@MintyInTheSky That's hardly the least plausible part of it. Try screaming at the right pitch to shatter a piece of glass like that from across a yard. Impossible. But, you exercise a suspension of disbelief for the sake of the show.
Ignore the fact that the human voice can't break glass without amplification, or that that quantity of gas couldn't kill unless he stuffed the watch straight down his throat... I know these mysteries sometimes have outlandish solutions, but she might as well have used Egyptian magic.
@DomWeasel HCN is a pretty lethal gas actually, although maybe it didn't kill him instantly just made him collapse from inhaling it and then he died within a few minutes after that.
Alan Davies is the only person that can play Jonathan Creek. He is just so serious, unlike QI where he is like a child.

Can't break glass but can break crystal. Expensive watches often made of crystal.
The gas however has to be exceptionally highly concentrated to kill that fast.
