when you do something like this you're no longer at the level of consciousness the work was written in. (see R Graves). You've descended to the ordinary consciousness. So there is no point to it. Except for crowd who will never get there and understand.
@exbogus I TOTALLY agree. If there were electric guitars around at their time, Vivaldi and Bach would've been really really amazing with them in their pieces. :D
@egydiver Umm... The whole point of music is that it evolves and changes over time. No instrument should have preference over another and no-one has a right to assume what Vivaldi would have thought of this.
@egydiver It was a homage, idiot, not a parody. Of course he intended it for a chamber orchestra, nobody is disputing that. This just puts a modern twist on a beautiful movement. Good arrangement in my opinion
@rosten736 I have been a Vivaldi fan for many years and I disagree. I think this is awesome and wish I could find more music like this. I think Antonio is head bangin in his grave every time he hears this and thinkin "I shoulda thought of that".
the cd that has this song on it is on rotation where I work. When no one is in the store I crank this song up to level 11. I play it as many times as I can get away with.
@superzombie92 yeah, I agree! It would be pretty awesome! Check out some of Aaron Meyer's new albums, they sound pretty awesome with the combination of chamber music / orchestral instruments and rock. :-)
@brettt777 unfortunately no, this was the only time we all got together to play this. It was pretty awesome. Aaron Meyer and Tim Ellis are still doing awesome arrangements though, check out their music. We also do something close to this except with Celtic music and a little more acoustic. :-)
THAT is AWESOME! As both a fan of classical music and a bit of a head banger, this is just too cool. I don't think Antonio is rolling over in his grave when he hears this. More likely he's bangin his head and thinking "I should have thought of that". I have always loved Vivaldi and I think his compositions lend themselves to this kind of... adaptation... better than most other composers. I had this idea of doing Four Seasons as a heavy rock thing years ago. I just never had the time or talent.
would have been nice to put a short guitar solo in at the repeated passage at the end (could have filled it out and been real wacky) - other wise great
is their like a high quality mp3 file i could download or something? This is just brilliant, especially the melodies towards the end, marvelous ^_^ thanks in advance
