@jawdust3 My amp is one of those cheapo ones with a big hole in the back that you can see the speaker through. I just pulled off the crimped speaker wires and extended them with crocodile clips onto the external speaker. Hope that helps.
@ChrisLody Thanks for getting back to me. I'm not sure exactly what you mean though- Could you possibly send me a close up picture of it please? What do you think it would be like if you used two springs, one large(the slinky) and a smaller one you could fit inside the slinky? Would it make a lot of difference?
@wrbonfield Thanks very much! There aren't any Noise Hero's listed yet as i sold out in the run up to xmas, also the last posting date from the UK to USA was the 10th. They'll be available after xmas again though. Cheers.
@tekkentool Sounds pretty good for just a bunch of bits doesn't it? Well the SHS-10 has gone now, i sold it off on ebay to raise some funds :( On the plus side i have modded my half dead mK to take a guitar strap and the pss-780 has some nice bolt holes in the back i can add a strap to. If only i didn't look like an idiot playing it...
@tekkentool Heh heh, didn't know about the curse of herb, but i do now! I found a good method a while back where someone added proper bought guitar lug things to an mK, i did that but with spout bolts and washers i had knocking about. Well cheap!
@ChrisLody Its something i never would have done when my mK was fully working, but i thought fuck it. I took the bottom off and bolted straight through with nice big washers and lock nuts on the inside so its pretty strong. But i'd never want to gig with one like that, not that i gig anywhere yet!
Wow! you've got quite a collection of keyboards there, I noticed you have a PS-55 on the shelf, I have that keyboard too its very good with all its sounds and rhythms.
Check out my videos of my keyboards collection I might have more keyboards that you also have, Thansk for sharing!
@KeyboardKrazy49 Yeah i really like the ps-55, it has a really warm sound for a home keyboard. I sure will check out your videos, should keep me busy! Cheers.
Whoa! Bummer that THAT 'spring reverb' isn't a little more portable. :O Great sound from it though! I'll have to go and read Nicolas' article about it. :)
@korgds10 Messing around with a keytar is great fun strangely. I'm thinking of selling off the shs-10, but i have others keyboards i can sling round my neck.
@hmrdude Its worth trying just for that, you can get some very loud and varied sounds out of it. I like to hang it over the stairwell next to my studio and just shake it around. Great fun.
@hmrdude Damn, i can't believe i didn't try that before i packed it all away. I might save that idea for the diy plate reverb from the same article. I'm sure it'll sound good.
@reg1167 Hey Reg, how you been? It sounds pretty good doesn't it, better than i thought it would. i think i might build the plate reverb from the same article, i'm wondering how a big sheet of glass would sound.
@pirahna1 Yeah, that's where Nic Collins wrote the article for. I'd like to pick up a copy of the magazine if this is the quality of its content, though i'm not sure where to buy it in the uk.
@theau61 Yeah, i never thought of that. I had it up quite loud on my monitors so that would have been exciting the slinky, something else to experiment with!
very nice AND thank you!

I see you plugged the speaker into the back of your amp- How did you do that?

Love it, very much humanized the mechanical sounds of the devices you ran through it. Also, didn't realise you had an SHS-10, jealous :)

@ChrisLody Well...i'm sure you know about the curse of herbie hancock. It won't stop me from jerry rigging my MK into a keytar eventually :)

@ChrisLody i dunno if i'd do it to mine, i don't think there's enough meat on each side of the MK to put some decent buttons or strap locks on them.

It's just a spring reverberation unit. Like those uesd in the old analogue Synth days in the 70's The Maplin 4600 used one.
ClercLe 1 year ago
@ClercLe Yeah that's right, the arp 2600 had one too i believe. This sounds much more lofi but i can't afford the real deal so this'll do!
