  • is this safe?

  • I'm impressed! So impressed that I will never ever ever try it because I like the idea of walking without a cane or wheelchair when I'm older!!

  • omfg chuck norris life

  • 1990's-- Hey Bro! how much can you bench?

2020's- Hey bro! how can you kneel squat jump?

  • This is awesome

  • Amazing! I've never seen anyone do a move like this. I'm sure it's hard on the knees but then so is Olympic lifting. It's all about being trained to deal with the stress. This guy obviously is.

  • amazing amount of hatred directed towards this guy and the exercise he is doing. I'm not going to defend the exercise per say (although Louie Simmons has shown a power clean from the knees before and mentioned 190lbs in Russia) but whatever anyone says this is some very impressive explosive leg strength here

  • @sdfefde LOL neither do I

  • fucking pointless

  • @freedomsoldier187 so is your comment

  • @RedTailedTuna fuck off cunt , I'm an oly lifter, there is no point in this, it's faggot crossfit shit

  • @freedomsoldier187 This wasn't pioneered by Crossfit, and it's just another way to develop power. Everyone has what they prefer. Personally, I like bounds and Olympic lifting, but that doesn't mean this is useless.

  • @freedomsoldier187 If you where what you say you are you wouldn't say what you say.

You seem kind of jittery maybe you should be on some medication or something.

  • @RedTailedTuna I think you need to chillout man. The exercise shown in the video is great for explosivity. Dude look at his form. Straight back or should I say correct back. I wouldn't even be able to do this with only the bar pulling me down.

  • @juniorez888 I think you clicked on the wrong person I think this exercise is awesome,

as for chilling out, I would rather be intense if you don't mind

  • @RedTailedTuna Sorry. I thought I clicked on freedomsoldier187 !

  • I happen to know the guy in the video and his knees are totally fine.

  • First off @zalko70 this is an extremely explosive move. The olympic throwers used to snatch 225 like that so you don't know what you're talking about. Second, @canjump props on the weight, but im wondering about the feet. I've always done is with my feet flat so they don't provide any assistance, i was wondering if starting on your toes is correct or if you just did that for that weight?

  • PRESS 5 TO PROVE THAT HE'S GAYYYYYYYY

  • Moronic.

  • I'm sure this is good for destroying all the cartilage in your knees.

  • That was very heavy, very fast and very cool...!

Imagine scuffing your toe on the way though and wiping out going that fast... You'd lose half your face!

    Very impressed though RJ

  • Roids

  • I hate when people just throw their weights down like that. Its an impressive lift though.

  • @MrJabloney Rubber weigths, rubber floor, do the math

  • idiots gonna idiot.

  • Comment removed

  • its for power, footballers do the same with dumbells

  • Oh my God! My knees popped just watching that!

  • I will NEVER do that leg workout.

  • @newroyalty87 dont care

  • how does this help anything...

  • @natethegreat438 probably doesn't, but it's still pretty cool. not sure i could do this with the bar itself.

  • @natethegreat438 I'd figure it works on your explosiveness. That takes a lot of core strength.

  • I wonder how many people end up in the hospital after trying this

  • Never thought of doing that, next leg day i know what ima try out

  • crossfit is bullshit and will make you lose strength fast once you stop.

  • good shit man thanks, helps with grappling/ground and pound conditionings :)

  • fucking dumbass crossfit

  • that gotta be bad for the knee...

  • @ReignzOfBrainz Dickhead usain bolt does not do this shit. This is an exercise for tryhards

  • Id have trouble without the weight lol- DAMN

  • @TheDreamCatalyst Yeah I bet usain bolt has never even seen this stupid shit before.

  • Just because YOU think some professional has never done a certain exercise before doesn't mean, it's not an effective exercise. I'm pretty damn sure, he's done this before, as well as countless other professional athletes, as this is great for explosiveness.

  • Good stuff, this exercise has a purpose. Just like soldiers training to stand up with full gear using no hands.

  • God damn so many of you people are shamelessly fucking jealous.

I'd love to be able to do it too but I'm not gonna talk useless shit on him just because I'm incapable of that jump.

  • Maybe now he doesnt feel a thing, just wait 10 years this will all change..

  • This is an exercise that should not be done. Ever. Very low cost to benefit ratio.

  • Benefit to cost ratio* annnd, it's a good exercise, he just shouldn't bounce at the bottom the way he did.

  • this is so bad for your knees

  • Russians

  • soft

  • the only way i would do these is if it was a plyometric day, but with a bar no thanks

  • what the fuck?

  • Puss. Try doing that laying on your stomach.

  • @waty19 LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

  • @waty19 you probably cant even do that with the bar

  • What's next, sitting squats, maybe lying down squats :S

  • That has got to the be the dumbest exercise of all time.

  • aw my knees

  • Why???

  • wow)))

  • What?????

  • >crossfit

    >2012

  • Drop the barbell like a douche.

  • @THOSLT what else you gonna do? walk like 20 meters to go rack it when you're prolly just gonna pick it up again in a minute? fucking tool

  • impressive and sad at the same time...

  • hes practice how to fuck hes bitches

  • The only thing missing here was the New Era Cap, the fake gold watch and the big bling chain. Worst excercise ever.

  • Great athletic movement! We use this for building explosive hips! it's great to see athletic movements out there! i've been doing this since about age 15 and now i'm 23 and in college and this with a ton of other plyometrics and deadlifts not squats i was able to outjump and outrun alot of people!!!

  • OH MAN! I can just imagine all the things in your body that could snap on half doing this exercise!

  • There's not much room for error. This can possibly cause damage very easily.

  • im trying this at the gym today!

  • I can do this with a broom stick...

  • Find a sport where you need to do that and you'll be a world champ. Until then keep showing off this circus trick in the gym till your knees pack it in idiot.

  • @zalko70

it's actually a very useful exercise for sprinters. So...

  • Impressive! I can go, that deeps/185lbs. But,what would be the progression(s) to a kneeling squat? Inquiring minds want too know.

  • SHIT! Nice man

  • Nice

  • that's impressive, period.

  • I'm a physiotherapist and gymnastic coach!.....Does anyone know this guys name?? cos by the looks of this vid i'll be seeing him in my clinic very soon!!

  • @serpentide666 Let me gues.. You just finished school 1 maybe 2 years ago, and you learned alot about this?

There is a big diffrense between the books and and real life ;)

It's like the bible, dont take it all to serious.

You don't teach a person thats just starting weighttraining to do moves like this.

This is for advanced ppl that have strength in their knees you can't even believe.

All that muscle keeps it tight, no matter the fact that his knees are sticking out alot.

  • @YannickLB I've been a professional physio for 32 years sunshine! The majority of patience are (i'll let you guess again!) - WEIGHT LIFTERS! who don't know how to lift correctly! I agree, the strength in the knee and back needed to pull this off is impressive BUT the body is not designed to move like this. Yes it's good to keep the knee tight but you should do it with natural, functional training not stupidness and naivety like this! And i don't take any of the bible seriously.

  • @serpentide666 the body was not designed to move like this? thats a joke, in the primivated days every sat around camp fires or shit with ass to the ground, and feet slightly pointed outward. Now a days people have fucked up their bodies functions because of what our society has invented to make it more "safe" for us because we arent cavemen anymore, but in reality it has only fucked us up

  • @serpentide666 easily the most retarded made up exercise around maybe the kid is too scared to do full range heavy squats but would rather crush his knees on the concrete with all the weight directly on them...INTELLIGENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @GhostLate LMAO

  • what a faggot

  • Definitely huge respect for that, thats definitely off the chain man.

  • Props man, i will say that doesnt look like the safest idea but either way still takes a lot to do it

  • dude are you retarded?

  • This is the most retarded shit I've seen in a long time.

  • I'm in a wheelchair just by looking at this.

  • Congrats bro! Nice lift! Tried to do the video response, wouldn't work for some reason. So search "Robbie Walden Kneeling Jump Squat" I am 155lbs, and I did 255lbs

    Keep up the training!

  • damn thats amazing

  • The people criticizing this movement and calling it dangerous are probably a bunch of old men who probably do leg press, smitch machine "squats" and bodybuilding routines/splits. I talked about overhead squats in a bodybuilding forum once and every said it was stupid and dangerous. LOL

  • I got arthritis in my knees just watching this! there is a fine line between training hard and training stupid! whoever told you to do this has sprinted over this line. I had a football coach who told me super deep squats "and I mean deeper than power lifting squats" would improve explosiveness and it did... until I tore my patella in one knee and acl "when I fell over" in my other. stop this before your 27 and walk like your 82 year old grandpa.

  • that couldnt be good for ur knee joints

  • You are Stupid!

  • Your vertical jump must be high

  • GREAT JOB... IF U WATCH ANY OLYMPIC LIFT ,,, YOUR FEET ARE RIGHT AND LAND IN A POWERFUL POSITION.. THESE GUYS DONT KNOW WHAT THEYRE TALKING ABOUT

  • honestly, why the fuck would you do that, the danger faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar out weighs the potential benefit.

  • theres no reason to say this exercise is so fucking bad for you. its great as long as you are doing it with the proper weight and good form, like every other exercise. i can see it being a problem using too much weight and bending in weird positions. i just started doing these and they are a great addition to explosive training

  • @ronnyuc27 Next time you're with your orthopaedic surgeon having your knees and hips replaced I'll bring your retarded ass some cookies.

  • @jilabi2010 ahh, you mad?

  • @ronnyuc27 are you retarded?

  • anybody who condones this type of lifting is out of their mind....there is no reason to ever do this exercise as it is unsafe and hard on the knees and back....instead of doing this you are better off doing jump squats

  • Stupid and mad dangerous..........

  • Holy crap. I will be attempting 185 for three sets of 5 (regular squat) on Monday and I can't even imagine doing what I just saw you do! ha ha

You are embarrassing this 40 year old! :)

  • DOUCHEBAG ALERT! DOUCHEBAG ALERT!

  • I WOULD NEVER TRY THAT EVER

  • have fun when you have arthiritic knees...or even better no knees....ABSOLUTELY MORONIC...SOMEBODY NEEDS TO DROP A DUMBELL ON YOUR HEAD TO KNOCK SOME SENSE INTO YOU

  • @readytorockithard23 do you even lift?

  • @fpsTOMshow who knows, but if you look at his channel, he spends almost all of his time posting, criticizing people's lifting form or workouts in videos. It's really sad, but it's best to leave trolls alone.

  • @readytorockithard23 Literally the most retarded thing I have ever fucking seen in my entire fucking life. You literally understand nothing about weight lifting. Why do you even watch these videos, just to be retarded?

  • @readytorockithard23

    r u fuckin retarded

  • NICE

  • As the Hodgetwins would say: "That's a one-way ticket to snapcity."

  • @SicSeb fuck you and fuck hodgetwins

  • @sdfefde No way! Really? An internet toughguy??? On youtube?!

Wow! You don't see that everyday! =D

    Congratulations

  • there is a reason no one competes doing this. there is a reason no one in the gym does this. its because its a bad idea. you could do more weight if you start in the upright position and it would be less damaging on the knees. less risk, more reward. you seem to young to appreciate that.

  • looks incredibly bad for ur back and kness

  • this looks like a bad idea...one of those, "this looks badass, but it actually less effective" ideas.

  • Can't he Power Clean? I see no use for this.

  • Looks dangerous.

  • Is that Shane Battier?

  • Blinkin heck, well done.

If your not lying about the amount of weight in that barbell that's incredible.

  • Is there a point to this excercise besides ego and showing off? Doesnt look like its more effective that cleans or squats, more dangerous. LEave your ego at the door

  • stupid look your spine

  • Great acomplishment!

  • coach's*

  • why is his nickname 'pistol' ? i would understand if his name was pete , but ryan 'pistol' doesnt make too much sense

  • HOLY SHIT!!! i have trouble doing the kneeling squat jump with no weight!!!

  • Looks so dangerous

  • So how did these help you. Higher box jumps? Heavier snatch?Faster sprints?Did you use something to gauge your results with?

  • oh my god... this is a very beautiful exercise !!! how's your lowback then ?

  • I can't see combining two different exercises like that will have THAT much significant difference in strength and hypertrophy, than just separating the two...injury and knee problems will result from doing this exercise, this looks "cool" though.

  • @tjwess

This exercise is not aimed at strength nor hypertrophy. An athlete would gain far more strength from hip raises/thrusts and traditional squats.

It is a power movement, however. And an incredibly difficult one at that. It's not necessary, and you'd probably see a stronger benefit from something like snatches, but honestly the injury potential is not too great if you know what you're doing -- as with any "jumping" lift.

  • Yeah, you really have to absolutely nail this lift every single time to avoid injury. I've never seen it in any strength coaches arsenal in preparing their athletes.

  • now try that with 405 pounds

  • Sweet!! Gotta try that. Think i will just use the bar on it's own first though :)

  • Nice!

  • Good exercise I am going to start doing these, I love explosive stuff. Only, I will be using lighter weight :) And trying not to pause between the jump and the squat portion, besides that looks great.

  • Looks dirty on the knee caps.

  • good way to mess up knees trust me my knee are messed up because i have been doing all the way rom on squats, this is screaming for runners knee not classified as an exercise for me

  • @Vdjperks You're a dumbass. Squatting low didn't mess up your knees. You not knowing how to squat messed up your knees

  • @agentbobbarker ok mate whatever being previous training with strongmen and power lifting, dont take my advise but your knees are going to get f** its called runners knee jumping off your patella like that is trouble, just a normal squat is impressive enough.

  • @Vdjperks

Your knees are "messed up" because your squat form is shit. It is an objective reality that squatting with a full range of motion is healthier and more natural for the knees than any other variant. You are likely squatting with a feet forward stance, not allowing your knees to track out over the feet and are letting your legs buckle inwards to manhandle the weight up.

Don't blame the lift for your lack of dedication to form.

  • @RedWildz A full ROM on a squat and this kind of lift are hell and heaven different. This kind of lift will screw up your knees and hips for sure.

  • @RedWildz True that. I finally discovered my natural squat form when doing the Murph last year, and it made a HUGE difference. I find that I do better with a natural standing squat, than I do with the weight sled inverted leg press (Which ALWAYS causes problems with my knees).

  • @RedWildz yea, i fucked up my knee doing squats in HS football by doing exactly what you stated. now, my body wont let me do squats at all. only leg press and hack squat. shit sucks :\

  • @Vdjperks Squatting full ROM isn't the reason your knees are messed up; rather it's some issue with your form. You probably don't have a strong balance on your heels, and as a result you cave forward and do a squat-morning to compensate, or your knees buckle (which could occasionally happen at the heaviest weight even for people with solid technique)--consistently buckling, which place pressure on the knees and takes it off of the inner thighs, however is bad.

  • this is very impressive. what is the purpose of this exercise?

  • @BigJoeThrows I believe this exercise's purpose for explosioness great for baseball catchers and wrestlers my wrestling coach had us doing this to get our explosiness off mat from referee's position and for baseball players it also builds up endurance.

  • @BigJoeThrows nothing box squats would be much easier on the knees

  • All of you asshats have no knowledge of how the knee functions if you think this is bad for them.

  • knees.... stupid fuck.. knees

  • nice work buddy. how do you train for this or is it genetics

  • thats very impressive......but probably not great for your knees..

  • @CHRisdr13 yes, probably awful for the knees
