If you can't get to wii shop first you go to wii

options then you go to settings then internet then update then you can do on wii shop then buy internet channel

tbh this is a bit pointless. When you can download the wii browser FREE(until june) and your browsing would be SOO much faster and you can actually read things without the massive scroll bar

This was the only way to browse with a Wii before the Internet Channel was released. That "massive scroll bar" takes up less space than the massive button bar on the Internet Channel. And hey, it has music!

Got the wii browser and youtube vidoes work.. sometimes??? anyone know about this? It will sometimes say that the browser doesnt have java on or it needs a newer version of flash.. but other times I can watch youtube video's just fine. its like a 30% success rate working.

You can make it so the music doesn't play very easily. As for the length of page loads, the way it works is the browser sends a request to your computer, the computer uses it's DNS to get the webpage, then a proxy reformats the page, adding the keyboard code, and other things, then after it's formatted, sends it back to the Wii. So of course this takes a long time. I'm sure the real browser would be quicker.

Figured it out. Had to rewrite the pages as they come in using a hacked nph-proxy to utilize keyboard.js and kbd.call. You rock!

I had to install apache and nph-proxy so far to get out of the (out of url) error to stay in the same "domain". havent figured out the java scripts for text input or disabling the second conneciton that times out yet.

Technically, he telling the truth. He just has something set up like Simple DNS and is having his Wii point to it as it's DNS server, the dns server has a dns enrty for the Wii Shop channel that changes it to go to a (probably) local webserver. At which point it's probably just a page with frames and some javascript. There's a bunch of this documented already.
