  • o my word the original cast drives me nuts, absolutely talented

  • Is it just me or did Mandy go a little flat at the end? :( Still amazing though.

  • Of course he was inspired by RENT, you can hear some of it in the show... BUT this is NOT based off of RENT!!!! BAHAHAHAHA Now, thats just stupid! LOL

  • In the Heights is truly one of the greatest shows on broadway. It deserves a movie, and it deserved more Tonys. It's right up there with West Side Story and My Fair Lady-or it should be. If our generation brings anything to Musical Theater, let it be this show, Spring Awakening, and Wicked.

  • One of the ABSOLUTELY BEST songs from the show.

  • But this show is not based off of Rent. I'm sorry but It's not

  • He said rent inspired him.

I'm saying that the show was inspired by HIS life and HIS experience. For God's sake Vanessa was named after his wife... My point is that Rent Inspired him. But his life inspired the show. Not trying to fight here people :o)

  • This is my favorite song from the show, Damn I need to see it, without Corbin Bleu...

  • Ahhh Christopher Jackson makes me sooo happy!

  • Best musical ever!!! ITH is on an American tour!!! Check out

beintheheights (dot) com for FREE tickets... Thought I'd put it out there :)

  • Chris Jackson is a dreamboat. love love love this.

  • He's gorgeous and has such a voice!!!

  • @TTULadybug84 he really is, isn't he.

  • why'd they skip the 'no pare sigue sigue' part?? best part of the song :( love it anyway :)

  • I want to see this so bad... ughh... I live right by Bennet Park too... (haha)

  • I love Rent and the message of "no day but today", but every now and then I listen a little too close to the music and find myself thinking the characters are rather self-centered and entitled. Heights may have some things in common with Rent, but I like the message here better, and the characters are more likable people. It's a toss-up in our house which musical was better, I loved them both! If you liked the music and energy of Rent, you'll enjoy Heights too. Go see it!

  • i agree 100%

  • because everyone dies on the can

  • I can see the Rent parallels in the song structures--once I listened through the first time I would mentally compare tracks--The Club/Blackout brought Christmas Bells & La Vie Boheme to mind; Alabanza and Will I have similar tones musical and mirrors I'll Cover You reprise, and so on. I dig both shows.

  • I am really glad that you brought that up. My sister and I debated about that same thing and I really hear similarities. Thanks.

  • i saw it last night. =] i love them both so much!!

  • amazing performances, but the cuts that were made for this performance are quite awkwardly place.

  • Where did they perform this? As in the actual location?

  • Quintisential New-York Musical...Vibrant and tight-knit community..."

DUDE! This is so much like RENT!!!

I BET it has a lot to thank RENT for.

Wonder if it'll come to London...

  • Lin Manuel actually talks about how this was totally inspired by RENT. he says when he was rent for one of his birthdays as a teenager her realized that you could write musicals set in modern times and about whatever the heck you want so he got the idea for this, from his personal experience, but RENT is what made him realize it could actually be a reality. so your right, it def is

  • this is nothing like rent at all, its a hell of a lot better than rent ever was, please dont compare it to rent thats an insult

  • Mate...if it weren't for RENT this wouldn't exist, that much is clear. And from what I've heard the complexity of the score is nothing on RENT, nor is the energy. But that is opinion, you don't have to be nasty about it.

But honestly, if it weren't for RENT, this wouldn't exist, nor would Spring Awakening and thousands of Gay people and Aids victims would have had a much crappyer life without it to help them, so be respectful of how important that musical was...

  • haha alright mate .. im just saying from seeing rent 2 times and than going to c this show its a hell of a lot better and wen i saw it, it was absoloutley nothing like rent and i hate how everyone compares musicals to rent like "omg this is like rent" or rent is just like this show its just like let the originality of the show come into the light and not compare to the many talents of jonathan larson, this show was excellent so dont compare it cause thats my opinion

  • Ok, I haven't seen it so I'm not fully qualified to compare, but having heard a few songs it doesn't seem quite as good. But then again I was vaguely skeptical about Spring Awakening but that was AMAZING!

Have you seen the film RENT? Because it has mostly the original cast and they just have magic I've never seen before! - I've seen vids of other casts on Broadway and they just don't hae that spark...

  • you're being an idiot...RENT was the inspiration for this and they are two completely different incredible un comparable musicals...

  • Yeah, much of the show was inspired by rent...it was lin's first musical!

  • that makes absolutely zero sense. lol it has nothing to do with rent

  • @Hannah218218 Um... go find an interview with Lin Manuel, he specifically SAYS rent was his inspiration for this....

  • @Hannah218218 Okay use your brain.... people living inner city struggling to make it by in a different way. Also, yes it does. the show doesnt have to be anything like rent, lin just said that when he saw rent it inspired him to write a musical because he loved its emotion and power. look it up and stop doubting. it makes 100% sense if you research a little

  • aw i LOVE this song!

    and she looks gorgeous!

  • I LOVE CHRIS JACKSON!

  • they obviously had to cut it down for tv, but when he sings "then can i say, 'i couldn't get mind off you all day'" i MELT

my fav part is when he says

WERE ALL GONNA BRAG AND SAY WE KNEW HER WHEN THIS WAS YOUR HOME
