@HBMAN665420 I said that due to the fact that MACK is a WHOLLY owned subsidiary of VOLVOAB.They even moved the HQ to Greensboro with the main US HQ. So in MY opinion they are now foreign crap.Don't be surprised when they come with ONLY Volvo power like Volvo now.

In reality there are only 3 US heavy hwy. truck builders left...Peterbilt,Kenorth (PACCAR) & International (Navistar)

MP engines are VOLVO designed engines. They are exactly the same engine as the volvo D11, D13, and D16. The only difference is they are painted RED instead of GREEN and their ECU's are programmed differently for the mack brand to deliver a different fuel curve. You wont see any other engine in a Mack other than the MP series after the year 2009. You CANNOT get any other engine in a Mack other than the MP series, Garunteed. Only in a VOLVO can you get a optional Cummins, Volvo controls that.

I can tell you I have a new 2004 and 2007 fleet of Western Star's with acert CAT's in them and Im not sure which is worse the truck or the garbage CAT motors. Im regretting not going with the MACKs, here in nyc MACKS are very popular and prove themselves every day.

Actually Mack engines are doing horrible too man. All engines are, the new epa shit is horrible, Cummins egr's Cats turbos, Detroits...well its a detroit what do you expect. Cat will get their game back together soon, try doing a rat shack upgrade on your Cats.

Cat is getting their "act" together, as I "predicted" about 5 years ago.....after the current supply of Cat engines are depleted in 2009....there will be...NO MORE Cat Engines available for Hwy. trucks. Caterpillar has decided to quit the truck engine market, once and forever. They have decided that it's too costly to start over with a new engine that will meet the 2010 emissions standards concidering their market share, so have decided to pull out of it, all together.

maybe these big diesel companies have to tell the epa where to go!Maybe the epa has an idea like they did when they switched to the new model diesels to run this ultra low sulhper diesel. I have a 88 f-350 diesel pickup truck that gets in between 19 and 23 miles per gallon, the new cleaner running diesel ford pickup gets 12 miles to the gallon but yet puts out less polution" whatever", that extra fuel isnt just magicly dissapearing, its going into the air somehow.
