Does anyone know a good audition song for this show for a higher range Baritone? I've been asking on any song from this show I can Find. I've never done a musical audition before, and my school is doing this show for our spring musical. Any help is welcome!
Not everyone is a Broadway person. Heaven forbid if this continues like the Evita fan boards. We are all entitled to our opinions. I know that some people would crucify me for some of my opinions. Some people do not know modern Broadway. Who cares? We all haven't always known who the greats are. We had to learn the beauty of musicals and the best part was people not getting angry about our ignorance.
Having seen Sutton Foster perform in Thoroughly Modern Millie, I can attest that yes, she is great. But Bernadette Peters is also great. It is not a war of who is better. Appreciate both for their talent and just enjoy the show.
HAHAHAHAHAHAH PEOPLE THINK SUTTON FOSTER IS BETTER THAN BERNADETTE PETERS? Maybe you can validate that point in twenty years but it's highly doubtful that you'll have reason then..
@BBCamerican123 We did this as our musical at the beginning of the year because we do our musical in the fall. :) I was the witch, and it was so much fun! I hope all goes well for you!
@Busterseyes She is a famous Broadway actress. She is not in Into the Woods or this video, but she was in things like Shrek the musical (Fiona) and she is currently in this show called Anything Goes. She's pretty talented. I personally don't like her, but try Google-ing her. :)
@GlindyUpland "In this show called 'Anything Goes'"? Do you know that "Anything Goes" is one of the most popular and tremendous Cole Porter musicals ever? Or was that a function of the way you phrased that statement?
@amarantaviera Oh, no, I am well aware of the success of this show. I have been a Broadway fan since I was 10, after all! I wasn't sure if Busterseyes knew the show. I didn't want to make them feel alienated if they didn't know what it was. :)
Bernadette Peters should stop following in the footsteps of the incredible SUTTON FOSTER. She can't sing, she can't dance, and she can't act. Sutton Foster is better than her in every respect. Sutton is younger and prettier, too!
@BPetersWins I have the right to MY opinion! Stop flagging my comment. You Bernadette Peters minions need to chill. Sutton Foster is the queen of Broadway!
@Walt1896TheClone No matter if you use all your 200 Youtube accounts to worship Sutton Foster and flag as "spam" all comments you don't like, it doesn't change the fact that Sutton Foster is a nobody next to the amazing Bernadette Peters! SUTTON FOSTER IS THE MOST OVERRATED ACTRESS IN THE WORLD!
The woods is the greatest allegory ever! Seriously. And "sometimes people leave you halfway through the wood. Do not let it grieve you, no one leaves for good" helped me out a lot with my current situation.
I love how this play is all about the journey of life, the woods being life. You have to take the adventure but be sure to take heed in your choices and decisions
The chord on the word "you" right before the witch sings "Careful the tale you tell, that is the spell" is one of my favorite musical moments in this entire score. The voicing is perfect, and the chord has the perfect feeling for this scene. Plus this original cast has one of the richest and pure blends I have ever heard.
Why do I not own this movie?!?!?!?! hahaha Bernadette is definitely wonderful in this play. She owned it! (but, then again, when doesn't she?) Now, to Ebay to locate this!
Steven Sondheim is a absolute genius. Ever since I played Cinderella in the junior version, Into the Woods has been one of my favorite plays. Children will Listen is probably my favorite song :)
We just finished up our school production of this about a month ago. I was the narrator/mysterious man, and it was definatly the highlight of my entire school year.
@DJsaxby16 I have a question for you. How did you change costumes so fast?! I'm not sure if you did it the same way as the narrator in this show did, but HOW?!
@BehindTheProscenium Well the first thing was the costume itself was a zipper in the back jumpsuit. It hung in the right wing of the stage and when i went to put it on i took off my jacket and shoes (it fit over my suit) and our Rupenzels prince and some of the crew helped my slide it on while i also but my headgear, which consisted of a hat wig and beard which was all pinned together. Onc]ce i did it it wasnt that hard.
I played Jack in our schools production and I must say, listening to this song after a long time performing it raises the hairs on my body, such an honour to perform in this play!
I had the pleasure of portraying the Witch last spring and even as I sang this song, I cried. The finale always gives me the chills. It is beautiful <3
I just watched this whole show (the movie version shown above), and it was amazing. At the beginning, I was doubled over laughing, but by the end, I was trying not cry my eyes out! I'd really like to see this live...
I have no idea why, my only hope is that some day I'll be the Witch in the broadway production. I was cast for a school production but I moved right after, and it was Jr. anyway. I did this play for a Drama project.
One of the best finales of any Broadway musical I've ever seen (and I've seen A LOT). I love how you put in the cut scenes from the read of the musical.... Beautifully done!!
this is such a wonderful production! My acting academy is doing it and at the very end the narrator (Back fro m the dead i suppose) claps his hand over cinderella's mouth and drags her offstage...
I wish I could click a "love" button because "like" cannot express the amazing-ness of Bernadette Peters and Stephen Sondheim and Into the Woods (AND this cast which is by far the best cast to EVER perform Into The Woods!!)
chills, excitement, etc. from this amazingness!! OH MY GOODNESS this is amazing.. i was in this when i was in 5th grade, and i still love these songs!

This is such a beautiful song, to one of my most favorite Musicals, Its the perfect way to end the show :D I always loved how the line in the 'into the woods' part turns from ' The way is clear and the light is good' to 'the way is dark and the light is dim' it strengthens the theme so much =)
@EtErNiTy253 I don't know if you've read Deathly Hallows, but "woods" as symbolic of travails is a pretty big component of that book, twice over, and all the trips to the Forbidden Forest in the previous books don't hurt. i just did this show. i was sleeping beauty. it wasn't a big part, but my directors added me into ever after and the two agonies. i just want to say, it was THE most fun show i ever did. i still have one more year at my high school, so it wasn't my last show. but i just LOVE into the woods and i loved the cast. i cried so much when it was over i'm going to miss it so much. it's such a great show
Lol, love the "AAAH!!" subtitle. Great video, awesome editing! And perfect timing when the two princes sit down at the same time as the drum beat at the end! Hilarious.
My school is doing this for our musical, and I soooo regret not auditioning. But everyone in the cast has a part PERFECT for them. It's going to be amazing.
I'm playing Little Red in our school's production...I personally love "No One is Alone." It's just so touching and emotional. I love those moments in musicals :)
i love this musical!! my high school choir performed it last year (i was rapunzel), and on the last performance the tech crew let the fog machines go full blast, which set off the fire alarm lol!!
Wow! Fantastic job on the video! It's really nice. :] And my school's just began rehearsals for this last week, I'm Lucinda, and I'm so excited already! It's quickly becoming one of my favorite shows.
What the hell does Sutton Foster have to do with anything? She wasn't even in "Into the Woods"

Lol, love the "AAAH!!" subtitle. Great video, awesome editing! And perfect timing when the two princes sit down at the same time as the drum beat at the end! Hilarious.

Congrats, I'm the same characters in a performance at the end of March! The Wolf and Cinderella's Prince are the most fun parts to play. :P
