  • teleio!!!

  • Great music, and it could describle many places around the globe.

  • Who really cares where it is...Music is personal and it takes me to my times of motorbikes, cutoffs and metal...When the free world existed...They were great times...I used to listen to Al stewart all the time amongst me Motorhead and saxon and stuff...

  • this song reminds me of the story my mother tells me of her home. scotland. im american by birth, and proud of that! but pure musical talent comes from the otherside of the pond. hands down!! the beatles,al stewart, andy sommers, sting, alan parsons, eric woolfson, jimmy page, joe cocker.the list could go on and on. thanks to them, we have great music to listen to. thanks for the video!!

  • "In the village where I grew up

    Nothing seems the same

Still you never see the change from day to day

And no-one notices the customs slip away"

Its verses like these that have haunted me all my life since I first discovered Stewart back in the 1970s. No other artist can roll history into a beautiful song so well.

  • A wonderful song. That's my opinion.

  • this album is a musical, phenomia (cant spell it) year of the cat al stewart, just listen.xx

  • Al described the song once "we all have our big toe resting on a white line on the border of nuclear war" or something close to that. Is there any more talented artist on the face of the earth?

  • Production is from Alan Parsons. Nuff said

  • Super sound quality!

  • B面のBROADWAY HOTELE最高!

  • シングルのB面BROADWAY HOTELEもいいですね。

  • except it is about spain, in the basque region and at probably about 1933-"change comes from africa"-

  • WATCH

    WET

  • This song made Peter White famous for playing the Spanish guitar so well. Check him out on Youtube. His music is excellent and the melodies are wonderful.

  • Problem is this song isn't about Mexico. It's about the Basque separatist movement in Spain. It is a beautiful song. Stewart is a poet. the guitar work is remarkable. It's Spanish, not Mexican.

  • Wunderful song - thank you very much for uploading!!!

  • And again I love everyone of sherrylynn70 music videos.

  • Great song, just a pity it's not showing more of Spain/Portugal (the Border) instead of Mexico.

  • this song is definitely in my top all time 5 fav list. i remember hearing this as a kid and i remember saying i need to know this song. thanks for posting it.

  • Fantastic song, my favorite by AL. Reminds me of sitting at the cantina across the street from Hotel California (NOT the inspiration for the Eagles song) in TodosSantos with my toes in the sun drinking the BEST margaritas in the world.

  • I love everyone of sherrylynn70 music videos...

  • Some tracks have this magic stuff inside! it makes your mind free thanks the uploader.

  • Probably the most underrated song of the century. Profoundly metaphorical lyrics, electrifyingly hypnotic music, and smooth-as-silk vocals combine to give me chills down my spine and tears in my eyes. This song puts me in a different place, time, and dimension, a positive place devoid of unhappiness and suffering. Al Stewart is a musical genius. This song definitively proves that Al was not in it for the money and did his own unconventional thing. Think of Al Stewart as the anti-Justin Bieber.

  • Thank you so much....Your comment is what this is all about for me...and, it truly is a small world when it comes to the great connection of hearts through the music and beautiful places..

  • @sherrylynn70 You are right. You took the song and what it meant to to you. What it made you feel and think of. It's an individual thing. That is why I believe MTV was a disservice to music appreciation. I made a video of the Eagles song James Dean with James Dean clips. Of course Youtube won't let me upload it but I get where you are coming from.

  • awesome job!!! great juxtaposition of images in synch with the music track. really took me there, just wish i could stay forever.

  • Reminds me of my trips to Mexico on the MS Holiday

  • Another sherrylynn70 masterpiece..

  • There's a strangeness in the air you feel too well.

  • Not heard this record for ages. Thanks for posting!!!

  • Daddy, what did you do during the revolution?

  • @2536b So how's the rest of life?

  • Love this song...thanks for the upload

  • The gayest lisp in all of music...

  • @vivian2gin Then why are you here? This isn't a super well know song, so you obviously already knew about it and searched for it. You actually took enough time to comment on this video like that. I can't wait until all ignorant people like you die very necessary deaths.

  • spara sborra 0:35

  • @mnty7 sorry, 0.34 - spara sbora

  • @mnty7 SPARA SBORA! 0:33

  • This song made me start studying the Spanish guitar. Was Al Stewart related to Rod Stewart?

  • Danke für diese schöne Aufnahme ! Da kommen Erinnerungen auf , die längst vergessen waren , meine war C. Altenkirch !!!

  • Truly amazing...

  • Is Peter White playing on this original version?

  • @jwmellott

    Of course

  • nice video. спасибо, Landis

  • een van de liedjes die het leven kippenvel geven

  • really wierd

  • Thank you very much o_O

  • This is from a time when music was incredible and it took you places. Oh how it takes me back. I still have this album and it's one of my favorites. Life in the Seventies was great :)

  • after all; Aren't we all standing on the border..............Too many have forgotten the good

  • Yes, we are all standing on the border....exactly what this song speaks to me..Thank you for getting it....we are all on the edge somehow...each day so precious...thank you for taking time to listen and comment..

  • I love it!

  • That is what music is...a personal journey...we each have our own interpretations...Mexico, Spain...whatever...They are all Spanish descent...Truly no big deal...

  • wait a minute.... i heard in the song a reference to Spain (the spanish border) and i heard a reference to Africa but no reference to Mexico....so......what's with the mexican flag and mexican map?????

  • I LOVE Al Stewart!!! You have great taste in music sister-gull...:) The video paints the perfect picture to go along with this wonderful song. I enjoy playing "Broadway Hotel" on my guitar. It is my favorite A.S. song. Reminds me of my high school prom for some reason. Thanks for the memories on this cold and snowy Saturday!

    hugs...

    Donna~

  • I just cannot do without listenig to this song every once in a while !!

  • I love all those vivid colors. Makes me want one of those original Tacos you speak of. And maybe a Margarita or twelve. Keep up the hard work to make up for the rest of us....who are stumped.

  • Beautiful Sherry. I love the entire Year of the Cat album!

  • Been there several times.. Nice video and song.. I have a friend that lives in minn. but her and her husband own a little casa in Teacapan, a little fishing village about an hour south of Mazatlan.. The artwork you show in the video is almost exactly like her paintings of Teacapan... I spent a week there and got to enjoy true Mexico.. Not the tourist towns.. I will send you a couple of pics of her paintings..Thanks for sharing :)

  • i love al, saw him a few years ago performing in a small venue in camden...not only is he a great singer./songwriter, but he has a dry self depracating wit which was very entertaining.

  • Another great production, Sherrylynn. Music and images fit together beautifully. Looking at the map of Mexico I can see the towns that both my dad and step-dad came from (Leon and Saltillo). My grandfather was born in Nuevo Laredo and other relatives came from Durango and Mexico City. Great visual vacation you've taken us on. Can you share the name(s) of the artists? Once again, simply beautiful. All the best. ~ Mark

  • I love that you shared the story of of your grandfather and your dads...so, I am assuming you know how to cook up some real authentic South of the Border cuisine...very cool..and, you got me on the names of the artiste...I was feeling guilty about not including their names, and am working on that now..I found one of them...will let you know..I appreciate your time and comment so much..

  • I love the song!!!

  • I love that you got to hear it again..Thanks for coming by.

  • i really like this ...very nice song...love the latin feel and peace that goes along with it..5*****

  • Hey Dear Wayne...I appreciate your visits so much..and, so glad you found some much deserved peace here...
