This was part of my coming of age musically soooo many years ago, when i realized that was more than 70's metal :) Wish I could have seen them at GBGB's
@Shaun17170 Though it seemed like half a lifetime at the time, probably because it was over half my life at the time, those events were separated by less than 9 years.
Wow, this is painful, but educational to listen to this after the Stop Making Sense version. To me this song shows vividly how the band transformed from a fairly typical small-club rock band with different ideas and an interesting music-based sound (as opposed to the typical rhythm and guitar-based glam or hard rock bands of the time that used as little music as possible) into something that was markedly different - the celebratory musical garden that Talking Heads become.
@Baritone45 Yeah, the Heads are wierd. You can't really say where their music came from. You know, at least with, say, The Police, you can say there's a punk and reggae influence.
i know this song by Uyen Linh VietNamIdol, so i think the cover of UYEN LINH is great more than.... pl try if u don't believe me, GOOGLE it: UYEN LINH - take me to the river.
@yumionlyyou I dont think you should beg for attention that way, Uyen Linh has a great voice, ppl around the world will know her, soon enough. Believe me ;)
I like ...I want...I prefer ...the other version... the best version... the only version... I cry if I don't hear the other version... where is the first version?...I want...I need...I will have...MINE MINE MINE! ....................Odious comparisons.

point of VIEW not you. sry (I've been accused of being anal about this kind of thing) lol This is good and I love the Talking Heads but.... Al Green rocks this one.
@00bikeboy I accept your point of you. Came to that conclusion by observing myself. You can't get much further from New York than I am (I'm hoping only physically).
I love you all. Be well.

@FetaCheese222 You say weird, I say interesting. I think it all came from their ummm heads. I wish we had more original thinkers in commercial music.
