Won't drink Bushmill's, it's Prod swill (I jest, religion is silly). Why doesn't this guy have Powers? Powers is the best in class of cheap blended whiskeys. Only set you back $17 for 750ml. Drinking a one now after a hard day's work. Pure nectar. Jameson comes in 2nd or 3rd in the cheap-but-good whiskey race, imho. Go to Ireland, the old fellow at the pub is drinking a Powers.
Wait, he's in Budapest. I think Powers is hard to find in central/eastern Europe. Answered my own question. Carry on.
Nixon is a surname of English, Scots or Irish origin meaning "son of Nicholas" - but do not go around thinking that this means you have heritage of one of these places. You have to be born in England, Scotland or Ireland to consider yourself English, Scottish or Irish.

@seonidh yes he was scottish but he produced whiskey in dublin. like arthur guinness was english and the guy who first made budweiser was a german immigrant to the USA.
@seonidh he was born in co down in northern ireland however his family were all wealthy anglo irish protestants, he would have considered himself british, like the duke of wellington who was also born in ireland yet he always maintained he was an ''englishman born in ireland'' arthur probarbly spoke with an english accent as his interaction with irish people would have been minimal when he was a boy. much like the french who were born in indo china, they were french ex pats.
@The22clowns wow so when all these irish-Americans who hate the English toast Ireland with a Guinness are doing it with a drink that originated in England ie "porter" and by a man born in Ireland who said he was an ''englishman born in ireland''! Oh the irony.
calm down man... quite a few people actually are interested in the flavors of well made whiskey and my advice was for them. If you don't happen to be one of them then why on earth would you care about what i have to say?
I don't agree that Tullamore Dew is a bad mass product whisky. There are bad whiskys of course (Bourbon and Tennesse f.E.) but just because a whisky is famous it doesn't mean it's bad or made for the masses.
It just means it's flavor has a brighter fan community. Or would you say that Famous Grouse is a (m)ass product?
no, i dont think its a bad whisky because its well known, i think its a bad whisky because its cheaply made and with little regard for the flavour profile of the original, brilliantly composed, pure pot still craft whiskeys that actually came out of the B Dalys distillery of Tullamore. Since the closing of the distillery, Middleton bought the rights to the name and used it as a logo for a blend of a younger version of their jameson line mixed with a lot of neutral grain whiskey.
Well, I suggest you're talking of the Tullamore without an age sign. The 12 year old one is quite well done and tastes the same. And a whiskey is never neutral, only if it comes purely out of the still with 70% and more.
Well, I respect your opinion but I still like the Whisky TD and it's a good starter for the rather unexperienced Blend tasters.
Now I get my attention back to my 12 Year old Bowmore.
this fellow gives a fairly class introduction to scotch in his other videos but this one was probably a request that he hadnt planned on as it's really just a bit of authoritative sounding talk surrounding little to no real information. The two whiskeys on the table are both fairly mediocre examples of what irish whiskey really is and he mentions nothing about the flavor profile. Anyone notice that when he 'shows' you northern ireland on the map, the camera is on Limerick of all places...?
Just for you dumb fucking kids. Adults enjoy a good glass of whiskey/whisky slowly and enjoy the TASTE. GASP!!! Imagine that! Enjoying the TASTE of what your are drinking! Fucking juvenile.
@Jboxton So slowly, it's magical. A small swirl in the mouth, down the throat with a warming sensation, followed by aromas that are truly to die for. Ahhhhh!
don't drink either one if you can help it. They're both fairly crummy blends made for a global market with no real attention given to flavor depth or creative maturation. If you want real Irish whiskey try something like Redbreast, Connemara, the Bushmills single malts (not to be confused with the white label stuff), or one of the older Tyrconnell finishes (i'd recommend either the Port finish or the Madeira finish.) If you must go for a cheaper blend, i recommend Powers well before this stuff.
notice how he rolls his eyes when hes forced to call a northern irish whiskey "irish" whiskey. he cant even be bothered to carry any of the n.irish whiskeys in his shop.

Give Connemara Peated Single Malt or Greenore Single Grain Irish whiskey if you want to try something really interesting and different that the normal Irish whiskeys.
I prefer Jameson.

It's an important difference in tasting and enjoying a beverage, than covering the flavour and drinking it to get drunk .
Both I recommend, but it is in fact a serious pleasure to respect the flavour of the spirit :)

I just converted from Bushmills to Jameson's Irish whiskEy.
Jameson's is 10X smoother and more drinkable than Bushmills IMO. And Jameson is less expensive, at least here, in the American Northeast.

anyone ever try "green spot"?
rsea910 3 years ago 2
Shure, i got it last week from a whisk(e)y shop in Zürich.
It's very rare and i had luck to find it there.
For me the Green Spot is one of Irelands greatest whiskeys. It's a sweet, fresh whiskey with a typical, but indescribable Irish character.
Buy it, if you see it somewhere!
