I can not believe like educated people do confuses terms like: communist, totalitarian militarist and democracy. Cuba is not communism, is a military dictatorship. The closest to communism in the world is China and the the farthest was the USSR. Extreme militarist are: North Korea, Cuba and in the pass Chile during Pinochet, and Russia during Stalin. Any country can call themselves whatever they want, to repeat euphemism is a different matter.
So what, you think even if you buy a house in the USA you really own it, the government can demolish it at any time, life in cuba is awesome from what i heard because I know people who live there.
@REPOMAN24722 you know people who live there, but you yourself dont.... dont base your opinion just because someone else said its good. can't be entitled to your own opinion?..... lets put it like this... if you PERSONALLY haven't lived to cuba- dont comment, IF you have- feel free to comment whether its good or not. simple.
@Ben1238 This new Administration? Since after JFK & all others after, all the Administrations have worked towards this. It is already done. There is a lot more that goes on behind the scenes. Listen to JFK's final speech prior to his death & u will get a clear picture of what is happening today. He warned us & now he is dead because of it. If Obama doesn't do what he is told he will have the same fate of 4 other presidents that didn't do what they were told.
LMAO! This is all bullshit propaganda Wow I can't stand our Media! Always lying & trying to make it seem like the USA is better than thou. Okay these are the facts about the USA: U never truly own anything bc the Gov't owns it with u when u contract w/them thru licenses. Try not to pay your property taxes & see who really owns ur home. No one owns their vehicle once u register it bc now u gave the Gov't permission to own it with u. U better pay cash & get that MSO title. Cuba taxes 50% USA 60%.
Yeah about those taxes your figures are a little off. In a higher tax bracket you pay around 40% if you earn around $250k per year which I think is robbery! In case you had not noticed theres a lot of poor people in Cuba and they pay a lot there. Just throwing that out there!
@Ben1238 Thanx for responding, I was waiting for a response like yours. I will help u realize something, typically we volunteer paying taxes at roughly 33% & yes you're right when u earn 250K u fall into the 40% bracket. Now include all of the sales taxes & other hidden fees & taxes. It adds up to around/over 60%. And i notice a lot about Cuba since I have family there, therefore I can & do draw comparisons.
I don't recommend watching this documentary. It's inaccurate and shallow. Typical popular U.S. media reporting with no depth. Teach yourself about Cuba by watching the many documentaries and movies that have been made over the past 50 years and visit Cuba yourself for a few months with an open mind. The New York Public Library has a lot of good films (some on reels). And while your visiting Cuba, give away your money and things. They could use your help.
what are some docs that you recommend? i'm working on a cuban play set in early 90's havanna, and just watched "balseros". anything that you can think of?

I need proof that this journalists were told to leave. Don't say what you can't prove! I am in school to be a journalist.
On the other hand Cuba is doing good in their great depression. In ours people were homeless and starving on the street
