I went to Botswana this oast summer. One night, the local youth had a worship service at the church we partnered with. They sang this song with such enthusiasm. It is wonderful to worship with believers across the world to such an awesome and powerful song!!
I really miss this era of hillsong where everybody of all ages can jump, sing and dance along with their song. Today, they favored more on rock music that you cannot see seniors and disabled at the front row dancing anymore.
I feel horrible today, but I decided that just because I feel horrible physically, I don't have to feel horrible emotionally. I'm also trying to remember that how I feel is only temporary, and Gods blessings are new every morning. I love this song so much, it's a great reminder that God deserves our praise even when our lives look dark.

There is nothing wrong with songs that provoke praise and worship and this song does that for some people which is great. At the end of the day I think God is pleased with that. I think that lyrics should line up with the title.
As a song writer, I am very conscious and clear about what message I want people to get from my music. We live in a day that a lot of ministries(not all) messages are so watered down that believers are living a defeated life. I have been around enough people that loved and praised God radically and lived a defeated life. Obedience to God and His word is how we overcome. The title sounds powerful. It builds my expectation to see how we overcome. I hear what God done.
To me there is no right or wrong answer when it comes to opinion. We feel the way we feel for a reason. I'm just challenging the arrangement of the song. If they are holding up bibles saying this is how I overcome..sure the dots are connected. As believers we have to be care and clear about what message we deliver to people. Jesus has turned my life around in a way i could have never imagined. He is the Giver of all good things. It is only in and through Him we overcome. This song makes me dance for the joy of knowing My Father God. Music resonates in your soul and makes you feel emotions. This song conveys joy, joy exceeding that is the way we should we feel if we Jesus in our hearts and lives.
Sure there is a lot of churchie hand waving, but God see's there heart, & takes pleasure in there rejoicing. Look at Kind David danced, & they thought he was ridiculous. we can overcome when we rejoice in his goodness & Praise reminds us of the Authority that we have In Him & over our minds!
I believe that in this song, people are giving there cares over to God, in there own way of expression. Which I may not personally express myself that way, but it is giving God Praise, or a "sacrifice of praise", to choose to give it all to him. Maybe it just gets them out of themselves & focused on God & his goodness instead of focusing on there issues.
You can declare anything but faith with out works is dead. James 2:17. So how do I overcome strongholds? I have to renew my mind and seek the face of God. Something are overcome by fasting and praying. That something we must do. We can dance and rejoice over what He has done and is doing. This is a good marketing song for Hill Song. It's catchy and exciting song but jumping up and down with my hands raised is not how we overcome.

Why have we ridiculed GOD this way and brought death to ourself? Jesus has come to give LIFE, life eternal. Work out your salvation with feat and trembling.
I understand that you believe this is not a correct way for you, but others find this a better way to worship God, for example this is my favourite song and I can truly relate to this song. In fact this song was what convinced me to become a Christian through the strong message of turning mourning into dancing.
May I also ask why we should tremble? Jesus would not want us to tremble he would want us to celebrate and what better way then through dancing for him?
Is this kind of worship glorify GOD? It looks like people are having fun in the name of God. Our worship should be in 'truth' & in 'spirit'. Our flesh delight in this kind of worship as we have become a dancing and a shouting generation. Where is our reverence to God Almighty. Will He delight in this worship. Do not be fooled by this kind of worship in churches these days, the enemy has deceived us by bringing in the worldly pattern in our church.

Sure there is a lot of churchie hand waving, but God see's there heart, & takes pleasure in there rejoicing. Look at Kind David danced, & they thought he was ridiculous. we can overcome when we rejoice in his goodness & Praise reminds us of the Authority that we have In Him & over our minds!

I believe that in this song, people are giving there cares over to God, in there own way of expression. Which I may not personally express myself that way, but it is giving God Praise, or a "sacrifice of praise", to choose to give it all to him. Maybe it just gets them out of themselves & focused on God & his goodness instead of focusing on there issues.

You can declare anything but faith with out works is dead. James 2:17. So how do I overcome strongholds? I have to renew my mind and seek the face of God. Something are overcome by fasting and praying. That something we must do. We can dance and rejoice over what He has done and is doing. This is a good marketing song for Hill Song. It's catchy and exciting song but jumping up and down with my hands raised is not how we overcome.

I understand I am more than a conquer. I understand I can do all things through Christ Jesus. This song speaks on what God has done already. The song say "this is how we overcome". Overcome means that something has been conquered. I have endured through a process. The song doesn't mention any of this. I don't have a problem with the verse. Just the this is how we overcome part. We don't overcome by letting God do all the work but allow Him to do the work in us. I can do all things THROUGH Christ

How do we overcome. I am a believer and understand some of what they are saying but I really don't understand the song. I understand what Christ has done for me but the chorus part don't match up to the verse. How do we overcome? Not by jumping up and down. I believe in radical praise but this song doesn't really make any sense. It's catchy but Tomprabhu is correct. We overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony. Rev 12:11

The song is a word of declaration, our testimony of what Christ has done in our lives. And declaring our testimony in song is one of the means by which we overcome.

i totally agree with blakvegas! dancing, shouting, singing etc are all ways to show God how much you love him...and with songs like this, the reason why you dance and shout is bc your over flowing with joy! and to me, you (tomprabhu) are saying that even though we are so full of joy..we cant show it...that just worng..its like saying you cant show excitement about you or someone you know getting married or having a baby...niiiice

In the bible Dancing is mentioned several times in I Samuel 18:36, Psalm 149:3, Judges 21:21, 23, Jeremiah 31:14, 13 those are just examples for you too look up and by the way how dare you compare christian worship to the one and only True God to a Hindu worship or Muslim worship!!!!!!!!!! We do not overcome the world this way. This is blasphemy in the name of God. Is the blood of the Lamb and word of our testimony has be ridiculed. Worship God in truth and in spirit. Will a Hindu worship his god in a temple in this manner? or will a Muslim worship his god in a mosque in this way? or a catholic dance and shout in a church? Why have we ridiculed GOD this way and brought death to ourself? Jesus has come to give LIFE, life eternal. Work out your salvation with feat and trembling.

I understand that you believe this is not a correct way for you, but others find this a better way to worship God, for example this is my favourite song and I can truly relate to this song. In fact this song was what convinced me to become a Christian through the strong message of turning mourning into dancing.
May I also ask why we should tremble? Jesus would not want us to tremble he would want us to celebrate and what better way then through dancing for him?

Is this kind of worship glorify GOD? It looks like people are having fun in the name of God. Our worship should be in 'truth' & in 'spirit'. Our flesh delight in this kind of worship as we have become a dancing and a shouting generation. Where is our reverence to God Almighty. Will He delight in this worship. Do not be fooled by this kind of worship in churches these days, the enemy has deceived us by bringing in the worldly pattern in our church.
