice like in the Japanese version...

i wish i could find the original version somewhere...i'd like to see it...

  • I've actually made a version for my own viewing that combines the Japanese footage into the American version with the new voiceovers.

Otis finding Milo twice works fine. He just... finds him and runs off the first time, then has to rescue him in the pit later.

  • @Chickengirl005 Scarred for life, I don't think so... The calf died because it was sick and since you had no emotional connection to the calf why would it bother you? If on the other hand Milo or Otis was killed then I can see someone being upset.

  • hmmm, the one part was very sad, i offten wonder if it was sick for real, it wouldn't surprise me. i don't belive about those roomrs about 30 cats and dogs died, but i do believe that both the cat and dog might have been injured, but not killed. the cat still looks like the same to me... but that's my opion. *smiles*

but thanks for putting that up.... your friend did a good job by the way ^_^

  • Wow, the imagery is powerful here. I can see why they cut this for Western audiences - not that I approve of any cuts but I'm sure there would have been a minor uproar over this.

Otis' squealing, the music, and the murder of crows in the sky and aroudn the calf. That's pretty powerful imagery. And yes folks, I do hope no animal was harmed here, so don't waste your breath.

Where abouts in the movie should this scene fit in? Thanks for this!

  • It's a little bit funny... in the Japanese version, Milo are reunited BEFORE Otis rescues him from the pit. Immediately after that is when it happens, and then they're seperated again.

A ton of the movie is arranged in different order in the Japanese version. Like, the owl scene happens differently.

  • Hmm, interesting. I guess I'll have to watch the movie in its original format sometime.

    Thanks.

  • I bet ur gonna cry on the original format.(its soooo touching).

  • Intwesting.(intresting).

  • I know that Dudley Moore had done the narration for the (English dub) movie, but who did the narration for the deleted scenes?

  • A friend.

  • a little pug became main character,This film old?

  • alrite, i think these deleted scenes hav just ruined this film 4 me, wish seemd like such an enjoyable family film for me, and in a way it was. but now im older and cant see how ne1 can stand there and film a massive cow chasing after a tiny dog. its just horrifying

  • did they honestly let a cow plow over that poor dog??? if you look around online its estimated that 27 cats WERE killed in the making...sad, i used to love this movie so much =(

  • I highly doubt that figure.

  • I can't look at this film the same way anymore ): ...

  • Why?

  • because I heard many animals have been injured and/or died with the filming of this movie

I hope it really isn't true, but I don't know...

  • The only part I can see where an animal would have died would have been Milo eating the mushrooms (which may have been harmless shitake mushrooms, native to Japan). The long drop to the ocean, we see a bit of cruelty in Milo scampering to climb back up the cliff, but he's clearly OK.

  • I'm sure they were ok, it just looked dangerous, they were probably trained to do some of the things

  • Actually, that wasn't the 1st cat that they used in that scene. A couple of the cats did die from doing that scene. My Uncle was helping with this movie but quit because animals were getting killed. Though not sured if it was really 27 cats that got killed, there were cats that get killed.

  • Your Uncle helped with the filming of an old Japanese movie about a cat and a dog. Are you absolutely sure? I've heard others say the same thing in order to give this movie a bad rep.

  • Yes, I am. I'm actually part Japanese(My Dad is Japanese and my Mom is white) and my Uncle didn't move to America like my Dad did but my Dad, my Mom, and me moved back to Japan. But yes, my Uncle did help with the movie but like I said, he quit.

  • Some people here on YouTube said the animals DIDN'T get

    harmed and/or hurt.

  • Why not? It's a GREAT film for all ages.

  • poor calf :( I dunno why he died?

  • Sick from birth, I imagine.

  • No. He got killed. Did he?
