lift means nothing in the way a cam sounds its all in the duration @50 and lobe seperation angle...compression is also a big factor in cam choice and sound

Ok so have basically the same set up with a 95 S10, it has a 350 sml blk bored .030 over with a .512 cam adv +4* and a th400 with a B&M 3000-3500 stall converter in it and shift kit. My problem is i can't get the damn thing to stay cool. It's always ski high around 250 and it has a factory replacement corvette radiator for like an 85-89.
@MrBAR8778 huh.... dont recall me giving a shit what you asked. just stating that i highly doubt thats a 500 lift cam, that a 380 lift cam has a choppy, nice sounding idle. if a 380 lift cam has a choppy idle, then a 500 lift cam should have a really choppy idle. check it out on my page. sounds nothing like that s10. and just to prove it, i bought a 500 lift cam last night. gunna get it put in when i get it, then ill be sending you a video of what a real cam sounds like.
@Samrixs .. before you start spoutin off.. its not the lift that makes the sound of a cam.. its the duration, lobe center, and valve overlap that makes the lump in a cam..
you could make a 600 lift cam with low duration, and a 110 centerline.. and have it sound like s stock(ish) motor.. or you can make it a 104 center line and 300 duration and have it sound like a nhra prostock..
@Samrixs roller motors make the cam seem alot smaller. 380 lift is about the same spec as a tbi 350, ive owned two and neither were lopey at all. couldnt even here mine with open headers at idle.
