@ugrokecske az enyémébe sincs!!! :-) Most vettem 2011-ben!! Kissé kopott, de jó motorikusan!! Egy kérdés!! Sajnos rosszak a küszöbök! Amikor haveral megakartuk emelni recseget az egész, igy két téglátt tettünk a Trabi allá, ugyanis levegőtlenitettük a rendszert. a hattyunyak egészen türhető. (23 éves a kicsi :-) )

Yes in the USA you are allowed to drive old cars on the rode, i was just wondering because with the reunification of Europe i thought that the Trabants were to dangerous to drive on the autobahn because you know you have this little trabi going 40mph and then a BMW going 140mph that could cause a bad accident. In the US you see lots of old cars, cars are to many here a matter of pride if you have a nice vintage FORD thunderbird that gives you alot of pride in america.

Just a few things.

In Europe all counties have rights, to decide what types of cars are allowed on their own roads. This vid is made in Hungary, here we can drive Trabis.:) But I don't know what's the actuality in Western Europe.

Second: 40 mph is 64 km/h. Trabant can go with 110 km/h, that's 68,4 mph.:D Trabant drivers are too smart to go on the Autobahn, so there's no danger. When you go slower on small hidden roads, you see more things.:)

Well also i do belive that the reson for a trabant not allowed in america is some enviormental and political resons. I mean out in the midwest im sure you could find someone out there with a trabant because of all the space. After the wall came down they were very popular to buy in america. Sorry about my my Standard to metric convirsions after you become used to one system for so long its hard to comprihend the conversions with the other. But loved the trabbi video, she was in GREAT shape!

well that is true damberg13, they can be allowed to be in america, ONLY if they pass the EPA inspections, what about 2 stroke mopeds here in america?? weather they pass or not, it still puts out high volume of emissions on the roads, it's bad enough as they allow 2 stroke mopeds on the road in america, is because 2 strokes have more power than the 4 strokes, what about 2 stroke lawn mowers, weedeaters, chainsaws, generators??... same thing... high emissions

One more thing: for today only a very low quantity of trabants left on the roads. The newest one is 18 years old now. So it's very happy and nostalgic when you see a well-maintained trabi on the road.:)

One more thing, is a trabbi automatic or stick? I watched you shifting but i couldnt figure it out. Now i have to belive that you have driven western cars like a VW or VOLVO so how would you say the trabbis performance is to the VOLVO or VW?

Trabis have manual gearbox. The gear stick is the "door handle" on the right side of the steering wheel.:)

I've never said, that trabant's performance is equal to western cars... I said it's a completely else feeling.:)

The feeling can't be described.:D You know, that you're siting in a car. But the 2 stroke engine's sound is like you're driving a gokart, or some racecar.:) And the steering is so direct and heavy too than in a gokart.

And the sounds. If you drive a trabant, you must listen to all strange noises. It's difficult, because there are a lot of noises. The engine rattles, the carpets rattling, the seats, the doors, the exhaust, the gearbox, have diferent sounds. So it's not a quiet interior.:D

Tuning terén volt benne sportlégszűrő, sportkipufogó, nagy sűrítésű hengerfej, karburátor-átalakítás, most hirtelen ezek jutottak eszembe.

Yeah it's 2 cyl 2-stroke... great fun, like a go-kart with a roof :-) that's the fuel tank under the hood, and you have to add oil at a ratio of 33-1 or 50-1 depending on how old the car is! Makes a lot of smoke, of course! They made 3 million of them so there are plenty left!
