Hello, reader. If you started reading this, don't stop or else. I hate people who post these kind of comments but.... Post this to 16 videos in 30 minutes and promise your self to never listen to these kind of comments or make one up. But this one is real.If you don't post this, a boy with no head or legs will show up in ur room at midnight kill you. Everyone will forget u. start posting. the timer will start as soon as you finish reading this. yes I do hate these comments
Thank you for this video - via this I found the "The Pitch, Poker & the Public" and find it to be an excellent short film packed with some really good information. How come you don't post that on YouTube? ... But judging from some of the hate comments, perhaps it's a good thing as I doubt they would get it; their collective IQ is too low. =)
Even though this was supposed to be a parody, everything he says is true. The rest of you can poke fun at it, but if you have the money I would follow his example very closely. A regular business card is very forgettable because it provides basic contact information that you can easily get from other sources. If you really want to get someone's attention you need a business card that goes beyond the norm. CD business cards are one example of that.
Oh Snap!! I just remembered who this clown reminds me off. Danny Tanner from Full House. LOL. Pause it at 0:32 The nuttier version of him hahaaa!
"what do you do Gauranteed!!?"
ummm.... "i laugh my ass off everytime i see one of your videos dumbass!"
oh and guess what, you don't need to be rich to do that... if i take your video on an ipod to africa.. all the little kids with ribs showing and an outy belly button will laugh as hard as me too!
I just like his video where he confuses a $4 beer coaster for a business card. If someone handed me that when I asked for their card, I'd laugh my ass off. Yes, it's different, but that's what makes it look so horridly unprofessional. Wearing a shiny tinfoil outfit to an interview is also "different", but the professional thing to do is wear a suit. Being "flashy" just makes you look like an idiot.
And everyone likes vanilla. And we drive around in beige Toyotas. And I can guarantee it's the reason why you're sitting at home disagreeing with videos instead of having them made about you.
you're kidding, right? you're a filmmaker and you can't even iron your backdrop or come up with a metal folding chair rather than a chewed up wooden one?
secondarily, a character? is he in character 24/7? get the guy an award...he might be the greatest method actor of all time.
congrats on the success of your vid. but it's a success because it's hard for people to believe the level of coked out douche baggery that joel exudes unless you see it. they are making fun of him.
Just finished his two day training...great ,useful.step by step actions you can take for marketing any business. You were mentioned over the weekend...would be great to work with you......congrats on making the transition from employed to independence...not everyone has the balls to do it......best wishes Zubryd
Nice appreciation vid...I'm a big fan of the video, and I even made a parody as Bjork, lol. Although it's funny because he pushed the limits, I saw immediately how a lot could be learned from making a film like that. Personally, I'd rather be an absurd hero than mundane and unconvincing, lol...Also, underneath it all is sound marketing advice for the win...
I've seen Joel Bauer on other videos, in person and read (part) of his book.
He's not the greatest salesman ever. He's a parody, and I think he is well aware of that. He never at any point approaches actual sales techniques. He's a bullhorn entertainer. I don't know if he makes a lot of money doing what he's doing, but he's definately unforgetable.
SnoopySuited, thank you for your post. The greatest salesman ever has more to do with truthiness than truth. I do believe he is top 5. As a salesman I put his sales techniques into practice and out sold the entire island of Manhattan with regard to a popular wine. I think over 2 million a year qualifies as "a lot of money", thanks for your post!
I'm not exactly sure what you learned from Joel, but if I employed any of his 'ideas' or shadowed his personality with my clients, I wouldn't make a dime. I'm glad you have gotten something out of his teachings, but his ideology doesn't work when you have to build long term relationships with clients.
That's an excellent observation. Shadowing his personality is not something he would recommend. Transformation mechanisms however do truly work. As do many of his other techniques. The trick is to be yourself while incorporating his tips. There are quite a few people making long term relationships with clients from only using a few tips, I am one of them. It's never a good idea to become someone else for sales, his tips have worked for many. I cannot argue with weather or not they work for you.
There are two reasons that teachers discourage students to cite wikipedia:
1) Because it's an encyclopedia, and NO encyclopedia should ever be used as a citation. Students should be encouraged to use encyclopedias as a starting point to seek out primary sources, and then cite those.
2) Because it's strange new-fangled thing that they don't understand and are afraid of.
The greatest salesman on the planet = The greatest con artist. You can't be that good at sales if you aren't full of shit.

My comment was a reply to another which appears to no longer exist (thereby putting my comment out of context).
My reply was aimed at aa graphic designer who thought Joel's card was crap..
Personally, I watched "The Pitch, Poker and the Public" and loved it... and Joel makes a very vailid arguement about marketing oneself.
Tell me, have you done anything since "The Pitch..."?

That wasn't a parody, the was Joel Bauer being Joel Bauer - Nice try.
If he is playing a character what's the characters name?

Not all characters invented by entertainers have names.
This was his trade show persona.
And I'm not kidding anyone, don't kid yourself.

SO is there a part 2 to this video it cuts off at the end?
LivingSquirel 2 years ago
if you met his jack ass in 2002, how can you thank him nine years later in 2009?
Also, how comes I don't see bill gates or Richard branson boasting about their latest "Get rich quick" book?
And why isn't this important man on wikipedia?
And why is he begging people to do that instead of earning money?
JackpotDen 2 years ago
don't let not having the tools be your apprehension!
miavonni 2 years ago
Is there a statute of limitations on thanking someone?
Bill Gates wanted your money. Now that he has it he is giving to everyone except you. Joel teaches you to earn.
Wikipedia? If children in schools are discouraged from using that site as an honest reference source, why are you?
I don't know what "that" refers to in your last question.
Zubryd 2 years ago
There are two reasons that teachers discourage students to cite wikipedia:
1) Because it's an encyclopedia, and NO encyclopedia should ever be used as a citation. Students should be encouraged to use encyclopedias as a starting point to seek out primary sources, and then cite those.
2) Because it's strange new-fangled thing that they don't understand and are afraid of.
One of these is the correct reason.
